Yeahhhh this late in the cycle with the Pixel 10 series around the corner, I don't think $600 off the outright cost is that great a deal.
The real deal might be then combining that outright price with the $2000 off deal when you switch to the JB $99 plan and do all the Ozbargainer method stuff (cancellation etc).
Outdated and ewaste? You simply don't know what you are talking about
@yummypinacolada: Around 50%, which is not crazy. Got mine for $1700 around release date. Hoping they can drop it lower by mid August so I can do a price protection. But maybe I'm dreaming…
@ShouldIBuyIt: I'm talking about resell value as a used device. Folding phone is always the most expensive, but if you compare their flagship counterpart(S25 ultra or pixel 9 pro) they have much better resell value.
@yummypinacolada: Yeah I guess expensive and a bit of a niche. I barely use the inside screen. Was planning to use for doing some training for commuting but actually can't be bothered on my way to/from work ^^
@OZBUser2022: A drop in price or resell value doesn't mean they instantly become e-waste. Even though the Pixel 10 range is around the corner, these are still current gen phones and will have guaranteed Android updates until at least August 2031 from Google.
@OZBUser2022: If you're chucking out a phone just because a new one has come out and the one you have has 'lost value' then you are the e-waste problem, not the phone…
Was really hoping they would discount these as cheap as the XL. Does anyone know why?
Not sure why but the Pro(non XL) prices on special almost never drop below the Pro XL special prices. its like the Pro XL is cheaper to make or something
Pro is more popular than xl
Not many people liked the xl, it's too big and your don't get any extra features that the pro doesn't have.
Any stats to back this up?
On the iPhone side, Pro Max is usually the top selling SKU, and it is also just a bigger Pro.
@TheContact: No stats, this is ozb, not a science backed forum, we don't do common sense here.
I bought a pro a while ago and read many reviews for both pro and xl models (as the prices where similar) and most reviewers said the xl felt too big for normal cellphone use. Not sure about iPhone, maybe pro max has better features? Or maybe people using iPhones just like showing off their apple phones?
Is this an ATL?
Has been posted on Oz bargain for cheaper last month
Got 9 pro xl for 888 last month.
Different model though. The XL is a big unit so very different use case.
I skipped that deal but will probably go with a 9 Pro because of the size.
You could get P9P for ~$865 at launch
Which retailer?
No. I just checked my price protection claims, it was $50 cheaper than this in June.
I got $84 back on a $1631 purchase price, although wayback machine shows a price $1597 a few days after my claim and a ticket price of $1647.

Surely they will get cheaper as they try to clear them out once the 10's arrive.
Better prices are definitely coming, I'd hold off for now.
HODL!
HOFN
Wish they'd release some better deals on the Pixel 9 Pro. I'm in the market for a new phone after the 6A battery update made my phone unusable.
Get a cheapo Motorola while you wait for a better deal.
Any model recommendations? Might have to if I can't hold out till the Pixel 10 launch.
I'm using a g75 as a burner while holidaying overseas and it's pretty good. But you may have missed out. G85 is a good buy too, although cashreward has dropped now
The drop off since the 6a software update has been crazy, my wife's phone is basically unusable.
Crazy hey? I'm not a heavy user, and I struggle to get through a full day unless I plug it in.
6a are being recalled due to the update FYI
Got a link? I've had nothing from Google
Ah, i thought the next 9 pro would compete with the last xl 9 pro deal.
I got the xl but still has not opened it in case 9 pro price also got halfed
Lets wait
Hold!
Not the best deals
The best deal right now.
Even without comparative deals. On its own merit (assuming we remove the sale label), no these aren't good prices for these.
A 9 Pro at the current RRP of a standard S25 isn't a good price?
@ZuluOz: Yes? Doesn't that prove my point? The CPU and hardware in the base S25 is better than the Pixel 9 Pro (one gen behind).
@marshmall0w2: It's not a big enough difference considering the S25 would be the peer if the Pixel 10 plus The camera setup of the Pro aligns closer to the Ultra than the base.
@ZuluOz: JB Hi-fi Pixel 9 Pro port in, sure, or the wild clearance deals. But not this. For reference, this is the insane clearance deal for even the XL
Still exxy for a model that's gonna be replaced soon. I got the pixel 9 pro fold 512 at launch at JB for under 2k for "trade in bonuses" iykyk
I'd just like to note, if you have any issue with the phone their repair centre is in Hong Kong (no option to repair here). The process is a nightmare. I won't be buying another pixel once my 7 dies
Its been a while since I have to deal with Pixel warranty, but isn't usually Google usually just send you a refurbished device if yours is faulty? You have to send back your faulty device ofc
Dunno but Scamsung does this with the Care+ at least.
Isn't that a subscription model though? Charging outright seems ridiculous for something that is a requirement under consumer law.
1st time using their warranty process atm. They were asking for an authorisation of $1699 for a used P7P, to send the replacement out first. I have also read online that they will come up with any excuse not to warrant claims (It worries me, even though I have take very good care of my device), so I don't want to get caught up in some BS. The customer is still required to send their phone to HK as there is no Australian care centre.
Pixel 7 pro user here, they just sent me a replacement as soon as I sent my phone away.
Didn't have to wait mine to arrive in Hong Kong.
Did you do the credit card preauthorisation?
Usually they do the full amount preauth (advanced exchange) if you want the replacement first. Protects them from risk of you not sending in the old one. They release the auth hold on receiving the old one. The RMA process is a nightmare with the customs paperwork and booking courier via global express. Buyer beware.
$1249 on the Google Store - https://store.google.com/au/product/pixel_9_pro?hl=en-GB
They seem to not have the $300 trade in credit for the 7a that they had a month ago. It's back to the usual $100 now.
It seems like the pro is much more sought after than the XL. I wonder if we will see it drop to under $1000 again…
A disappointing discount for the Non-XL
At these prices you might as well hold out for the P10P in my opinion, I wouldn't say this is a bargain.
Hopefully soon 9 pro deals come through as half price or something.
