Seems to be cheaper now at Amazon than it is with AliExpress. Long time user, but first post here.

Would have bought it myself but recently bought a different NAS

This one has heating issues, check the Jeff geerling videos on it

GMK are now saying enhanced cooling on their website in response. I'm curious what they've done, as you basically need to stick a fan on the bottom with the cover removed.

Yeah but the GMKtec store on Amazon are selling the old overheating model cheap. That's what is linked to this deal. The upgraded model is also available but way more expensive (https://www.amazon.com.au/GMKtec-Computer-Attached-Upgraded-…). It's cheaper on Aliexpress.

I never said it was in this deal. Rather I was saying they've addressed it in a revision.

Fortunately glyptothek understood what I said.

        • how do you tell if its an upgraded model…whats the difference?

GMK have increased top vents from 2 to 4, and side vent is now a cutout vent rathen than the perforated holes in case- have a look at original and upgraded model photos on Amazon

        • Oh that’s good to know .

But did this improvement solve the issue? I tried to find any post improvement review but no luck.
If th heating issue solve , I would like to go for it.
          Anyway thanks for this update.

      • My question is where the hell was their testing prior to release? If they had to make a design change to fix such a massive and obvious flaw.

        • +1

Probably tested to the point that the OS was loaded and a RAID array configured. Certainly no proper long term use. I'm sure they wanted to pump something out quickly before the other manufacturers followed suit.

Disappointing really. I'll probably go for the 6 slot Beelink equivalent now.

Bought one of these - had to return it as my SSDs were at 60-80 much of the time -in cold weather Can imaging in summer much higher ! Easy return - there is a newer version on Amazon and AliExpress with UPGRADED MODEL/enhanced cooling for $379 Amazon / $275 AliExpress with code a few days ago - bought at AliExpress, waiting for delivery
Overall system is actually very good and very versatile and great to tinker with

  • Is the 512gb in one of the 4 m2 slots?

    • Yes so you have to factor this in - I got 1TB version from Amazonn- had 1tb drive plust 1tb, 1 4tb 1 2tb - returned unit but cloned OS NVME onto 2TB for when I receive Upgraded Cooling G9

  • What is the 64GB MMC in the title mean?

    • It has an internal soldered 64GB eMMC chip for the Linux Ubuntu - you can swipe and install other Linux distros as per GMKTec website support. Not sure if you can install Win11 on this internal chip

      • Oooh that's interesting, I've never seen that before. good to know.

      • +1

handy so you don't have to use one of the NVME drives as host or set up partition.

        • Can you install Win 11 on the 64 GB eMMC? Would it be large enough?
