I typically use these to wedge doors open, leave in roofspaces as treats and hand out to the milwaukee boys during Krispy Kris Kringle - am I doing it wrong?
Torx 8 …the new default….not present.
Bought these a few years ago. Possibly these are better but mine were quite soft steel and the flatheads were quite thin. I never use them other than real BFI work.
Yeah I have a set at work, every one of them the tip is twisted on them. Cheap for a reason but a decent set to loan out etc.
Total Tools have a bunch of single VDE screwdrivers on sale atm if anyone is interested. I just bought a similar spec set of TTI today for $30 down from $52. Haven't used them yet but they feel good in hand. Made in Taiwan
Those TTi screwdrivers are way better, anyone wanting to buy these to actually use them, definitely get the TTi one, or other better brands if they happen to be on sale.
These workzone screwdrivers are absolute junk, even at the low price of $13, they are not worth it.
You're not giving any reasons why the TTi ones are better and the workzone ones are junk.
They honestly seem like great value for money
Other people have said about them being too thin and the tips twisting. Cheaper is sometimes worse - I know the Aldi crew don't like hearing their beloved brand sells some below par stuff sometimes.
It's the softness of the tips. I didn't twist mine like others, but the philips started to cam out easily after a couple of uses, and I (profanity) up a couple of screws with them. I also had a set of Craftright tang-through screwdrivers which I also threw out. They were similar quality to the Aldi ones. I really don't think it's worth keeping a set of screwdrivers of this level of quality regardless of the price.
TTi and Kincrome are pretty decent, but they can't be compared to brands like Wera and Vessel in terms of durability and precision. I always go for the highest quality screwdrivers than save a few bucks. People rave about PB Swiss, but I've never had their screwdrivers, maybe some day I will.
EDIT: The Workzone socket sets are okay, at least serviceable. They are soft too and can easily chip, but they are at least usable, not like the screwdrivers. The best quality Workzone stuff I have include the old brushed impact wrench and brushless impact driver. I've used them for quite a few years, and they are still going strong.
I don't have the TTi set, but Workzone set has super soft metal heads. They are suitable only for light use and didn't last long.
They are great value for money, but they're also not great. For your average person you could probably buy this and you're set for the next 20 years. If you use screwdrivers with any regularity you probably want something a bit better.
I have these, they do the job but the tips are soft. That means the tips will wear out with use. Good screwdrivers have very hard tips that maintain their shape even under a lot of force.
One of the strategies is to buy a cheap set, as you put use on a driver and you find it wears out you replace it with something much higher quality since you apparently use it enough to justify the upgrade.
These are pretty good tbh. Surprisingly so.
Yeah I have had mine for 2 years and they are going great imo. Didn't buy them to use everyday, just occasionally when needed
Surprised how good these are.
Would buy again if I needed to.
Perfect chisel set and comes in a decent storage plastic case. Also works as pry tool, blocking open doors, or throwing at the apprentice.
