This is Japan stock, though it only requires a USB C cable to charge the device/doesn't come with a wall adapter anyhow.

The device is a pre-order on Amazon AU for $49 - people have apparently ordered the Japanese version with no issues (based on a Reddit post I saw), though do your own research.

AU listing: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0F889ZMC5 (Edit: AU listing appears to have just gone live, if you would rather pay RRP for AU stock)

For those who want to hard wire a video doorbell or get a more premium Tapo battery option - RRP of $249 (Australian stock)

Tapo TP-Link Video Doorbell | Battery or Wired | 180° Ultra-Wide Head-to-Toe View | Ring Call | 2K QHD | Free Package/Person Detection | Local & Cloud Storage | Full Color Night Vision D225

$158.50

https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D8MKQ5RC

US Stock, will need an adapter for the chime. A more budget hard-wired version of the D235. It has a 4MP sensor instead of 5MP with the D235. I suspect that it may also have worse night vision, as the D235 has the starlight sensor. Do your own research to double check you can wire in Australia and compare the differences

  • What if you dont put a password in the camera?

    • +2

I don't think TP-Link Tapo has a reputation of unsecured cameras on the internet, if that is what you mean. You generally register an account in the app and add devices to it, with the option of 2FA for the account and device sharing.

      • thanks, to be sure though… anyone?

  • Has anyone installed these outdoor cameras to their wall but run the cable via a cable trunk/tube along the outside rather than drilling a big hole through their wall?

When solar guys did their install and run it through the garage wall and render, they had full on SDS hammer drills and long bits, and still took them a bit of effort. Can't say I want to do that plus it'll probably look raggedy and rubbish by me.

    • As compared to external trunking by you that will look schmick…?

      • lol ok to be more specific I mean more permanent damage like big chips or cracks off the render around it, not aligning the holes, or just if ever removing it.
Plus come to think of it I don't have the SDS equipment and bits anyway.

        • Are you just refering to the power cable (and using WiFi) or power + ethernet?

          • @FrontBottom: Yeah hopefully just the power cord, and connecting through wifi. Typical cable trunking would hold both easily though.

I run the power cable out of the gap at the top of my garage door, haven't had problems in 1+ years

      • Do you have any trunking/covering over the cable on the length that is exposed outside?

        • It's under the eaves of the roof so not getting derectly rained on but exposed to sunlight. As long as your connections are safe from water you'll be fine.

  • Can i use sd card and store camera footages n this hub?

    • This hub does quite a bit, I don’t think you can store video footage in it though. Most Tapo cameras take a microSD card directly, otherwise they have a much more expensive hub for this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Tapo-H500-HomeBase-Expandable-Comp…

      • Yes, i store in camera at the moment, was looking for option to store in the hub, but $220 is a bit expensive. With this hub, will the cameras communicate via router or they directly communicate with the hub?
