Depending on which state you are in it's a saving of up to $3,330 (WA residents saving the most).

The BYD Shark 6 is a plug-in hybrid dual-cab ute launched in late 2024. It pairs a 1.5L turbo engine with dual electric motors for 321kW and 650Nm, hitting 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds. Offering up to 100km electric range and 800km total, it suits tradies and fleets wanting a tech-rich, efficient alternative to diesel utes.

        This isn't an ATTO3, the 23% figure only relates to that particular car, not the brand. Your post is misleading rubbish.

        The BYD Shark isn't even an EV, it's a PHEV.

            @Dr Phil: NEDC is the most "optimistic" / unrealistic cycle, for 100km NEDC I'd expect about 70km real-world range.

            @Dr Phil: Every manufacturer uses NEDC for PHEVs and produce very similar outcomes. None achieve it. Just like almost no one gets any claimed economy figures no matter the platform.

            Keep dramatising the situation though, seems to be your MO.

            @Dr Phil: BYD's brochure for the Shark has this clear disclaimer:

            "Electric range, CO2 emissions, energy consumption and fuel consumption figures are based on ADR 81/02 test results. While they are useful in comparing the consumption of different vehicles, the results may not reflect real-world."

            This type of disclaimer, using similar phrases, can be found in every manufacturer's documentation going back more than 20 years for every type of vehicle.

            This whole thing "issue" is just a storm in a teacup - everyone already knows and understands why the discrepancy exists, and the confected outrage is pretty pathetic.

    Much worse than last months $4000 cashback deal.
    I picked mine up for $60,994 for the Blue drive away in TAS. $4000 cashback hit my account today, so $56,994.

    Current offer is significantly worse. Great car so far though, I never even wanted or was considering a Ute, purchased this one as a city SUV with a Tub for my dog to ride in pretty much, and get to play with all the EV tech, don't need to worry about range when driving 600kms+ and can drive around town for free from my Solar.

    Order Details from the web site as of today (For the same Blue colour) $3,082 price increase from last month.

    I am currently going through magistrates court cause I bought one of the early Atto 3s and it's had 7 tows in the last year due to all sorts of power failures and they are trying to claim a rear tyre sensor is responsible for this…4 months already of no car. Won't ever buy BYD again.

      BYD customer service horror stories are something else. Seems like they have expanded too fast and if something goes wrong you are screwed. Sorry about your troubles. Hopefully you get a resolution

          Now that BYD are in control, you’ll go on a watch list if you kick up a stink about an issue.

      • Depends on the store I think. Brooklyn stuffed me around initially with a delayed collection, then much more significantly later re: failed OTA updates. Took it to Port Melbourne and they fixed it without any dramas.

      • 7 tows, 4 months of no car… I would say the resolution should be another car or money back.

      4 months without a car and being towed in 7 times in a year… This constitutes a "major failure" and "unreasonable time to repair" under ACL… Speak to a lawyer and start seeking a refund under your ACL rights.

        Name as many BYD staff that you have interacted to be part of your claim. When they realise you are not messing around are going to drag all their butts into court they will want to avoid that at all costs and agree to pay you back.

        • I used AI and copied all their terms and conditions l, warranty, ACCC etc etc. it's already been through dmeris and now with another legal company. Even sent them an email and copied media in

        I wouldn't be concerned now. I heard there were a lot of issues related to the 12V battery which have been resolved now. I have a 2025 Atto 3 and it's been great, no issues at all

        The dealership has been very slow for a lot of things like even getting my floor mats, but seems to be better lately

          Atleast for me, the ATTO was cool when it came out. Now with all the other options, it doesnt hold that attraction any longer.

          But glad that you have the latest model and are loving it.

            @axlfan: I reckon the Atto is still a great option for the price and size of it. I didn't want anything bigger, plus couldn't justify the $20k extra cost of the sealion 7

            I think we have to just be happy with what we have when we have it. Though I'll be honest I did wait until the 2025 model once I saw they changed the logo from 'Build Your Dreams' to BYD on the rear of the car

            IMO that's a very immature attitude. The nature of progress means there's always something newer and slightly better around the corner, especially when emerging technologies are concerned. But that does not mean that the item you just purchased is less useful or a less valid choice. Having to own the latest and greatest version of whatever is toxic consumerism at it's worst.

                Strongly disagree.

                Over 10 years I would agree that there have been significant developments in EV-related technology, which have improved the range, increased reliability and lowered the cost of entry to the market. However, in the day to day those improvements have never been so dramatic that an EV purchase might have been a poor decision.

                So that would necessitate putting some thought into what you buy and if something better is just around the corner.

                Similarly, I can't think of a single impending change in the EV market that would make buying an EV right now a bad decision. There are certainly much-hyped technologies like solid-state batteries that might arrive some day, but there's no reason to believe they will change the game in any spectacular way. And the car that you buy today will still be capable of the same things next week regardless of whatever new arrives on the market, so its utility cannot be affected by new technologies.

                The oversaturated Tesla used car market is a good indicator of this.

                I see zero evidence that such a saturation even exists.

    They added $550 dealer delivery fee from August 1 at the same time they removed the $4k cash back. Then came the August incentive of $1011 (in qld) so price has effectively gone up $3.5k. Who knows what incentives if any for next quarter?

      There are plenty of tradies very rarely or never need to tow anything.

      And there are even more people who buy dual cab utes for tax reasons rather than a need for towing or 4wd capability, and want something that drives more like a normal car.

        If everyone drove a Yaris, I would have bought him a used micro car. Unfortunately, where I live, 90% of the vehicles are giant SUV's and Utes and with drivers almost always having 1 eye on their mobile phone whiilst driving.

          The battery has an 8 year/160,000km warranty from the factory. In reality, LFP batteries should be good for 500,000km.

          The "hurr-durr EV batteries fail" crowd are clueless.

          • @klaw81: Tesla guys told me their battery can go over a million km. Not sure of the efficiency by then but still works should.

              @bcYield: The 1 million mile Tesla had 4 drivetrain (motor and single speed transmission) changes and 3 battery replacements. I would say the drivetrain is more wobbly than the battery in a Tesla.

                @Dollar Dreamer: The million mile Tesla is an early Model S - that's 2 generations of battery tech ago.

                Also, 1 million miles = 1.6 million kms, which is an average of 500,000km per battery and 400,000km per drive unit. That's pretty damn good by any reasonable standard - especially when that particular motor has a known design fault that causes premature failure, albeit one that's easily and cheaply prevented now that the issue is well understood.
