This is a single function printer. There is another deal for the Brother 3-in-1 printer, scanner, copier (multifunction) which may suit the average person better at: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/915434 which is only around $20 more expensive.

The single function printer suits me better as I don't need copying or scanning and I prefer the faster speed of the printer only. The first page speed of this printer is around 14 seconds vs 25 seconds for the 3-in-1. And 27 pages per minute compared to 18. I also want to put it on a shelf so the smaller size and non opening lid is a plus for me.

I have been using the older model of this (HL-L3230CDW) for a couple of years with eBay generic toner and it is still working very well. I am buying this one for a different location.

The generic toner on eBay is around $140 for 5 cartridges for this printer compared to around $70 for 5 cartridges for my older printer. But hopefully the price comes down over time.

      Another plus is wired Ethernet (as well as wireless), useful in places where AP aren't a thing or you have some silly enterprise AP that requires all sorts of hoops to get on to.
