200-220, and we've got a deal. 7700 goes on sale for 250 regularly on aliexpress. ig 16 cores could be useful to someone.

not a drop in upgrade for am4 users and this is 40% faster in multicore

I've got the Tachi X570 and no doubt I'll need to do the bios upgrade to to support. Bought!

Expired deal :P Also this is more of a productivity focused CPU for the AM4 platform and you've linked a gaming CPU for the AM5 platform. Different target audiences.

      • when is the next 7700 deal from Ali?

        • +3

Not sure. They tend to pop up mid-month.

      • So, is there any upgrade path left apart from this CPU for me on AM4?

I've currently got an 3900XT with Asus Crosshair 8 Hero MB.

I assume you can't get the 5700X3D or 5800X3D anymore? How far off is the 5900XT for gaming compared to those (I'm not a big gamer). I know the 5900XT is going to be a lot better than my 3900XT, but not sure how it compares to the dedicated gaming CPUs.

Also, the 7700 or 7800X3D, how would they compare to the 5900XT for productivity if upgrading to AM5 platform?

So an inferior productivity CPU 😝

      • you mean doing something useful for humanity? No good deed goes unpunished. Print it in A3 and stick on the wall.
