Everything about this game is right in the centre of the type of games I like, yet it’s just so… average.

    • +23

      I thought it was exceptional.

After the rocky launch it turned out great. Lots of player freedom, deep world building and the DLC adds stupid amounts of content.

      • -2

Witcher 3 nailed themes and stories. Grief, loss, vengeance, every side quest was like an epic TV show. Hard to believe CP was made my the same people. Just an empty shell, and when it tried to get philosophical, it came across like a drunk Russian that dropped out of high school, just spitting out words that might have impressed fellow teens back in the 1980’s (“what is love?!”). I haven’t play the DLC but I don’t remember it even touching any cyberpunk themes like Ghost in the Shell or The Culture.

        • DLC is great

    • +3

      Baffling hearing opinions like this.

One of the best games of the last decade, if not THE best.

        • +5

          Solid neckbeard vibes here, champ.

          • -4

@jjcf: Projection is a hell of a thing, buddy.

            • +2

@whuts: You just referenced Nintendo then immediately followed with a criticism of "Kid's games".

        • +2

"But glad you like it at least."

Full on lie there. After being derogatory towards them, you weak out pretending you aren't a jerk. It is okay someone likes something you don't, no need to be fragile about it.

      • -3

        Best in what specifically?
Because it's not the best open world game out there, it doesn't have the best RPG mechanics, it doesn't have the best combat, it doesn't have the best story, nor does it have engaging side quests or a good game loop.

It's basically an Nvidia tech demo with a bang average game slapped on top.

    • +1

Cyberpunk is a good game and well worth $30. But some aspects have been done better by older games such as Deus Ex and Cyberpunk its still a buggy game after all these years.

      • +1

Yeah, don’t say it was a bad game. Just my opinion it was mid. Agree $30 is fine.

      • +1

As someone who played the game near launch, abandoned it due to the incredible amount of bugs and then returned a few months ago and played it through to the end…………amazing game now. The bugs are largely fixed

The ONLY thing I wish they had was some more side activities like GTA V has

    • FYI guys if you own a Mac they just released cyberpunk for MacOS now so you can finally play it on your M series macs natively i ran it on a M4 mac runs smooth.

      • 1440p with medium to high settings and ray tracking on getting between 40 and 50fps on an imac M4 with 24gb ram nativaly only macos thats pretty good for a mac lol. but yeah if you have it on steam you can just download it just works.

    • Sounds like you have never played it.

  • I like the steam library cause I can keep track of all the games I intend to play. Can you import games from gog into the library? I have one other gog game and forget it exists.

    • +2

You can’t really import into Steam (you can manually add exe but it’s not seamless), but you can go the other way and import Steam/Epic/Ubisoft/Xbox/Ea into GoG Galaxy - however it’s been pretty flaky with the plugins for a while now, so I’d actually recommend “Playnite”. I’ve been using it for a while now and seems to work well without taking up a lot of resources.

      • Thanks. I'll check it out.

    • +1

It's really surprising how few people know of GoG Galaxy, and complain they don't like GoG because it doesn't have a game library manager…

GoG Galaxy is the only one that natively tracks all your games from all the various stores (other stores don't want to acknowledge their competition). For example, I almost bought a game on sale on Steam last week but I habitually checked GoG, which told me I already owned it on Epic Games (it was one of the freebies from ~4 months ago).

It's also quite eye-opening to see how many copies of a game I have across multiple stores!

  • Is G2A OK, seems cheaper?

    • -6

      Steamrip.com is pretty cheap

      • +2

Ommph. Any downsides to using this?

        • +13

The only major company pushing for DRM free games and making some good stuff too gets nothing. Assuming you're an adult with an income either buy it or live without it

        • +2

Any downsides to piracy? Can't tell if you are being serious.

          • @Aureus: From what I've read since, it seems that multiplayer doesn't work with the rips.

        • +11

          A couple things.

That is a steam account with the game on it, not a key you can add to your own account.

Also G2A is a grey market site, you don't know how they got the game into that account, it could easily have been obtained with stolen payment information.

Developers will genuinely prefer if you pirate their game over buying it from gray or black market sites.

    • +9

If it's not a shop on ITAD, assume it's a dodgy keysite.

    • +2

Another option is via GOG with a VPN. Brazil works, and is about $36AUD.

  • +9

I just started the Phantom Liberty DLC for the first time last night and damn it is really really cool

  • +4

Been debating where to play Phantom Liberty with copies on Series X/PS5 Pro. Since no Pro patch is coming been waiting for a nice little price drop on PC. Thanks for the post OP. Also fired up the VPN to Ukraine so ended up getting the Ultimate Edition for just under $31.

    • Pretty sure that's how I got my Ultimate Edition too - and thankfully hasn't affected my GOG account and has been working great.

I actually bought the ultimate edition on Xbox too intending to use cloud saves between the PC and Xbox but the Xbox game kept crashing when loading cloud saves so I refunded it.

  • +1

Phantom Liberty DLC is also 30% off at $31.49 which I think is ATL.

  • +4

For those who may not be aware, Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on Mac (>M1 macs with 16GB RAM; without using external tools). So your GOG, Steam, Epic purchases should work.

    • +1

with all the details turned down unplayable on m2 macbook air

      • one of the lowest powered mac with NO FAN and you wing it can't game?!

        • +1

Just testing it for everyone else so they don't have to waste an hour downloading and installing it if they have an air.

          I game on the pc

          • @kogi: ah OK, good advice. Sorry came off as a mac winge

    • started playing it on my MBP M1 and it's fantastic! I know PC experience is likely to be better but for a casual gamers like myself this is great because more and more AAA titles are coming to Mac nowadays

      • Yeah it's great. And from what I've heard, better graphics with Tahoe (via Metal 4).

  • Games like these is when I miss my Gaming PC. Went full Mac, iPhones, iPads in the family.

    • See above

      • Yea no. Don't want to play at Playstation 4 (Standard / Pro) level on a Mac that cost me thousands. If I wanted that, I would have gotten the PS4 Pro version of the game a long time ago. Maybe when Ryzen 6 Gen 2 comes out, I will go full mental on a $3000 - $3500 gaming PC with an Nvidia RTX 7080 in 2027.

        • +3

          $3000 will probably only get you a RTX 6060 in 2027. 😭

          • +3

@Aureus: Jesooze Krist, you are right, I am so out of PC pricing (Went full Mac / iOS Desktops, Laptops, iPads and iPhones for the whole family 5 years ago). I just Googled the current gen 2025 release RTX 5080 and it's $2000 and over just for the video card. Holy Moly.

    • -1

Why? now your locked into the ecosystem and will be forced to upgrade when they brick the devices after 6/7 years, nor are they upgradable!

I guess you could just buy more though

      • +1

I have 4 women in my family. 3 daughters and my wife. I forced them on Android and Windows Laptop's and I eventually failed when each of my daughters reached 10 years old. They all wanted iPhones and Macbook's.They all migrated to iMacs, Macbooks and iPhones. I ran solo with my Android and Windows desktop for a while. They would constantly complain that they can't send me photos, files, use Facetime, iMSG blah blah blah. That it's a pain to communicate with me as I am on Android, I am like wtf, Android works just fine with iPhones. They hated the green bubble in the messaging app, they hated having to use What's App, just for me. They couldn't just 'flick' files, photo's, videos to me wireless from their Macbook's and iPhones to my Windows PC. After a few years of constant nagging, I reluctantly got myself a Mac and an iPhone. (Happy wife and daughters, happy life). It took me almost 6 months of swearing at the Mac and iPhone trying to use it properly but I finally got used to it. Apple's Eco system traps the best of us. Still miss my Windows PC though.

        • +1

The ultimate story of a Dad's true sacrifice, they'll never know how much you love them until one day they have children of their own, who will refuse to use Apple and only Android/Windows, the cycle of life continues.

          • @deeeno: Maybe….but what I experienced is, to young girls….iPhones, Macbook's are a fashion accessory and not just a phone or computing device. Our male brain cannot compute that way of thinking. They all have 20 different cases for their iPhones each. Like I said, I gave up and relented.

    • -2

Went full Mac, iPhones, iPads in the family.

      Pay more for less!

  • Got this and is there any way to export it to Steam as painless as possible? Wanna play it on the Steam Deck.

    • +1
    • Will it run OK on Steam Deck?

      • It's fine. You probably will have issues with the DLC as it is harder to run.
But you can absolutely play it on the steam deck.

For the parent commenter, GOG version works great through Heroic.

    • Download game files from gog website. Will need to log in and use offline installer option. This allows you to download all game files manually. You can also do this through gog galaxy on windows and then transfer files to your steam deck. Add game manually to steam after that.

I currently use proton cachyos layer to run game through steam on linux (as this has fsr 4 option for my 7900xt). Dont think steam deck will be very different. If you use mods use these arguments: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm, version=n,b" %command% —launcher-skip -modded -skipStartScreen.

Can also do this through heroic launcher. With linux there is always bit of manual tinkering.

  • Is this the type of game where you walk around doing side missions, main missions, and wander around exploring open world ie potentially spending many many hours of playing?

    • Yes, Excatly that

      • Not sure if im ready for that after recently spending 100+ hours completing all quests in horizon lol.. maybe some time in the future.. surely this will get cheaper right..

        • +1

          Yeah it will get cheaper

It's also one of the best games of the decade

  • +1

Excellent game. I just bought it barely 3 months ago on sale. Worth full cost. Lot of wow moments

  • A side note, but if you guys play the game, watch the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime too

I absolutely adored the way they integrated the show and game together.

I loved the way alot of the Edgerunner's music was from the game (or maybe the other way around with the game adding it after) or how you could go to locations in the Night City game world that coincided with scenes from the show…..so damn cool, enhanced my feelings of both.

  • Should update title as this also includes Mac!
