I feel like, if the 9070 xt can reach $1099 on sale, it's probably only worth it to go for the 9070 if you have PSU restrictions or need a smaller card to fit in your case.

Just my opinion, still a 'good' price for the 9070 though.

      100%
for an extra $100 the XT is a no-brainer

      Finger Crossed.
Would like to upgrade my 5700 XT.

    • +2

Efficiency (and therefore waste heat output and noise) is another very good reason

    Msy still in business?

    • Owned by Kmart nowadays. It's pretty obvious once you tab back and forth with the Umart site. Just a different logo and colour

      • +9

Haha I assume you mean Umart both times, not just the latter. Otherwise this would be some extra fun trivia!

I would definitely buy an anko-branded GPU

        • +2

          Haha damn autocorrect! Definitely Umart

Umart took it over. Unart is an aussie family owned PC store.

      • Ahh that's definitely better than the other way around as I'd assumed

Graphics card prices are absurd.. This thing is marginally (about 2%) faster than the 3090 that I've been running since 2022, selling for the same price that I paid back then. ..What incentive is there for anyone to upgrade at all? AMD and Nvidia are out of touch with reality.

    • +19

I feel like that's exaggerating it a little, looking at reviews it's more like 10% faster and if you got a 3090 for 1k in 2022 you should've posted it as a deal because the normal price was ~$1500.

Simple, it just meant that you don't need to upgrade just yet.

The same way you don't need a new mobile every year up to 3-4 years window.

    • If you were in VIC, I'd be happy to buy you this new 9070 and take that dusty old 3090 off your hands ;)

      • In earnest, I only commented previously because the price tags on all current cards is absurd. I have no intention to change cards any time soon. I wasn't happy paying four digits for the 3090 when I got that either, but in my opinion what qualifies as a 'bargain' within this space now warrants very stark criticism. People who feel differently will demonstrate as much with their suddenly empty wallets I suppose.

Although I agree gpu prices are quite expensive these days, you're comparing a card released in 2020 and then you buying it used or at deep sale price some time later. (more likely used because atl sale price 2022 at ozbargain is still more than you say)

How about compare release to release price and its a huge difference.

Rx 9070 will go down in price after a few years too. Not exactly comparing fairly here.

    • It was a used card, yes. Though a 5 year old card performing on par with a current card, purchased 20 months past it's launch for the same price in the midst of a silicon shortage. If you don't feel that my comparison there is reasonable then fair enough, though I think it's a decent indicator that the customer isn't getting the performance that they pay for anymore and that it's been trending that way for a long time.

Use this as a reference point for 9070xt and 9070.
9070 should be around $899 to make it worthwhile in comparison to the 9070 xt deal.

    • +2

Yeah, it's remarkably close in price (however Sapphire is generally considered a tier above Powercolor). The power efficiency is a big draw card for the 9070 though. Uses like 72% of the power for 90% of the performance in most cases.

  • What is the ATL at this point? This seems to be the lowest price so far on OB.

    • +1

This has been a recurring ATL on ozbargain. The Sapphire was this price in March. People thought it would go down by now but it seems to have held rather steady.

      • Ahh, thanks

  • just bought one upgrading from a 6800 and doubled my frames playing forza motorsport and better in game graphics.

this was a no brainer over the XT all that would have given me was another $100 psu upgrade + another 100 for the XT, running just fine on my 600 watt psu.
