        What happens when you don't send the device? I heard that Samsung can charge you for the value of the trade-in coupon on top of the $30/$60 fee. Also, they can remotely lock your phone if you don't pay when they charge you the coupon value. I put my Apple Watch 8 as the trade in and was planning to send it, but now I am worried as there are several cases where they make up a defect and undervalue the device.

          Thats all incorrect. If you don’t send the trade in device, they only charge you $30/$60 device non return fee. Thats it. Have done similar deals at least a dozen time and never had any issue at all

    And of course, my Samsung buds I got a few years back are now dead - in retrospect probably should have got the Buds 3 instead of a power bank I didn't need but oh well.

    I also just got the Startrack tracking number in auspost app. Shows item processed at sorting facility Sydney NSW on Fri 18th July 10:38am. But order status on Samsung Shop App still showing awaiting dispatch ships from 23rd July.
    I placed order on 12th July for Jetblack Fold7 512GB with Watch 8.

    Im considering not sending in my trade in phone or just sending some random old phone instead can someone confirm how much i will be charged.
    Trade in for 8 plus was $40 so if i dont send it in or if i send in a random s5 mini which would be the better option

          Not sending device is in their term (on which you agreed to pay the admin fee). It’s different. We already got a good deal, pls don’t abuse by trying to avoid paying that admin fee

    What case to put it in?! I bought a cheapo 15 dollar one from Amazon just to begin with, but seeing as I'm very clumsy and have young kids, I want max protection for it, not worried about thickness, and hoping for the magsafe ring to lock it in place in the car when I'm driving - what have y'all bought? Looked at Supcase, Spigen & Otterbox and man they are all expensive. But do I just bite the bullet if I want to play it safe?

      I've been using the Spigen Slim Armor Pro for every iteration I've had of the Fold…currently on 6. Pricey but no complaints, keeps phone and hinge protected without toooo much added bulk.

      Spigen are also good at honouring warranty claims which I have made in the past.

          I have had both screen protector and case warranty claims honoured through Spigen customer support. I just got in touch, let them know what the issue was (i.e. unintentional damage due to manufacturing defect etc.) and they sent me out a replacement at no charge. They do ask for photos and description of the issue.

        Do you have a Magsafe ring holder to try? I believe that majority of cases with the hinge protection won't be able to stand it vertically. Sometimes I like to read news by standing the device verticially. Therefore I have to choose the case without the hinge protection.

          Can't say I've had any experience with the Magsafes. That does seem annoying though.

          To me hinge protection is non-negotiable after my ZF2 died from a drop onto the hinge

      I bought a Nillkin Super Frosted Shield Fold Case for $44 — about the same price as on AliExpress. If you can get cashback, it's actually cheaper from AliExpress.

      But front part of all cases is always tricky and lift the screen protector. So need to teat that for cases+screen protector

        I bought the first one after seeing your comment earlier, but it’s not as good as I expected. The back attracts a lot of fingerprints, and the front left edge is too weak — it shifts every time I touch it. It should have had double-sided tape to hold it more securely to the screen, like the Galaxy Z Fold7 Capella case does. Since neither case protects the hinge, I bought the Nillkin one. I hope it’s as good as I expect.

          I bought the 2nd one earlier. Its fits snuggly but interferes with the glass screen protector I installed despite protectors is a few mm short of the screen edges. So, I ordered the 2nd one last night hoping it would be a better one. It was delivered today but haven’t tested it yet.
          Can anyone else recommend any slim profile case with MagSafe magnet that works well with the glass screen protectors. Not sure if Samsung anti-reflector film will work with these cases.

            @KB57: Same, I got it from Samsung too. Since it doesn't protect the hinge, so I bought the Nillkin one . I'm not sure if I can return it to Samsung.

            @OZBsince2018: I received the case today. Their website mentioned 3–5 days shipping, but it took over 10 days to arrive. Even if I had ordered from AliExpress, I might’ve received it sooner.
            The case itself is really nice. I’ve bought one from Amazon, one from eBay, and even the most expensive one from Samsung — but this is the best. It even includes four double-sided straps for the left side edge frame if the film screen protector is replaced.
            Now I can move the edge panels to the left, as this case is lower than the Samsung one.
            The only drawback is that it doesn’t have a magnetic ring and is 3cm wider due to the hinge protection.

    Anyone share their experience with the battery life? Seems the Fold 7 ticks all the right upgrade boxes over the Fold 6 but maintains small 4400 mAh battery. Bit of a deal breaker for me and hesistant to pull the trigger to buy one unless the battery life is good.

      I've had the fold 7 for 2 days now and the battery seems abysmal. Doesn't charge very fast either

      I came from the iPhone 16 pro max.

      I'm thinking I might return it although I really did want it to work out 😔

        Most devices need atleast a week or two of your battery usage pattern thereafter does get better. Probably give it another week or so :)

        The battery size and charging speed aren't the best on Samsung fold series. I have been upgrading the fold device every year and do enjoy the experience of the big screen. However it's a bit of annoying that the expensive device charges at such low speed and has so small battery capacity. The nature of android OS definitely needs a bigger battery comparing to IOS. I don't think you should compare the battery life of Fold 7 to Iphone 16 pro max as both are built for a different purpose.

      I upgraded from a fold4 - absolutely fantastic battery life for me so far on the 7.
      I set up as a new phone and not from backup - have found in the past that can help!

      Mine's been very good. 7-8 hours screen on time, sometimes more as a power user. Much better than my S24 Ultra which is not what I was expecting. Very impressed.

    Anyone else's trade in from Asurion bug out? Never received a notification or label to return my Flip 7 order, and the Samsung order page says 'UpdateError' under the trade in. For my Fold I got an email immediately and the order page says 'Updated'. I guess I'll avoid the $30/60 fee on that one.

    I received a call today saying that my trade in device is not eligible. So they need to charge back the trade in bonus. I was asked to provide invoice to show the amount of trade in bonus I used in order to let them charge my credit card. Anyone else received such a call?

      That's odd, they normally just charge back to Trade price, usually you get to keep the Trade In Bonus.
