As it was in history and so shall it be, it was always women at the forefront of ending the Prohibition and starting the Sexual Revolution. Whether it was the covert undermining of authority for booze or the ostentatious undermining of authority by flashing boons (now an art cultural phenomenon), women truly are at the forefront of every endeavour.

Indeed we have women like Savvy and Ana Valens who although she triggered as many people on the right as much as she caused mayhem for the leftist Vice throughout, still got rekt and was let go by them on a singular issue by stepping on the wrong toe and proving the age-old adage of "to know who controls you, learn whom you can't criticise. It is now back to Heretic vs Authority factions.

      Essentially, Collective Shout wants "adult" games banned. VISA and MasterCard and PayPal used Collective Shout as a front to do their own content censorship based on "third party" connectors (essentially organisations or companies that allow or disallow integration with these payment processors).

      As you can imagine, anything can be defined as "adult." Not just gooner games. Games like Last of Us, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Baldur's Gate, Uncharted, and even Pokemon can be treated as "adult" games because Collective Shout defines it as anything that depicts children or women in harmful situations.

      As you can further imagine, nothing stops another organisation like Collective Shout, from having their own morality, dictate what content can or cannot be on the internet. But the fact that payment processors can outright end integrations with companies like Steam is a dangerous game.

      Steam already removes illegal material. So anything beyond is indeed payment processors playing the judge, jury, and executioner.

      Hypocritically, Collective Shout has praised Cuties and does not go after big Hollywood movies depicting children or women in harmful situations.

      The point is that it is up to the "ruling elite" to determine when the rules are applied because it is wildly inconsistent. They don't care about nuance unless it's their buddies.

      This is not good.

      The phrase sums it best: "They treat fiction as real, and the real as fiction."

        Just a bit of caution - I suspect you and I are probably on very different sides of the "political" spectrum, if it even exists anymore.
        I agree with much of what you've said, and explored some of the issues in the thread on movie censorship
        The only thing is it's not the "ruling elite" in the sense of what we might understand as being well-financed, governing people with well-honed connections.
        Collective Soul are, in essence, an alliance between evangelical/fundamentalist Christians and TERFs/SWERFs - so perhaps where you and I might find agreement is that these are people who have no hesitation in trying to get people excluded, in having their religious beliefs and gender beliefs played out as being victims, despite stats and facts, and influencing public debate.
        So… in the old sense, they're not elite - in the new sense, they're using their positions and their social media connections and their "think tanks" to influence both the debate and the outcomes. But this has all the hallmarks of an imported far right campaign, masked with the headline of "think of the children/women".

      Had to respond to this. This is neither Left nor Right.

      For one, you have Keir Starmer and Labour will all their censorship with the Online Safety Act and other Ofcom bullshit. Big doubt you'd consider them Right. Also with EU mass censorship of X, Meta, Google Search, and so on. Highly doubt those are also "rightwing."

      Second, in the US, I don't see much censorship that's not due to a spillover of the under-16 YouTube ban by Australia. And this is going to be fought in the US courts. And I highly doubt Australia currently is "rightwing."

      Third, what about the mass censorship during Biden's administration over the pandemic and over the dubious multi-billion CHIPS act and Ukraine war and Gaza invasion with almost zero information. Now, everything although not fully transparent, is more laid bare. And what about the 20 million immigration figure out of nowhere and the insertion into various states forcefully with government officials being offed legally for talking about it like even NY's Mayor Adams (wow just like UK, Germany, and France). Big doubt Biden's admin is also "rightwing."

      Fourth, if you're saying it's because Collective Shout is a "rightwing" Christian fundamenlist group, then I'm perplexed as how you can't see the obvious reality in life that you can have multiple alignments in some beliefs but not in others.

    This censorship is annoying, but the reality is that as long as chokepoints exist gatekeepers will take up residence on them. The answer to that isn't to ask someone that derives money and power from their gatekeeping to act appropriately, the answer is to figure out how to route around them entirely. That's difficult when it's payment, but difficult and impossible are not synonyms.

    I don't really care whether these get banned or not honestly as long as there is strict filtering of content that is available to the user.
    Steam does this well. I just hide those contents, I don't want them visible in my store feed.
    I already made my point on some more traumatizing themes which I do feel deserves being removed. As they are just sadistic processes which should not be normalized in video games. But if someone wants to play a fap simulator that's fine just give people the option to hide the content.

      What about horror games? Mouthwashing is traumatic, that was banned on itch.io but not steam.

      What about letting people pre-order content on OF, from minors before they are 18? Why is that allowed, but fictional content isn't.

        As mentioned steam does this well.
        I'm just saying if they don't get banned maybe they should be promoting processes like steams filtering of products. As I think it's executed perfectly

      Well, Collective Shout is an australian campaign group, so unless this is nipped in the bud, expect the start of a wave of censoreship starting with games, then leaking over to other forms of media. They've already bullied visa and mastercard into submission, and despite their official response saying that as long as the product / service is legal, they won't interfere with the market - already proven a lie.

    They wan't to ban things yet they will enjoy other media that has the same content.

    I'm sure they like Game of Thrones, which has non consent stuff, abuse, sibling stuff, etc.

    Why are they allowing stores like JB Hi Fi to sell those box sets?

    Why do they take payment for foxtell which hosts those episodes etc.

    Either you process all payments and don't act like a government, or leave the business if you don't like processing payments.
