When can lawn mower robot at this price range. Im getting older.

    • +1
      • Is there one that collects the clippings?

        • I don't think so. The idea is they go out multiple times per week and chop 2-3mm of the grass, which then falls and creates mulch. This compared to regular mowing where you go out weekly and take 10-15mm off which didn't break down by the next week.

        • +1

You must be yakking about the Yukka.
          https://mammotion.com/pages/yuka

    • Still have to monitor those, otherwise they just get stolen

      • Really? I didn't realise it's a thing, especially in a yard that's surrounded by fence….

        • but theres also front yard….

    • +6

my theory is that lawn mowing is not a popular problem in China, so that explains why here we are, 2025, and the options are either dumb or super expensive - and the price never drops

      • They have parks where it gets mowed by others, instead of cramming everything into the one single story house.

      • Same logic for pool robots I guess

      • I think there has been some tech hurdles. Now we are at the RTK stage where you can in theory get few cm resolution with GPS. But it depends on access to clear sky etc. But the tech doesn't come cheap; yet. soon though….

China doesn't try to solve it's own problems. It definitely thinks outside of the box and comes up with all sorts of innovation. Best one for me has been a soldering iron with built in accelerometer. If I forget to move it, it switches off!

    • Just get a sheep just like google

    • Robomow was around $500 in 2004 when I bought mine - https://www.robomow.com/about-us/history

But it is disappointing how little they have progressed until the last year or so.

      https://www.robomow.com/about-us/history

  • Can you clean the cracks or corner in the wooden floor?

    • it won't clean the edges and corners

      • There is a setting you can turn on and clean edges. It takes ages tho.

  • I'm looking to get one, is this the right model to go for?

    • +3

This is a good robot for the money, you'd be hard pressed to find better value I would think. Dreame is a Xiaomi brand, as is Roborock, so they share much of the same parts. And both brands are considered quite highly

      • I second this, very happy with ours a few months in.
Can't speak for long term but so far battery life is good, cleaning is good, app is ok and doesn't get stuck very often.

      • +1

Look at the Lubluelu as well, just make sure it has full Lidar navigation (around $200). Ours hasn't missed a beat.

      • Dreame and Roborock are not Xioami brands. They are independent brands that started under a Xioami initiative, which placed them within the Xioami ecosystem. Xioami were initial funders in the brand.

They are both fully independent brands now with no affiliation with Xioami as a brand.

  • +4

Dreame is good until it works and once it stops working, the support is really non existent and they will ghost you. If you buy one, expect good cleaning but don't expect anything when things go wrong!

    • +2

Same experience here. I bought it a month ago during amazon prime sale, and the side brush developed an issue on only the second clean. The only way to contact them was via chat, and after a long wait, they refused to offer any solution. They claimed it was “wear and tear” and told me to purchase a replacement.

    • +1

The only good this parts are readily available from aliexpres if you are able to maintain yourself

      • +2

Well in my case the mop stopped dispensing water so there is no solution available in AliExpress.

speaking from experience, you will get your money back if anything went wrong

    • +2

The same thing applies to Ecovacs. I have N8 and all its motors started breaking after a year. I ended up replacing all of them.

    • +2

I have a amilar experience with Roborock.
They actually have been refusing ACL rights and reckoned “This is consistent with industry practices to balance service quality and operational viability” – basically designed to die right after a year’s service.

I have this, it's been pretty solid as both a vacuum and mop on our vinyl plank flooring. It's relatively very low maintenance too which is great.

The only negative is the battery doesn't last long. I like to do a dedicated vacuum cycle before a 2nd cycle of both vacuum and mopping and it takes like 3 charges to do our 4bdr house. Close to about 8 hours. But we just have to keep our floors clear so it can do its thing.

For $599 I'd buy it again, but would probably consider other options for what I paid originally (I think around $800 mark).

    • +1

What would you buy around the $800 mark and is it a lot better than this one

      • +1

I'm not sure what the current market is like but the roborock ones posted on OzB recently around the $800-$1k mark seemed highly rated, at least by way of the comments.

  • Hey bargainers, I'm new to robot vaccuums but always really interested - I have a 2b2 unit and a cat that sheds quite a bit, would this machine be appropriate for daily operations? This to me looks like a good entry model but i see deals for roborock and euerka too and there reviews are great. Just having a hard time making a decsion on one. Any pointers?

    • +10

Hair management isn't great with this robot, it will get stuck on the roller edges, if it is long, short should be ok. There is however a new type roller that will fit this model that will cut the hair to not tangle it

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007953453897.html?spm=a2…

This robot is better for people with the majority of their house has hard floors, the mopping function is excellent, the battery life is average

Edit - the robot will go back and recharge before leaving again to continue the clean - it will take its time however

      • This really helpful information, thank you mate.

    • with carpet - nope not even with any of the most recent models
without carpet - you'll be fine but may need more frequent maintenance

  • Our house is fully tiled
Just wondering what it is like for it

We've never owned a robot cleaner before

    • +2

Tiled is the perfect environment for these robo vacs. It cleans effortless just as long as you don't have too much loose cables/clutter laying around that could get it stuck.

    • +1

Now is the time for one. You won't regret.

    • Tiles? EZ.

    • This is a good option, it will clean and dry its mops it self, will add its own detergent, mops spin for good quality mopping

    • this was my first robo vac, got it in 2023. Recently sold it for an upgrade. Its decent for the price but the suction power is a bit low compared to many newer models. Plus the mop pads dont swivel mechnically to reach edges. However there is a setting in the app to rotate the robot body like every 20cm so the mop pad does, but it takes forever. For comparison, the same 52m^2 of my tiled ground floor, the L10s ultra took 131min runtime but this does not account for the recharge time in the middle, which would probs add an extra 1.5 - 2hrs. The new roborock qrevo edge C took 42min with no recharge with the swivel mop.

  • Any recommendation for the current top tier models?

    • Edge

  • I just got mine, got it working last night but doesn't seem to work when its dark.
It started doing its thing at 8am today but when I got to work, i got a notification that the mop got disconnected at 8:30am (its magnetic so not sure how that happened) and it stopped cleaning until it gets connected again so I guess I won't have a clean floor when I get home today..

    • Check DND function.

  • +1

Plz get it down further, might stop waiting for edge and just get this

  • I got this one it is so good compare to my 2 year old one; loving this and can't go back I don't there is a better one under $800

  • Thanks OP. Time to upgrade my Deebot N8

  • +1

Does anyone know of alternative cleaning solution to refill this with? My partner is very finicky with chemicals around the baby, so looking for a more eco-friendly detergent to add - or maybe can just use it with water?

  • Is this good with high pile carpet? My deebot gets stuck

  • I placed an order in the recent roborock deal but it still hasn’t been delivered (“it may be lost” says the Amazon tracker). I have the option of a refund and get something like this instead but think I would prefer the roborock, if they manage to deliver it.

    • +1

They ran out of stock and are fulfilling back orders.. is my guess.

If you need mopping this one is much better for that but if you just wanted a vaccume the roborock is doing the same job for $399.

I got two of those roborock Q8's from that deal i posted for myself and my brother and they are working well.

    • +2

Ordered this robot and received in a couple of days - the tracking was a couple of weeks however

  • i've had it for a few months - no complaints except the mop started to smell after a while - can't seem to get rid of it. anyone had similar issues?

    • +1

maybe try replace the mop head.. Parts are sold on amazon. OR maybe give it a clean… most mop heads can be washed / dried and re-used.

The smell would the mop head not being 100% dry and becoming a breading ground for mold or or bacteria

    • +1

The manual has maintenance guide, maybe check that out to see if you are missing doing something

    • +1

I got a bunch on Aliex and cycle them through the washing machine, i usually swap it after a mop or halfway through the floors.

    • thanks will give it a go

  • I got x50 ultra, it's amazing

  • +1

I bought a cordless vacuum in the past and it was good until the battery dies and not charging. so end up it lasted 7 months, going back to them they don't care and ask you to buy replacement battery which is half the price of the whole unit. So just expect there is no warranty and depends you luck.

  • I paid well over $1000 for one of these a couple of years ago. When did these get so cheap!?

  • Supported by Valetudo! I use it with a Roborock S5 Max and it's great. Tempted to upgrade though.

    https://valetudo.cloud/pages/general/supported-robots.html#d…

  • For the same price is Roborock Q7t+ worth it or not ? https://www.amazon.com.au/roborock-Q7T-Anti-Tangle-Hands-Fre…

    • +1

No.. Q8+ was and still pops up at $399 a few times per week

    • +2

Sadly Roborock has been refusing ACL rights and reckoned “This is consistent with industry practices to balance service quality and operational viability” – basically designed to die right after a year’s service.

      Look at my post here

      • 12 months warranty on these things is about right :) i paid $260 for my Q7 if it dies in 12 months i'm fine with it… my Q8 for $399 i would like at least 2 years from it but fine if that dies too. .. sux for those buying $1000+ robots that stop after 12 months though.

I was going to grab the gen 2 for $900 but saw that the L20 ultra had a discount code of 50% off ($1000) at checkout so I ordered that instead.

Then I searched google one more time and found out that Dreame was also selling it for $1000 on eBay but takes a further $150 off with the coupon code DAD15. 😅

Canceled my Amazon order and went with the L20 Ultra for $850 from eBay. Now I’m praying I get a good unit so I don’t have to deal with their supposedly difficult support.

  • +1

I have this product. Had it for around one year. Does a great job. Set the map on your phone and create diff maps for upstairs and downstaris.
Before I bought it, read reviews that the water container didn't hold a lot (btchng and moaning).. I haven't had an issue. For the price I like it. Will be considering buying one for the parents.

  • I have the L10s Pro Ultra and it has been great. Would recommend.

Has anyone changed to the tricut brush? Any disadvantages and would you recommend it?

    • Just got one. So far so good

      • What's the review on the tricut? Missus has VERY long hair which I always have to cut off rollers.

        • Yeah it has been awesome so far, my misses is the same and its working very well

  • +1

Mine just arrived. Eta was Thursday

  • +1

Mine arrived yesterday. Pretty impressed so far

    • Same, wife loves it

  • Any difference between this and Eureka J12 Ultra? https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0CZRDX453?smid=A3PHTR5…

  • I have a Golden Retriever who sheds 2 times a year, for 6 months at a time.
Will this vac do well with the hair? I pre-sweep before running our current old robo-vac.. sometimes
