        • +7

            @tkboi: Most ppl think it's $60 flight.
Well that's what I thought as well when I click it.

Read it as $60 for a return flight and got excited. -_-

60 bucks off!? Finally I can afford a business class ticket

  • -6

… I'm genuinely surprised this has that many upvotes

    this isn't really a bargain…?

    • -3

      How so?

      • -1

considering a round trip from Perth to Singapore is approximately $1k'
(i went with the closest city, other cities could possibly be more)

taking $60 AUD equates to a 4% discount.

    • +10

You serious? I’ve seen 20c cashback deals with more upvotes.. $60 off is $60 more in your pocket with no effort if you were going to book the flights anyway but obviously not going to make anyone decide to go to singapore.

      • +1

Bad logic. To ascertain whether it's a bargain or not you have to compare the discounted price with competitors prices. Cheapest RT SingAir flight SYD-SIN is $801; cheapest RT Scoot flight is $463.

Have you ever tried either airlines?! Not everyone is cheap mate. Some of us would choose Singapore Airlines.

    • +1

in this age, anything that's a discount on exorbitantly priced air tickets is a bargain.

…and this is how you make $2.8 billion net profit fy24/25

By being an airline providing an excellent product as an airline?

    • Profit is really S$1.7B (A$2.0B) after you take out a one-off financial transaction.

Yes, it's a lot of money, BUT….. they flew 26.5 million passengers a total of 120 billion kms during the year.

They make about 11c (A$0.13) for every kilometer they fly you. That's pretty much exactly what you would pay for petrol (6.5l/100km @ $2/l) for driving long distance on a freeway. And that's not taking into account the purchase of the car, rego, insurance, tyre wear, servicing etc.

If flying is cheaper than driving, I reckon they are doing pretty well on providing value.

  • So airlines just do fake sales now huh?

  • Anyone check if flights went up over $50?

  • I recently did a search for Adelaide to Tokyo on Friday and the price was $1480 per person. After this deal went live, I checked again and the exact same flight/date is now $1545.

Unfortunately my flight dates are in January so they also fall out of the $60 off date range.

I find this odd… people post 5% off or 10% off deals fairly regularly for airlines… but they never make front page… $60 is usually less than 5% of a ticket, but it insta goes front page!

    • +1

      People can't think straight

      • +2

        60 is a bigger number than 5.

        Logic checks out 😂

    • exactly what I said hence I put a negative on it to let people know "it ain't all that" lol

      • +1

I just cancelled the neg on your comment. Wish more people neg deals here, but OzB devs made every effort to reduce negs to a minimum. How are we supposed to filter out the bad from the good, if we can't neg bad deals??

  • I misread it as $60 return flights and got my hopes up for a moment
