This is the cheapest I've seen the Shokz opencomm 2.
You could also get it for $199 if you haven't signed up for JB perks previously for the $10 coupon on sign up

Ah good pickup. I was nearly misled by the 'USB-C Adapter' and didn't notice the 'Magnetic Induction Charger'.
Thanks for pointing that out. I love the website says "New at JB!" but it's the older version
This seems to be the updated version if anyone is interested. $268

The non UC version is at $208-209, both on Amazon and on OpenComm's website.

I wouldn't pay $60 more for that UC.
It's a big price jump, but if using for meetings in Windows then I'd pay it. I did pay it, for this exact model. Windows and bluetooth for meetings can be a PITA with dome back mic quality, using a UC dongle works much much better.
I love this headset, I wear it nearly all day, 5 days a week. Super comfy, the best mic quality with background noise suppression and long long battery life. Only niggle is that if it disconnects from the PC (you walk out of range), it often doesn't auto-reconnect, and on the PC there is no software to reconnect it, you need turn on/off or remove/reinsert the dongle. Otherwise great headset.
@eeney: Had the same issue until I found that if you tap the volume up button it reconnects to both devices it’s paired with. This is on the USB-C version, haven’t tested on the original version.
@alfrsr: I haven't tried with a Windows laptop yet.
With Macbook/Android phones - no connection issues at all.
I always have it connected to two devices at once (laptop and phone). On the phone, the connection does timeout. What I need to do is to reconnect on the phone.
(Mine is the original version)
Agree with eeney, the UC adapter is way better than native Bluetooth with windows. More reliable and longer range.
You can get the adapter in its own, but I think it’s $70 or $80.
It's weird they don't change the name, to something like OpenComm 2.1. That difference is bigger than the diff between OpenComm and OpenComm2
I just picked up my shokz.. It's usb c instead of the magnetic charging cable
Awesome!
Just to clarify, you bought this OpenComm 2 UC from JB HiFi and you got the 2025 upgrade version with USB C charging? Did the box say 2025 version? Huge if true
I just picked up one from Doncaster. It is the 2025 upgrade version. The box says it.
Yes the box says 2025 version
nice. I was thinking of waiting for a special like this on the opencomms, but then just ended up buying the huawei freebuds pro 4
Nice headphones. I've been using it (the magnetic charging version) for a year.
3 things that I didn't like:
- Proprietary charging cable
- No easy way to know whether the device is turned on or off, and "hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn on or off" is annoying. For most of the time, I needed to do that twice to start using the headphones. Why don't they turn it on with just one press?
- Notification sounds are too loud
I just lost my aftershokz for the gym, would this be a good replacement? Or this are not good for exercising?
Nah these are for meetings, go for the open run pro (should be in clearance) or open run pro 2 (new release)
Edit: Here you go 😄
Heads up this is the older version of the OpenComm 2 UC that still uses the magnetic charging cable. The 2025 version uses a USB-C port on the headset.
