    Replaceable High-yield Toners available

    How much do they cost?

    • +36

I can certainly understand why you'd ask that question JV. When you print everything in bold, toner cost would definitely be a big consideration

      • +1

Nah, it just turns off more pixels, reducing my power bill.

        • +4

I use dark mode so it costs me more

        • You spend time formatting it and thinking which one to bold, negating all the savings.

        • -1

We all make fun of jv sometimes but ozbargain needs a jv. Thanks for the laughs

      • At least he doesn't print in colour, so JV can just get a cheaper black & white laser printer instead.

  • Decisions. Decisions.
Shall I cancel my HP Smart Tank 7305 order and get this one instead.

      Brother > HP

    • +3

Owning a HP printer now makes me question most of my life's choices. It's the worst printer, despite all the bells and whistles. Good for the brother.

      • Which Hp? What went wrong?

        • +3

          What went wrong?

          Homicide squad are still investigating.

          • +1

@jv: JV. Happy to see you are still around.

            • +1

              @bashar20:

              see you are still around.

I've actually trimmed off a few kgs.

    • +2

Easy decision between these two. If you are planning to print more colourful photos, then a colour inkjet printer is better than a colour laser printer.

      • +2

IMO inkjets are an expensive con. If you want great looking photo prints you'll get them more cheaply from much more high end equipment from Officeworks or the like.

        • +1

Of course don't buy those inkjet printers still using printer cartridges that only hold a few ml of liquid gold, those are highway robbery. I am talking about inkjet using ink tanks. But if you need dozens of photos, then it is still cheaper to have them processed at the photo lab in OW, BigW, Harvey Norman etc.

    • I was looking at the HP but missed out, since it’s under $300 can claim on tax immediately as the printer would be 80% work use.

Since this is over $300 I think it needs to be depreciated over a number of years

    • +2

The only reason you should buy a HP is if you truely hate life and want nothing more than to throw away money.

This is why amongst many other things.

OzBargainers don't let other OzBargainers buy HP

  • Can't be delivered

    • Too heavy perhaps ?

      • +7

He ain't heavy, he's my Brother DCP-L3520CDW Compact Colour Laser Printer

        • Your welfare is of my concern…

    • I had the same issue that it wouldn't deliver to my postcode for the Brother HL-L3280CDW on Amazon. I had to create an Australia Post parcel locker (free) for a suburb 50 minutes away from me and that worked.

  • I got the MFC version from deal below in the link from 2023, and I’m still on the starter toners. Printed a lot of pages.

    • Same.. I recently replaced the black toner with a 2 pack of toner from amazon for $35.. works great :) cheap printing :)

  • +1

Will it support 3rd party ink ? Any idea how much ?

    • -4
      • that was quite useless .

        • -2

Don't blame the messenger if you don't like the message.

    • -1

      From Google Search, Ai Response:

"Yes, the Brother DCP-L3520CDW printer can technically use third-party toner cartridges, but it's not recommended by Brother. While some users report success with them, others have experienced issues with print quality, machine reliability, and even voided warranties. "

$150 for the 4 or $40 for just the black (Check Ebay)

    • Been using the cheap toners on a similar Brother model, but YMMV.

One recommendation is not to update the firmware to ensure Brother don't block them.

  • Got one, thanks!

  • Just confirming, are the toners sold separately?

There are 2 prices, $359 for the printer, $618 for the printer & toner.

    • +1

That other listing doesn't exist. Yes, you get the printer and toner.

    • +1

The $359 printer includes starter toner. The $618 option would include the starter toner as well as a set of 4 full toners.

  • In case anyone is interested in the Brother HL-L3280CDW which is the printer only version of this 3-in-1 device, I posted a new deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/915500

  • Shows as $449 for me, is the deal expired or is it location pricing shenanigans from Amazon?

    • same for me

      • Same for me. Disappointing as prime day is still active
