Filament Recommendations:
  • Matte PLA hides layer lines extremely well
  • Marble PLA for items around the house
  • PLA Classic - slightly matte, and opaque
Will it work with Bambu?

  • Cheaper than Sunlu!

    • +1

      prints just as well too!

      • sure does!

        • That's because Jayo is Sunlu, so is Techbears

          • @TheGMan: Oh nice. So assume can just use the SUNLU profiles in Bambu Studio then?

            • @bteq: Yes,

Bambu basic PLA profiles work fine.

Only matte PLA, I found worked better with adjusted flow rate.

              • @impoze: I have only been using the generic PLA profile for both Sunlu and Jayo PLA filaments in my Bambu Lab A1 printer. Do you know of any difference between this profile and the Bambu Lab basic PLA profile?

                • @edfoo: Generic profiles are nerfed

Check the volumetric rate, they are like half the speed of bambu pla.

              • @impoze: Not Bambu or generic profiles. Bambu Studio includes SUNLU profiles for some filament types.

                • @bteq: Sunlu profiles are fine for jayo

They are still slightly lower max volumetric rates though but work reliably.

                  • @impoze: Cool thanks for the info. I will use Sunlu profile for both Sunlu and Jayo filaments from now on.

  • Wish they shipped to South QLD

    • Check the various stores, I believe some charge $20 to ship to WA so maybe the same for South QLD

  • +1

Great post OP. Appreciate the detail!

  • Any tried the High Speed Matte PLA with their Bambu printer? The price is the same as their Matte PLA (which prints very well on my P1S).

    • +1

yes, printed out a tonne of it since last deal.

Very smooth after I did a flow calibration (0.94) compared to Bambu PLA Matte.

    • +1

Goes fine on a1 and a1m

    • Awesome…thanks guys!

  • I'm thinking of buying a P1S, first to be to ivory ing with 3D. What's a good mix to pick of these to try different things?

    • +1

Depends what you want to do. PLA is great and easy to print, I find that the JayO PLA is strong and I haven’t had it weather bad or at all in the sun in a hot room.

      • was ASA or PETG better or similar in your experience when using as an accessory outside. Need to print a car plate holder

        • I’ve never used those, only PLA and it’s been find.

    • +1

Get a mix of these to start off:

      • Matte PLA
      • PLA 2.0
      • Silk PLA
      • PLA Marble

It will show a good range of the variations in terms of their visual appearances

      • @ozzymandious

    • Be very careful you are buying from the correct site, there are a bunch of fake sites that look identical around!

Makersmuse did a youtube video on it a few days ago

      • I'm using the link on the bambu labs sales post.

        • I have no idea. Im just saying be careful.

        • Yep, you're fine.

It's spam facebook ads sending people to fake sites.

  • +1

Every time this always gets me to buy more… but then again you can never have too much filament!

    • +2

I always find something to print and I don't have that specific colour so another 10 rolls it is.. or 20.. 30..

  • +1

8 for 5 - 123 bucks. Thanks impoze - great detail and links for the different deals and stores

    • Nice, what'd pickup?

      • mixed - more marble, petg for the first time, bit of silk, couple of colours that I haven't had b4 and black - my son puts in at least 6 orders a week and only black, currently printing bits for his drum kit, so he needs strength (jacking up the walls and infill etc).
Thank god his drum kit is at his place!!

        • Nice, my PETG printed out much nicer after drying.

          • @impoze: Do you have recommendations for a dryer?

            • +1

              @Freighter: Creality space pi
              Sunlu s4
              DIY food dehydrator

        • I'm an old drummer with a printer.
What is he printing? I can't think of anything really necessary.

  • Does the discount still work out cheap enough if buying different filament like petg and pla?

    • Yes, you can mix and match as long as you meet the quantity.

  • So many choices of material and colour, hard to choose. I bought 4 different colour of Bambu Lab PLA with my A1 + AMS Lite, today I just received Sunlu two PETG and four PLA filaments, I feel like I need to buy more from this deal, just not sure what to buy :D

    • Get more storage!

You definitely need to try out matte PLA and marble PLA

Did you already print out adapters for the AMS Lite?

I have a few photos of various filament/colours

      • Do you still need adapters for the latest Sunlu spools (dark blue colour)? What about needing adapters for these Jayo spools?

        • Yes for AMS lite

          • @impoze: Thanks for your advice. Just ordered 8 for the price of 5, they include PLA matte and PLA marble.

          • @impoze: Strange, I put a Sunlu PLA filament onto the AMS Lite last night, the spool actually fit quite snugly.

  • I notice that some of the stores (JAYO & jiawei-3dtech) mention 1.1kg rolls whilst others (SUNLU & others) are 1kg (or don't mention anything so presumably 1kg) so presumably we should factor this into the pricing? (I don't think it's factored into Flippaz's spreadsheet (which I don't think has been updated for this deal?))

    • I have tagged @flippaz but probably hasn't had time to rescrape yet.

      Sunlu spools are 1kg
      JAYO are 1.1kg

Hard to beat the value of JAYO unless you need a specific colour/type in Sunlu

      • Nothing there but thanks anyway!!

  • Thanks OP. If someone can point me to PETG-CF that would really help me out. I have looked but cannot see any. TIA

    • Check flippaz spreadsheet

  • I just bought the P1S + AMS 2 Combo. I'm going to be buying 12+ refills from Bambu ($16.99 ea) comes with 3 free spools, and buying 4 high temp spools (upcoming sale). Because there's no PETG available from Bambu at the moment, I'm thinking of buying the JAYO deal with the PETG filaments which I believe won't auto detect on the AMS2? Is it ever a deal breaker for anyone because of this? And do you guys ever change the JAYO spool to a Bambu Spool holder?

    • +2

I also just bought the P1S and AMS 2 Pro combo, I've run out of the 2 rolls of PLA I bought with the order and have just been using some esun/creality filaments i got for pretty cheap.

I thought having the auto detect with Bambu spools would be pretty big, but it's extremely easy to just change the settings in the AMS and the manufacturers have profiles for settings.

Biggest thing I've learnt so far is just slowing down my first layer speeds and making sure my print plate is clean.

      • Thanks for the response! Will you ever buy the Bambu spools or just continue with the other branded filaments?

Did you slow down the first layer speeds & clean because you started getting issues? All my prints have been working flawlessly with the Bambu sample and 1 PLA i bought. I've touched the plate now and then but haven't given it a wash since there's no issues.

        • I had some initial issues with adhesion which I was confused by because I was using 100% IPA, tried using Dishsoap and a quick scrub which worked perfectly. Then my only other issue was the first layer occasionally having some issues, after some reading I slowed down to around 40-50mm/s for the first layer and I haven't had a single issue since. Current using 1 esun petg, 1 esun petg HS and 2 overture petg's without issue after these changes.

I would 100% buy the Bambu filaments if they had a similar sale buy 10 pay $20 each or whatever for the Auto Detect, but at the $25-30(or more)mark I would just be going elsewhere.

          • @Souvis: IPA will just spread the oils, you need to use dish soap.

          • @Souvis: There's still an anniversary sale which is 10 refills for 16.99 each (1 free spool every 4 refills). It includes PLA, PLA Matte, PETG Translucent and ABS. 10 works out to be $169.90. So approx $30 difference for Bambu branded & RFID which right now I'm happy to pay that to get started.

Just going to buy some PETG from this deal to test, seems like you all are happy with JAYO/Sunlu/eSun brands.

            • @teep3: Yeah it's a good idea to use their filaments at the price if you're happy with the types they currently have in stock, I mainly wanted PETG Matte or just PETG, I'll be looking at stuff like ASA or ABS later as well.

            • @teep3: yeah not bad price for the bambu spools. I know they have been o/s of PETG HF for some time though.

Also, if you don't already have spools, you'll be sitting on a few refills or you will need to print out some spools.

I've done a few rolls of the new high speed PETG, looks great. Not quite as matte as matte PLA though.

              • @impoze: I'll be hoping for a good sale on the PETG HF when it comes back instock, Though I've just bought 11 spools of PETG Matte from this sale which should keep me going a while lol.

                • @Souvis: how do you get 11, or did you do 11 PETG + 9 other :)

                  • @impoze: I just added 11 spools instead of 10 and it seemed to keep the price per spool, unless i ended up paying full for 1 which i dont think so .

                    • @Souvis: hm, it still takes 4x off for me.

I did a test case of 11x PETG rolls.

Discount changes from $96.50 (10 rolls) to $96.58 (11 rolls)

                      • @impoze: Yes it seems so, not the end of the world to pay 17% off for one spool at least lol. could have done worse.

              • @impoze: Thanks, yeah I'll be buying 12 refills which includes 3 free spools and also 4 extra high temp spools for 3.39 each. Hopefully that's enough for now

          • +1

@Souvis: @Souvis as @impoze mentioned dont use IPA it spreads the oil instead of removing.

I am a big fan of a spray of original Windex, the ammonia actually removes the oils. Then either paper towel or microfibre cloth.

I find no matter what I do, I end up touching the plate after washing. I only do Windex. You can get 5ltrs for $20 of it at bunnings.

  • is PLA META any good? The white before all discount is $22/roll … seems to be the cheapest

    • Yeah prints fine, typical PLA shine

Just less colours in the range

  • Cant you get this price on aliexpress?

    • Probably like Kingroon 10x petg but you can't mix and it will take longer to arrive

Jayo arrives to me in 2 days

    • I have never been able to get close through Aliexpress, even though the same stores sell on both sites.

  • Most of the good deals wont ship to my location (230kms from Perth) - shame as there are some good prices.

    • Check all the stores, some have the $20 shipping option

      • +1

I've checked most stores. They either wont ship to my location, or they want $70 shipping. One or two might ship but they didnt have the right filament options for me anyway.

EDIT: Jayo-3D store says Order 5 Pay 3 but only applies an Order 3 get 2 so your best bet is to try for a buy 6 get 4.

  • I cant really get any of the deals to make sence for me. Still works out better for me to buy from anycubic

    • Whats a sample order you did from anycubic to compare?

  • +8

I've now updated my spreadsheet with all the new stock and pricing. To simplify, it's all on one sheet now with filters.

Thanks for doing these lists. Aopreciate it.

    • My recommendation - avoid the "Easy ABS". I've had nothing but trouble with it. Had endless clogs and jams and had to pull the head off my P1S multiple times to get it to run. I have two rolls and - even after running through multiple troubleshooting steps with customer support - I'm really wary about printing with them. Hoped support would just refund or replace them but it didn't happen.

  • As a first time spool buyer. What would someone recommend in getting for the first 10 rolls?

    • +1

      Answered above already but

Get a mix of these to start off:

      • Matte PLA
      • PLA 2.0
      • Silk PLA
      • PLA Marble

It will show a good range of the variations in terms of their visual appearances

      • Is there preference to what colours for each type?

Im thinking cos if something to be painted ie might be best to be grey and matte?

        • Grey is a good colour if you want to paint the model.

          • @edfoo: What material is best for paint?

            • @Jklaro: any PLA will be fine.

If you plan to prime before painting, it doesn't matter what colour.

      • Is glow in the dark pla ok? Ive read it could be issue for ams and for the .4mm head.

  • +1

Might be worth noting that I live in rural Tassie and SunLu will ship on their eBay store for $9.99 flat fee but Jayo won't ship at all.

    • +1

Shame about the regional variance. I live in metropolitan Sydney so it is free shipping from Jayo.

  • Good news!! Thank you OP i just bought a couple bambu printers to start in this hobby, lovin it so far. Just wondering if anyone knows of colors that are unique with bambu compared to jayo/sunlu. Ill try to compare myself tomorrow but if someone already know sth, it would be awesome.

    • You can get most basic colours in both but some of the variations aren't yet available like glitter, sparkle.

  • Sorry for the newbie questions - for the more experienced 3D Printer people:

    1) Now that I've ordered a heap of filament spools, what are people using to store their filament - esp ones which require being dry (e.g. PETG, TPU, CF, etc) - do you use those filament bags with the vacuum seal devices (if so which ones are any good - any recommendations?) or a filament spool canister (cereal box type thing - looks like some even have a hole for the filament to come out of - again any recommendations) or just a big plastic crate tub with lid to hold a bunch of spools - all presumably with some desiccant inside

    2) How important is it to keep PLA dry (either stored between use or drying before use)? Lots of places including Bambu say it's "Optional" but I was trying to get a gauge - say scale of 1-10 general importance - for a home in Sydney if it matters - e.g. I don't want to both if 99% of the time likely no issues and if it ever is then will dry it (in the AMS2 Pro when Bambu eventually sends me my damn Buffer kit!!! that comes with the Combo)

    3) I've ordered a bottle of that colour changing desiccant silica beads (2-4mm) - any suggested reusable bags or containers, etc to put it into to put with the spools (either in the vacuum bags/canisters/large crate tub recommended above)?

    4) I see that "Sunlu" profiles exist in Bambu Studio - do profiles also exist for the JAYO filament? (are they already in Bambu studio or do I have to download from somewhere and install?) (I now have a number of spools of both brands)

I actually thought that the JAYO and Sunlu were "essentially the same" but I've noted in looking at the specs for various filaments that their properties appear different - e.g. the JAYO PETG has a stated (TDS) Heat Deflection Temp of 63˚C but the Sunlu PETG says 68˚C

    • +1
      1. vacuum bags with some desiccant inside
      2. PLA is not as sensitive to moisture as other filaments, I would only think about drying PLA once my print starts to show signs of PLA being wet
      3. I've printed out desiccant dry boxes for AMS and ones that fit into the spool hole and put all my silica gel beads in them. Store the rest in a vacuum bag/zip lock. You can always reactivate them when you need to use them.
      4. I've used sunlu profile with jayo filament no issues for both PLA and PETG. I've also used the bambu PLA/PETG and Generic PLA/PETG profiles with jayo filaments and it turned out fine too.
  • How are you all getting $120.10 delivered? I've added a mix of PLA (PLA, PLA matte, marble, glow and pla+2.0), it seems to apply the buy 6 get 4 free discount so total price is $192.20, less 17% is $157.

  • +1

pricing is different for each material & variation.

    See flippsy's spreadsheet

    • ahh got it. so really the price in title is if you were to just order 10 x PETG Black/White

  • How does it compare to Bambu Lab in terms of print ? The Bambu Lab store has the pools of PLA at $20/kg by 6.

    • many of us here use JAYO/SUNLU on our bambu's

I've actually never used any Bambu filament on my A1, only jayo, sunlu, siddament and some other odd rolls.
