    Perth?

    • want to know as well

      • Me too!

      • Only Victoria for now..

    • For now, we service only Victoria state.

      • Since you only service Victoria, please prefix your title with [VIC].

Does $4,999 + GST mean a GST-inclusive price of $5498.90? Or is there a GST-exempt component to the $4,999 price so that the GST payable is less than $499.90?

      • Since you chose to not answer our question, we have added the full 10% GST to your title price.

        • +1

And since it's illegal to offer GST free pricing to the general public, I'd say that's a good thing. Businesses have got to stop putting +GST on prices when advertising other than B2B!!

  • +1

    Looks like Victoria only?

    • Yes. For now, it is Victoria residents.

  • +10

$4,999 + GST? So… $5,498.90? Title should be updated with complete price.

    • +7

Agree, end user quotes/prices require GST to be included in the advertised price!

  • VPP compatible?

    • +2

It has to be right? To qualify for the federal rebate?

    • Yes, it is Virtual Power Plant ready.

  • The blackout protection is included in the price?

How much can this system output at once?

    • +1

      Nominal voltage: 230V, charging/discharging current: 20A

      230V x 20A = 4600W

  • +6

What would be the cost difference for 3-phase?

  • +1

    The price seems great!

I currently have an existing Sungrow traditional inverter, but it’s not compatible with a battery.

1). Do I need to replace the Sungrow inverter (model SG5K-D), and will there be any additional cost for that?

2). Or does the all-in-one system cover everything?

3). Would I need to remove the non-compatible Sungrow inverter?

4). Does it work on power outage?

    @ipromiseau

  • +1

    Impossible price.
    Sounds like a cowboy scam.
Or a catch for the unwary

Average cost of 20 kWh battery is around $10k.
Are these items on the CEC approved list?

    • +4

You can get goodwe 5kw/19.2kwh installed for under 6K in VIC btw.

This is probably just the price of dealing with a less known brand.

      • I dunno their battery tech history but isn't midea like one of the biggest companies in china?

        • Big for what though.

I trust Midea for rice cooker, aircon, etc. But not sure with battery.

Its just like Samsung being great for TVs, phones, etc but terrible for whitegoods.

          • @meong: Right thought you meant that you've never heard of the brand before. Didn't even realise Midea has waded into battery tech but seems like they've simply taken over Hiconics who's been doing this since the early 2000s.

            • @vawiyoci: Yeah i grew up in an Asian country and when i had my multi head aircon installed, i chose Midea instead of TCL cause I already knew so many Midea aircon overseas.

But my TV is now TCL due to poor experience with Samsung 😅

For budget battery range id rather pick Goodwe than Hiconics.

          • @meong: How about Samsung batteries?

            • @TEER3X: Does Samsung even make solar batteries?

      • Currently? I thought that deal expired?

    • I just got a quote for a SAJ system for under 6k similar size.

      Sigenergy for 9k but 16kwh (vs 20)

Although its not impossible, there has to be a material difference between them, one side of me says its worth the punt for the cheaper but the other side of me says there is a reason the popular brands are popular and people spend the extra…..

      also this is telling;
      https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/best-home-batteries-2025…

    • Only because you're not in the loop. Neovolt has been offering 30kwh ac coupled package with just a bit higher than this price so that's the market rate for ac coupled nowadays. Elon can smoke with his power wall.

  • +1

Saw a 50kwh battery system including install for same price
They were cec approved with a bunch of ither certs and a local warehouse

    • +1

what brand? but midea is larger and better?

    • +1

Where did you see this, I’d be interested in getting that deal!

    • 50kwh for $5.5k??? That's gotta be a scam, nothing in the market at the moment is that cheap.

    • Interested

    • I’ve found it, it’s Huracane Energy they’re based in Campberfield vic. Their site doesn’t work so you can check them on Facebook, I just searched for 50kwh battery. It’s a 51.2Kwh Dyness battery (could be 5x10kwh) and solis s6 inverter 5kw. The deal according to them is that each deposit you place down is refundable. The initial deposit is $100 only to secure your spot then $3000 10 days after that and $2000 before install.

  • +3

How many kw is the inverter? This is important to know how wuickly you can charge.

    • They don't list the inverter power specs on their site or in this post for a reason… lol

      • I agree 😂

  • +2

What is the meaning behind the Government rebate "application assistance", instead of the normal method?
-The user does not normally claim this, it is assigned to the installer.
-Why no specification of power on the inverter? No current or power figures. Suspect its 5 kW only.
-What are the model numbers especially of the battery?

  • I have 13kw solar and 10kw inverter gogreen.

How to install battery of this size, if inverter is already present. Just installed last year

    • There is an inverter on it that will feed the batteries.

      • +1

        There will be two invertors?

    • You will need an additional inverter (AC coupled), unless yours is a Hybrid one.

      • Gotcha. My panasonic hvac ducted 18kw run day and night at 20.5c . And daily consumption is around 40kwh

        • +1

Have you considered closing the windows?

          • @Ezekiel2320: I am not sure what exactly the problem is. Single story… Single glaze windows. But everything seems closed. No idea why my power consumption is too bad

            • @Zeee: Insulation?

              • @Ezekiel2320: I think its bad may be… House was build in 2019. May be roof insulation is bad. Would take make huge difference? I get it replacd then. Any recommendations in Melbourne

                • @Zeee: And double glazing windows are way to expensive to afford. And may be little 100mil 2 3 holes in the roof in the cabinet during kitchen reno

                • +1

@Zeee: Insulation will make a huge difference. 40kWh seems like an insane… that's an approx. 7A constant draw.

Have you done a visual inspection of your roof space to see if the batts are present and in-place?
You can get a survey done by a 3rd party or hire/buy a thermal camera to survey yourself. This will uncover where you are experiencing thermal losses.

            • @Zeee: Why are you running your AC at 20.5c year round in Melbourne ?

Heat your house to 18c in winter, cool your house to 22c in summer, and turn off the AC in Spring and Autumn.

              • @Nom: 18c is freezing. 20 i feel cold

        • Silly thought, do you have a solar hot water system?
If yes, is the booster on all the time?

  • +1

Can I charge this battery using grid power as well to take advantage of free energy hour offers etc?

Or is it only able to charge via Solar?

    • Yes, the Hiconic battery can be charged using grid power as well as solar, provided it’s paired with a hybrid inverter that supports AC charging. This setup allows you to take advantage of off-peak or free energy hour offered by your energy retailer.

  • Look at their safety manager, its a dog called Prince! Shonky!
    https://ipromiseaustralia.com.au/about-ipromise/

  • Just got a quote from Midea for $7000 for system mentioned. This includes blackout protection and delivery and install to Philip Island.

  • +1

    Any three phase options?

  • +2

This seems so good! I have a 13kw solaredge system on my roof, i love it and in an ideal world, i'd pair it with a solaredge battery, but it's like 4x the price of this! I'd be crazy to pass up a deal like this right? It would be AC coupled right, so i'd lose some efficiency, but again.. 20kwh for $5.5k….

  • +1

Any good packages with either a 6.6kW or 10kW solar system with this battery set up?

  • Any similarly priced options in qld? 3 phase already have 20kw of panels

  • +1

Lot of people saying this is a good deal, what am I missing as there is another deal with 30Kwh battery for just a bit more for other states and apparently a 50Kwh for roughly the same price.
