Lorex E841CA 4K Wired IP Security Camera $49 + Del ($0 with $65 Metro Order/ OnePass/ C&C/ Instore) @ Officeworks (Excl TAS, NT)

100

Found this cheapy on the Officeworks Website. This is a Wired POE 4K security camera, can either be powered by your POE Switch/Router or via a 12v power supply (not included). It's compatible with the Lorex NVR's, but you can not use this standalone with the Lorex App. It also has a standalone web interface and does take an SD card. The video stream can be accessed via RTSP which might be good for people using Home Assistant or other compatible systems (possibly compatible with ubiquiti as well?) There's mounting hardware and a 30 metre Ethernet cable in the box.

    4K(8MP)@15fps, 5MP@30fps,
    1080p@30fps, 720p@30fps

    Appears to support Onvif

Not sure I'd bother given the 15fps?

    • I should add that I bought one but didn't realise that it can't be used standalone with an app (thankyou Officeworks Return Policy). It seems to do the job and if you've got an existing system or you're the tinkering kind that wants to use it with Home Assistant or some other platform then this might be worthwhile. I've been looking around at various cameras and it seems 15fps for 4K Security cameras is reasonably common at the moment, quite a few of the reolink ones are the same.

There are other models also on special as well.

It can be used standalone with an app. Try tinycam on android

        • Do you mean over the Internet?

          • @UncommonName: Yeah or local network too

            • @edrift: The camera would be connected to Internet via WiFi, but how would the tinycam app know about it's IP address or other URL to locate it and connect to it?

              • @UncommonName: On your local network set static IP for your cameras either via the camera settings or your router.
Use those to setup camera in tinycam. Leave tinycam running on a spare phone or tablet at home, acting as a software NVR.

Connect your phone to that tablet via a static ip

Why do you need more than 15fps for a security camera? Fast thieves?
I think you will find most security systems have operated at 15fps or less until recently.

  • My name is Lorex and I spot all the thieves

Keep an eye out for the Once-ler!

  • Just ordered two to pickup as theres no more stock near me. Are these good or is there a better budget camera setup? (looking to integrate into my unifi)

  • possibly compatible with ubiquiti as well

Highly unlikely. Ubiquiti is a closed ecosystem. Maybe there’s some hacks you can do with Home Assistant, but I wouldn’t buy this thinking it will work with a Unifi NVR.

    • UNVR has ONVIF support. You'll just get recording and no fancy features like motion detection.
