I wonder if anyone has experience with Aldi whitegoods - do they last long?

    • +4

I use mine every single day. Hasn't let me down once in 5 years.

Don't overload it, keep it clean and clean the filter every couple of months.

Mine from a couple of years ago is going great.
Though with ALDI, every model is a different supplier.
Does this come with a descent 3 year warranty like mine? If so, hard to lose.

That's a good point - Stirling is just a badge on whomever wins the contract.
Hopefully they are still using the same supplier with the washers that The Value above experienced

I have an Aldi heat pump dryer that I purchased for 499? I think a few years ago. Still going strong, was filled up half way with water during Cyclone Alfred floods, and after emptying it out and opening it up in the sun for a few days it's still going strong.

On the other hand my Series 6 Bosch washing machine died from the flood. Bought a Series 8 Bosch (only 4 months old) and have had nothing but problems. Initially with the display panel, and now seems to have a flood issue with water leaking from the base of the machine.

      • and now seems to have a flood issue with water leaking from the base of the machine.

My Bosch Serie 6 does this if you put too much in it, so far hasn't done it with lighter loads but it definitely doesn't like being chockablock full.

The dishwasher that i inherited in our place was brand new Stirling one. And its a real piece of crap. Gives the vibe of something that people would only ever put in a rental.

    • Garbage. Repairman laughed at how badly it was designed. Took two months to get parts (a door seal). Failed after warranty ran out. Bought an LG, so much better.

    • My washing machine is now 3 years and still going strong (2-4 washes weekly)

My dryer died after 2 years of infrequent use (1-2 uses a month)

      Your mileage may vary

We’ve got a Stirling front loader that we bought in 2009. I’ve changed the bearings, drive belt and motor brushes. It should keep it going for another 15 years

$5 a kilo. Cheaper than a lot of fruit!

Theyre selling the 10kg unit atm, so the 8kg unit must be runout stock at this price of $299, especially given the cheapest front loader at JB is $499, and for $399 you only get a 6kg front loader at TGG.

Even then, the 10kg at $499 seems a bargain with all the tech including steam.

  • Do they deliver? Or do I need to get a van or truck and buy in-store?

    • you need to figure it out yourself,no delivery

    • Load it up onto one of their trolleys and push (or drag) it home. Don't forget to bring the $1 coin to unlock it. :-)

    • Taxi should work.

Front-loaders are very heavy - you'll want to bring a proper cargo trolley.

But they have transport bolts, so you can lie it down in the back of a small hatchback.

  • on the website it shows 349 at my local aldi

    • Same $349

      North Coast NSW

  • Couldn't find a specs page for this model, but here's a link to the manufacturer page from last year's 2024 model STR-FLW8WW

ALDI-STIRLING 8kg Front Load Washing Machine

  • We had the 9kg version. Model Number: STR-FL90, Product # 703311, purchased on 11/2020 and the door failed on 05/2022. Returned and refunded under 3 years Aldi Warranty.

    • That was nice that Aldi gave a refund.

I purchased a washer at TGG with 3 year warranty and the manufacturer wanted me to agree that I will be responsible for $150 service call fee even thought I had video recording of intermittent faults in the front loader machine where water leaks or the machines keeps washing and washing for an extra 1-2 hours. I told them that since this is an intermittent issue I may not be able to replicate the problem and hence I took the video

I paid $499 for a 10kg front loader from Aldi a few years ago (model no. SFLW10S) I use it daily, washing for 8 people and never had a problem. It'd be better if it had a few different settings as i don't use half of what is there but it does a good job, definitely worth it.

  • does anyone know the Stirling 10kg Front Loader Washer from a month ago - is it a rebrand of an Esatto washer or some other brand?

    • It does look like it has made by Essato all over it.

It's very similar to the Essato 10kg Front Load washing machine model EFLW10W. The bottom right lint filter flap is even exactly the same and in exactly the same position. And also so is the feet exactly the same. Even the front doors are exactly the same as well as the inside drum.

This washing machine is clearly made by Essato. It's not really a model rebrand but for what i can tell it's just some model which Essato has custom manufactured for ALDI and slapped the brand name Stirling on it. That's what i can make out of it. Because the exact same model doesn't currently appear on the Essato web site.

      https://esatto.house/laundry/p/10kg-front-load-washing-machi…

      Compared to https://www.aldi.com.au/product/stirling-10kg-front-load-was…

Got the vibe of made by Essato all over it.

Also i was at the local ALDI today and i saw a bunch of these Stirling 10kg Front Load Washing Machines in stock. So check your local ALDI stores if they might still have any residual stock left.

  • Anyone knows how to check stock in sydney? My haier washing machine seal just broke. Absolute piece of crap and it is less than a year old.
