ING Refer a Friend Offer

This offer is available for a limited time only between 16 July 2025 and 30 September 2025 and is not applicable in conjunction with any other promotional offer unless expressly indicated. ING reserves the right to extend or withdraw this offer at any time at its sole discretion. If withdrawn, ING will honour the offer in respect of all Orange Everyday accounts opened using the correct promotional code before the offer is withdrawn, provided that applicants satisfy the Eligibility Criteria below. The offer applies in respect of the original recipient of this email only.

Reward Eligibility Criteria:

The referrer can receive the bonus for each friend they refer and their friend can receive the bonus (the "offer") when the friend:

  • Opens an Orange Everyday bank account between 16 July 2025 and 30 September 2025, and enters your unique promotional code at the time of account opening (new Orange Everyday customers only). Invalid or incomplete codes will not be fulfilled;
  • Deposits $1,000 or more as a one off or cumulative payments within a calendar month from an external source (such as their pay) into their new Orange Everyday account by 30 September 2025.
  • Opens a Savings Maximiser and makes a deposit into their Savings Maximiser between 16 July 2025 and 30 September 2025 or hold an existing Savings Maximiser account; and
  • Uses their new Orange Everyday card to make 5+ settled (not pending) card purchases within a calendar month between 16 July 2025 and 30 September 2025, (excluding ATM withdrawals, balance enquiries and EFTPOS cash out only transactions), collectively the 'Eligibility Criteria'.

The offer does not apply where your friend has opened an Orange Everyday account:

  • at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed); or
  • as part of an application for an Orange Advantage Home Loan.

A calendar month is one of the 12 named months that a year is commonly divided into (e.g. July, August).

Card purchases include in store purchases, online purchases, regular card payments, payWave, Apple Pay, and Google Pay transactions made with an Orange Everyday Visa card. When using the phrase 'settled' card purchases in a calendar month, we mean that the purchases made on the card must be fully processed by the end of the last day of that month. Card purchases made in store or online this current calendar month (e.g. January 2025) which are at a 'pending status' and do not settle until the next calendar month (e.g. February 2025) count towards card purchases in that next calendar month.

We will refuse to pay the cash reward in respect of any or all referrals made in relation to this offer if, in our reasonable opinion, you have used this offer in a manner that is not satisfactory to us or otherwise not in line with the intent of the offer. This includes conduct on your part which, in our reasonable opinion, undermines the fair and intended operation of the offer, such as by (a) sharing your promotional code on the 'OzBargain' website or other similar code sharing website or on public forum, (b) advertising or marketing your referral code, or (c) altering the offer in any way, including by offering further incentives to anyone for participation in the offer.

Mod: Comments sharing your referral code will be removed, comments mentioning that you have the offer or similar will be removed as referral solicitation.

Account penalties can apply for those not following these instructions and that means you won't be part of the referral system until the penalty is finished.

Yeah, sounds nice in theory, but can end in disaster.

Quick thinking to capitalise on ubank exodus

    • +2

The $1 extra every month on balance lunacy? I have been with them for over 10 years, going to leave because of it. Where are people going?

      • +1

Same. I’m going to Macquarie (ing has the same grow your balance requirement for their savings maximiser account).

        • +1

Isnt ING worst? they also require you to do 5 car transactions per month or is that for other benefits?

      • +1

I switched to BCU for 4.9%. they have the hoops of 5 settled transactions per month and $500 deposit, but no growing of the balance requirement

        • Can you withdraw straight back the $500 after deposit?

        • Just switched and now fulfil all criteria. Do they give you a visual alert in app when you qualify for the bonus? I assume it's for the month after, not the current month?

          • @MagpieSilver: I messaged them about it, and they said that they don't have way of telling you, as the check is done at the end of the month and it's something they're working on from their IT side. If it becomes troublesome I'll go with Macquarie.

          • @MagpieSilver: I can confirm I got the bonus interest in my first month. They check if you met the condition in the current month and apply the bonus interest rate looking back. Apart from a bit of a primative website, I'm quite satisfied especially given Up bank is now undergoing enshittification too.

      • +1

Jumping to Macquarie their daily account is also good no int transaction fees

      • It’s not that hard. With ING just open a second savings maximiser in any month you know you can’t increase the balance, then choose it as the one to get next months interest bonus.

Then you only need to be greater than $0 (so put $1 in it) and transfer your money there on the first day of the following month.

    • I have family with uBank. What is the exodus about?

      • +5

ubank dropped their interest rate yesterday (and gave no warning, instant implementation). They also require you to grow your savings balance from the previous month to qualify for interest starting 1st Oct. Everything they are doing leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

  • How do I find my referral code?

    • Targeted offer. reported.

    • Just logged in to my ING & it's not listed as a current offer?!

    • in your email.

    • -1

You'll get an email but the referral code is the same as it usually is - well mine is

  • +3

Have informed my friends of this, people are reticent to switch, moved to ING as soon as they offered an everyday account, already had a savings maximiser with them, absolutely the best, ATM fees refunded (I plan & use the LPO so not to abuse this) & international transaction fees refunded, have never paid a fee in however long it's been, well over 15yrs from memory.

ING is the 4th biggest bank in the world & was not a player in the Lehman Bros mess as they have always continued with best practice.

    • Hi @Series4Episode10,

Good evening. Thanks very much for the information.

Would like to know a bit more from you (or your friends' experience).

(1st query) Regarding the message (already had a Saving Maximiser) from your post.

Will that (already had/have a Saving Maximiser) still qualify the $100 promotional credit? Did you (or your friends) get the $100 credit?

(2nd query) Pre-Existing Saving Maximiser customer able to save time (to apply) or not.

For people have a pre-existing Saving Maximiser (already there but didn't use the Saving Maximiser for a very long time), thinking of to apply the Orange One Account with Debit Card. (Main purpose: Maybe for overseas travel, or online shopping that is not billing in AUD.)

For existing holder of Saving Maximiser, is there a simplified (time saving) process (just a call to request)?

Or still need to submit lots of (same numbers of) documents (just like people who never have any account with ING)

Thanks very much for your review / comment. ☺

This is a nightmare, I can never get verified with these people and I’m not going to police station etc. All the other bank offers no problem.

  • -1

    Don’t bother. They never pay

    • +6

I've never had any issue with them paying and have used this offer many times over probably the last 10 years, as long as your friend follows the instructions properly

      • +1

        Does family member count?

        • Yeah I've done it with siblings and spouse 👍

      • Hi @ArtVandelay81,

    • nah it works. I've referred to several people. all got paid

  • +1

Good to see this offer back. Probably the best signup offer when opening an account.

    • +2

Agreed, it's better than the current Westpac / BoM $50 signup offer though this has a few more hoops to jump through.

Would be good if the ending 30 June referral thread in the post could be replaced with this current one. Not that I'm self interested.

      I think I used PointsGuru's referral last time to score $100 😅

  • Mods decided to unpublish my genuine question above regarding the ozb referral link program, which contained no form of "solicitation" whatsoever.

So I try and ask again, is the "Referrer: Do not participate in the referral system if you do not have a current $125 referral code" which expired on the "Until 30/06/2025," still a restriction or can we participate in the Ozb referral link program with the OP's type of targeted offer?

In other words is the Ozb referral link condition noted in the OP still valid?

    • +2

Aaand now it's been updated as per my initial request/question, lol…fancy accusing me of solicitation, me, whatever next :)

  • Damn, they haven't sent my referral link yet but when I clicked my last link, it has updated to the new end date.

Can anyone confirm if the old link will work?

  • +4

The offer does not apply where your friend has opened an Orange Everyday account:
at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed); or
as part of an application for an Orange Advantage Home Loan.

    • +1

      Gosh, that's harsh, 2014…

    • +1

This important piece of information is nowhere to be seen on the original post.

      • +5

I think the second-most important piece of information is where the offer terms specifically mentions OzBargain (and not in a positive way):

  • Went from $125 to $100

  • +1

    ING went downhill so bad.
Since its glory days of barefoot investor. No more international atm rebates. No more credit card with no annual fee. They took away so much good stuff. And make you jump through so many hoops to get bare minimum now.

    • +1

Yep, anyone jumping through all those hoops has issues… They seem to be actively driving away customers at the same time as trying to get more using this scheme for some reason.

  • +1

I signed up during the last promo, and the ID verification was pretty intense—way more info than I expected for a simple transaction+savings account. It was more inline to what you would expect if you were applying for a credit card.
I did manage to get verified entirely digitally after 2 weeks of wait time.
I recorded my screen when I signed up just in case there’s a dispute about the bonus. I got the bonus not long after I asked when it would be credited, without having to prove that I entered the referral code during sign up. Overall, it was a bit of a hassle but did get the bonus. YMMV

  • The process for my referral was straightforward - though the verification process took a few attempts, eventually it was resolved via ING Phone support.
My referral recipient dropped a message via ING Mobile App after all the requirements were fulfilled and got a response after 2 business days confirming that the requirements were met and bonus would be paid out. The $100 bonus was deposited a day after receiving the message.

  • I've never received any email about any kind of referral

  • So can I deposit $1000 and withdraw it every month? Still eligible to get $100 by referral code?

    • yes, deposit and withdraw is ok.

  • What’s highest payout rate?

  • +1

Now that debit card fees for the ATO have been removed, would 5x $1 card transactions to hecs meet the monthly criteria? I'd been doing this for BOQ as they allow bpay.
