  • Reduce 800 then it's a deal.

    9800X3D + 5080 $4k bad deal

      Show a better deal with a 9800X3D and 5080

        • Ok wow, now thats a deal.

        • +3

          Ice cold. I like it.

        • Now spec that the same as this deal.

        • If you don't care about using quality brands, sure - the Techfast one is fine. When spending $4K, most people at that level don't buy a "Palit" GPU and unnamed storage etc

          • @the-fuzz: Quality brands like the same power supply+ram they both use, along with both using a x50 tier budget motherboard? Both using Crucial ssd, 5000r vs 7000r, both of which are overkill for games. Both using 60 dollar air coolers, personally I'd upgrade to 360mm aio myself since their upgrade prices aren't worth it.

Neither uses good ram, minimum should be 6000c30 with 6000c28/26 being more affordable now.

Palit hasn't been a no name brand in years.

@JerraJones: I didn't say Palit was a no name brand, but it is at the bottom of the barrel

low quality parts v high quality parts

As much as Ozb makes fun of marsh for the fact that 99% of his takes are stupid, he's right in this instance, this is definitely not a good "deal". Even factoring in that this is a semi white build (not sure what the logic is half assing it and still asking for a premium), if you wanted to build it yourself with all specific parts included in this build, then according to pc-part picker, the sum total would be about $4391.63 (refer to https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/7f3dVF - noting I used some placeholder with the purchasing price of their specific variant for the RAM due to it not being in pcpartpicker). So their price is indeed cheaper than self building from scratch, but compared to other deals with a 9800x3d + 5080 its far more expensive (again even factoring in that its a semi white build).

I went into the techfast deal and upgraded the components to match, and ended up only a $100 less? And that's without accounting for the fact that the techfast deal doesn't really describe what brands are used for their 2TB SSD etc. so IMO, this doesn't seem to be such bad value.

          • +1

@raziel: People are just looking for the lowest total price. No other thought involved.

        • As much as Ozb makes fun of marsh for the fact that 99% of his takes are stupid, he's right in this instance

He finally got one to stick.

This is great, please don't follow up with something stupid like "should be 1800"

Premium quality parts for an extra $1000 over the techfast deal? Nah bro, I'd hardly call these "premium quality" they're all average parts, I'm not saying they're bad , just not what i'd call premium/top tier, nothing here is worth $1000 more than the techfast deal, sorry.

PC Part Picker list, not sure why they didn't include this in the post always a good reference. $4373.63
Couldn't find a price for the exact RAM but used CL30 instead.

Well done, but as you said - onus should be on the OP to provide

yep, its always the first thing i look at when a deal is put up.

    • i used the wrong cooler, Zoria model is slightly more expensive than what i used. oops. Actual cost should of been $4391.63.

    • the cpu they use is tray version, which is cheaper than the PC Part Picker price

  • +2

$1000 more than the most recent Techfast deal, for $1000 worth of upgrades. Can't really complain about that unless you are really just looking for the cheapest possible 5080 build. Both deals cost approximately $500 less than the total of their parts.

6000 CL34 is unacceptable at this price, should be at least 6000 CL30…

    • agreed - TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32 GB 6000 CL30 in white or black is $169/$179
