Most telcos are offering $60 a month for NBN 50 speed tier, but all of them usually limit discounts to 6 months and then the price increases to $80 or more. Kogan NBN looks like its the cheapest, $59.90 (6m, then $78.90/m)

    NBN100 tier usually costs around $80 ~ $90

The price difference between a non discounted NBN 50 Plan and the NBN 100 plan is very small, as that reflects the wholesale price the RSP has to pay for those plans.

Cheaper plan doesn't always mean better value. Currently Moose Mobile for e.g has a NBN 100 plan for $65.80/month for 6 months then $84.80/Month ongoing. Which isn't much more than Kogan's offering, so if what you're after is speed Moose is a better pick.

And if you are on FTTP or HFC then Exetel has an $80/m ongoing plan. It has no signup discount, but there is a $100 Cashback.

I'm paying $75 for 250/100… So less than that for 50.

The difference in wholesale price is only $9.

      • It probably accurately reflects the costs of providing the service.

  • For those on fibre or cable, NBN is basically pricing out NBN50 by making it similar in price to NBN100 which in Sept will be NBN500, so a difference of about $5 per month for 10x the speed.

    • If you don't need the speed, you might prefer the $5… eg. pensioners…

    • $60 a year is a number you can imagine doing something useful with. But the 10x difference in speed might have no perceptible or practical consequence in the home.
If my electricity supply was upgraded from 100 amps to 500 amps I'd never notice.

  • Exetel has 500/20 for 80/m ongoing

  • What about iinet offer? That seems to be the cheapest even after inital offer period

    https://www.iinet.net.au/internet-product/broadband/5g-home-…

$60 per month for 50Mbps and $70 per month for 100Mbps

    • That's 5G by the way and actual speeds can depend on a lot of factors. It's also limited to specific regions where 5G service is available.

Actual speeds may vary due to factors such as the time and place you are using your data, the number of devices connected to the modem and subject to network traffic priority. Please see Speed Guide for more information.

      • Yeah I understand. Thanks
