    • +1

      That's for the 32gb version

  • +4

42 clicks but no comments or + ?! How are those of us who are less tech-savvy supposed to know if we should buy it or not?
    c'mon guys! :)

Edit: I should hv refreshed page.

    • +11

If you want a 7" tablet and can spend the money this is the one to buy, unless you buy the 32GB version.

        • +9

you complain about not knowing whether you should buy it even though your not interested either way?

        • -1

I don't need a tablet, but how many of us have bought stuff we didn't need, just because other people on this website thought it was a good deal? Also, I used the plural pronoun "us", didn't I? I was asking on behalf of other ozbargainers. I got at least 3 +,and mathew42 got 9 +, meaning that at least 12 other people wanted to know what you guys thought of this deal.

          Edit: I wasn't complaining.who ends a complaint with a ":)" ?

      • +1

And you have been a member since August 2011! So what?

      • +1

Have been busy for the last couple of years …met the man of my dreams, planned the wedding, married someone else, got divorced, got kids..got a dog..got a job ,quit job, got another one….well you get the picture:) obviously, lots of catching up to do.So where should I begin?;)

        • +7

Get a man, get a job, lose a job, get a dog, lose the man, get a job

        • +2

Is that your new year's resolutions? 2013's going to be a busy year for you.We won't be seeing u much on ozbargain then :b

        • +1

In that order? (Got divorced than got kids?)

        • +2

Falling pregnant is the reason I filed for divorce…but that's another story…I'll save it for Dr. Phil.

        • +1

get a bargain, get a bargain, get a bargain, get a bargain, get a bargain, get a bargain, get a bargain..

        • I don't care about the tablet, but this soap opera is intruiging.

      • +12

^^ This, is a troll. The idea of the nexus 7 is for it to be more portable. My iPad Mini will not fit in my pocket, but my nexus 7 will.

        • I confirm Nexus 7 fits in my pocket… I saw a mini after I bought my nexus, I LOLed a little.

        • +1

I just wasted 2 of my negs on you, 4 days later!

      • +1

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeese AFB, check the share price of Apple.
Another 10 years and nobody will remember then, And where will you Apple Fan Boy be then ?

      • Apple make garbage that brianless people buy!

    • If you care about external storage more than GPS, you could also consider the Ainol Venus for $139 plus shipping. Also, the 7 inch tablets are good if you want to be able to fit them easily into a smallish handbag or pocket, but the 10 inch tablets are usually nicer to use.

  • I wish MLN had a store in NSW :P

    • +1

I picked this up from bing lee for $238 before christmas. So can try your luck there if you are after one.

  • +2

Got this one for Xmas. Really well made, very responsive interface.
My only reservation is no SD slot for expansion.

    • it would be nice to have an SD card so I can play movies on it while on road trips for the kids but it's not the end of the world I don't really need more than 8GB my iPad is fine with 8GB.

  • +2

Brilliant tab….this has pretty much converted me fully from ios to android. Much more fun to use than an iPad. Only downside I can think of is that it can be difficult to read the text on some websites (due to 7" screen) but apart from that, this is an excellent price.

  • +4

Wow, time to buy a second one! I sold my ipad and bought this and a samsung 10.1… dont even use the 10.1, the nexus 7 is so awesome! and such a better size.

preordered mine from Google and it cost me $319 delivered, so this is definetly a good buy!

  • +1

I wonder if officeworks have any stock for price matching ?

    • A clearance item only - in Brisbane there's 'limited stock' for $249 at Woolloongabba, Underwood and Browns Plains.

  • +1

Stores only in VIC. $19 Delivery fee.

  • +1

I want a Google Nexus 10…The Nexus 7, although very "portable" will have me squinting at webpages with 7 inches..But seems the online stores in Australia are marking up the Nexus 10 $399 price tag by around $100 - a bit of a rip off.

Oh well, just have to sit tight and wait for the Nexus 10 to drop in price and eventually, the Nexus 4 to become available (to replace my Galacy Ace ancient piece of junk. It also has a $100-$150 mark-up by resellers at the moment).

  • Why are there no local pick up option? I live just ten minutes away from them and i have no time to drop in this week.

    • +3

No time to drop in, but you want local pickup? I'm not feelin ya bro……

      • +1

I mean buy it online this week, then pick it up next week when i am free. Just wanted to save a bit on shipping costs.

  • +3

I kinda want one of these to compliment my asus transformer…. They seem little enough to fit in my pocket yet be awesome at the same time!

    • +1

lol … you might get some odd looks with it in your pocket :)

      • +3

Is that a tablet in your pocket or are you ju- oh wait no its a tablet..

    • +1
      • I'm assuming that it doesn't actually function as a phone, just a tablet with VoIP? I read the article and it never really made sense to me. I had a look on Mobicity and it says that it is not Telstra/Optus supported however it is compatible with all bands I'm pretty sure that means it doesn't use mobile network for voice but can for data… What a bummer… I would totally get this if it did I just don't get a strong enough signal not too and unfortunately us Aussies don't get google talk or anything that awesome.

  • got mine from mobileciti for 225 before xmas
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87288
    extremely happy with it

  • $19 shipping is putting me off. I'm on the edge, I wanna jump but I can't quite justify a tablet yet

    • ask someone who has 2 tablets to talk you into it….. xP

  • +4

If you're unsure about this tablet - don't be :-)

I've had mine about 3 months now (paid $319!), and have been nothing but happy with it. I found the 7" form to be very practical - easy to hold in one hand, drop into a pocket, etc. Decent enough resolution (more than iPad mini), nice gutsy cpu/gpu.

This was my first tablet, and it rocks. It's taken over about 80% of what I used my iphone and laptop for. My sister bought one to exclusively replace an aging laptop (and loves it).

Can't recommend them enough (and this price is a steal!).

    • +4

I'm not unsure about this tablet, I'm fairly sure it's the one I want.. I just can't justify it.

  • +1

Pickup only is handy in a 2,000 kilometre wide country ;)

    • There is no only

    • you might wanna check those measurements again…

  • Hi Guys,

how does it compare to samsung 7.0 tab 2?

    • +2

      http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Google-Nexus-7,Sams…

      Nexus 7:
      +Much more powerful CPU
      +Much more powerful GPU
      +Higher Resolution Display
      +Longer Battery Life
      +Latest Android Updates
      +NFC

      Galaxy Tab 2 7.0:
      +microSD Card Slot
      +Rear Camera

    • Well, trust me. You wouldn't want a samsung tab 2. The UI is really laggy. I tried both of them before and nexus 7 is really fluid. This is probably because one is running ICS the other jellybeans. Also faster processor.

  • HELP!!!
*do you still get $25 google play credit with this? (saw it mentioned on a Bing Lee video so it must be true?)

*given that it only has a front facing camera will I be able to use barcode scanning in apps properly? (silly question I think?)

    • +1

As far as I'm aware, the $25 credit ended a while ago.

Not sure about your other question, but I think it should work.

      • thanks vandlin
I couldn't find any other evidence of the $25 credit

        • ended in september i think

    • Question 1: It definitely ended a while ago

Question 2: I just tried it with the app 'Barcode Scanner' and while the camera worked just fine, the barcode refused to scan (held up a box of tissues to it for 10 minutes). I had much, much more success with Google Goggles, though.

To say that it was an awkward exercise would be an understatement.

I bought a Nexus 7 32Gb 3G on valuebasket.com.au with free delivery for 296$. I intended to post the deal on here but because that's the first day I became Ozbargain member I can not start posting. The next days, that price has been going up and now it's 329$.

    • I have the 7 wifi, and want the 7 3G, anywhere for less then 300$ ?

    • it's $392 atm :| if it was $296, I'd buy it without any doubt

  • +1

Hey OP, the MLN site says "Ends Midnight (EST) Wednesday 30/01/13". You might want to update your post with that.

    That's a great price.

  • dare i ask for price matching for ppl outside of VIC?

$19 delivery fee + $5 credit card fee doesnt seem necessary if it can priced match in stores

it's a bummer, i wouldn't go through the hassle without those extra fees

nevertheless it's still a great deal

  • +1

Gota love the nexus 7, way better than the ipad in every way, especially it's size!

    • Think u need to compare with ipad mini… Though me not an apple fan

  • Using a nexus 7 right now. Extremely happy with it.

  • I see a price match coming up from OW ($249)… nice find OP

    • provided they have stock of it.

    • so can we pricematch with O/W + extra 5% off or not? will bring down to $218.45 ?

  • went to Elizabeth st store in Melbourne, although it says "in stock" on their website, they said its out of stock :-( may be they are hiding them and waiting for the price drop on their website. Not happy.

    • I was just thinking about going to Elizabeth st store to do price match. Will have to rule out that store and try to get it from other stores in cbd. Thanks for the info tho.

  • +1

have called all the CBD stores, no one has stock, trying to save your time :-) I'll probably go to MLN during lunch time.

  • Went to the peel st store and bought one, thanks!

  • Went to the peel st store and bought one, thanks!

  • +1

great tablet. just a note: if you intend on reading magazines, i would get a 10". The 7" is just not big enough..

  • Called all OW in sydney No stock for the 16GB only display unit

  • OW S.A. have no stock of the 16G model sadly either…
(Toshiba AT270 seems to be off the radar too)

  • Does anyone know where I can get a super protective case for someone who is going to be throwing this at walls, etc when angry?

  • Went to the West Melbourne store and bought one, thanks!

  • Got this price matched in JB. Thanks OP

  • Nexus has:
    No HDMI
    No slot for memory card

    Thats a FAIL for me

  • Have bought mine from JB earlier. Great tablet for daily uses!

  • Got OW price match eglobal and bought the 32 gb for $265
