    Here comes the flash failures!

    Just kidding… 🤭

    • but but, the price is $300 and under!! in AUD too.

Seriously can't see it being worth the risk for the small savings. All it takes is a few cents of savings on capacitors and bye bye data. Sure it might have a warranty, but is it worth the hassle factor?

      • I've been using mine as a game drive. It borks out occasionally when the laptop gets too hot, but so far haven't lost anything.

Worst case I have to reinstall a game though….

Fanxiang S770 = IG5236 + YMTC 128-layer (note: 3rd party packaging, not YMTC OEM). It has onboard cache. Not ramless sticks. Very similar configuration as Zhitai TiPRO7000 (though Zhitai is using proper YMTC packaged NANDs).

I think it is double-sided layout. Be aware if your laptop or enclosure can fit. Most PC motherboard should be fine.

Good price for 4TB. But be aware of compatibility issues and potential stability issues. Seems to be common from my readings on Chinese SNS.

The only review I've found for the 4TB version says that it's using Micron 176 layer flash and hopefully all others are the same. Due to YMTC 128 layer flash having the data corruption issues.

Happy to be corrected if there's other sources saying 4TB has 128l.

      • Unless these are all old batches then you stuck with the 128-layer YMTC and data loss. Seller not responding to any query.

  • I've been using this one for a couple months no issues, S880ER not sure on differences.

    • S880ER seems like newer version of S880 with slightly lower speed tho should be negligible in real life.

    • Who makes the nand on your copy?

No idea, I generally don't look at that stuff. Real world I'll never notice a difference and I don't keep anything important on my PC.

        • People tend to get worried about 'data' loss, aka their pirated movies and offline pr0n.

Dont buy from these clowns .. they ghost you when you want to claim on the warranty

  • I'm not spending another $100 for a Samsung 990. The less my computer works, the less I have to.
