previous ATL posted for $594. how much is it normally? $649 (non Prime price - some places selling for $950 wow).

no way I'm spending $500 on headphones but saw a few posted in this price range. (HD490 Pro for more than this, HD600 is normally ~$400 I remember seeing $299 once but that was just before covid )

just from the Sennheiser AU page image, looks like it actually has more bass than the 600 or 650 (the 600 line looks like the 660 S line in the picture).

for some reason the official Senn page doesn't have any more info to add than the amazon page. ok found it on the US page.

Do we still need to bother other sub 500$ headphone when ft1 and ft1 pro exists ?

The 600 series is timeless and for discerning ears. FT1 are great with EQ, less refined.

Personally I would rather keep my FT1 and Edition XS and have these for similar coin.

What about for people who can only afford a single special pair of headphones

I know I posted this but look at the graphs.

HD600 series including 660S2 all have almost no bass below ~80Hz. I find it weird to be honest why so many audiophile subreddit people love this headphone or have good feelings towards it. 660S2 has a bit more bass than 660S, and also 600, and on 660S2 page it says "you will feel the full weight of piano notes" so maybe that little difference is more than I think.

but yeah a more powerful amp isn't going to magically bring everything below 80Hz higher. idk but maybe I am not a german audio engineer so I know nothing about what sounds "natural".

all my basic ass brain knows is headphone jack output impedance can have a effect. but from what i know if it's a match (below 1/8 of headphone) it sounds exactly like the graph, if it's not a match (over 1/8 ratio) it actually boosts just the area on the headphone that has high impedance. on HD600 it's 100hz.

600 series are 300ohm. so you need an amp with 37.5ohm output impedance to get a boost at 100hz. afaik majority of headphone jack output is ~1ohm or <1ohm.
deleted. whoops I was looking at the blue line which was phase.

The HD 600 is $300 on the same listing—that’s a great price.

it was already posted I think.

and stupid me didn't connect the dots how I saw it for $299 before covid, and it's now $300 only $1 more. 😭

      • $300 is good for TRS being the minimum

They are $450 with coupon at the moment

I have the 560s. Should I go for this, or is the hd 6xx at $250 (new, fb market place) worth an upgrade?

    • +1

from what I heard 560S is one of the best sennheisers in terms of overall sound.

if you go to 600 or 660S2 you will think you have no bass.
