the fk did i just buy?
Well we know what you'll be using it for
looks like a good deal
Full feature USB-C with power delivery. Nice.
Gone. The time I took to quickly google the brand and double check n97 release date (for my parents. Just wanted something new) it disappeared lol.
Rookie mistake. Order first, then research and then cancel before shipping.
I knowwwww. Ah well. Lol
What’s the use case for those getting one?
Low power machines for light office use.
Home servers
Plex machinesI guess more than enough for my parents? They just usually watch YouTube’s and do a bit of browsing and ms word?
Yup. Would be plenty. It's exactly what I'm trying to get for my rents!
Don't really have one, bought one because ozbargain
Retro gaming. Superb.
To save money
Damn it. Missed out
I want to try linux and this seems like the perfect fit
Put it on you existing machine…
Beginner Distros like Mint and Ubuntu will automatically set up Dual Boot.Buying this type of device to "test out Linux" is like iPhone users buying a $50 handset to "test out Android".
It'll work, but the experience is going to be below par.Dual boot - is it 1999? Virtual machines are the way to go. WSL-2 or VirtualBox :-)
It'll work, but the experience is going to be below par.
I don't know about reliability, but the specs on paper for this are double the ram, ssd and cpu needed to run a Linux or Windows desktop well. 4GB is minimal, 8GB recommended, and 16GB luxury.
VM's are great for a muck around*, but again will be performance limited especially if you're a little light on RAM already.
Dual boot will be a 1:1 performance comparison and if you're looking to switch, will push you that way.- ignoring the use cases in a production environment.
Not $120 cheap
That dual Lan version sometimes sells for $149 on Amazon, which is how I got mine.
N150, but only 12GB of RAM, though.
Did I miss a deal or save $120? :D
"We saved $120" if it makes us feel better
Definitely.
Both in equal parts
ain’t no wayyyy, been spending the past few days looking into mini pcs for home labbing while patiently waiting for a good deal 💔 GGs to everyone that snagged one absolute banger deal
Dont be too upset, its the ddr4 version.
Ddr5 version sees a 30%+ uptick. Those Intel N CPUs are shockingly memory bottlenecked.
How to convert this into an NAS type for home use?
Not convenient at all, you need more PCIe lanes and preferably SATA ports.
Buy a DAS.
Mini PC + DAS = NASBut, it will be more efficient to buy an old dell or lenovo workstation and use it as a NAS. They usually has a lots of SATA and NVME slots.
Will have to wait for my DER to DIE before I buy a DAS. Scheisse!
Yes this was a special deal. The N97 is a great chip. I use it for a retro pc.
Teach me to sleep. Never again.
Amazon time zone deals give me the shts .
wondering, given that they put now price tag at: $668.30, will they cancel placed orders?
Link takes you to a different model now as the deal one is oos
oh, I see
I'm punching the air right now at work
Looks like it's sold out :(
Missing this one is going to haunt me
cracking deal given it's usb c
Why deal in the middle of the night
Usually about the time these come up
Often its the sellers try and stir up interest and jack the price but add a coupon. Then they put the price back down to the normal selling price but forget and leave the coupon applied for a short while.
Yeah I'm just mad I miss out on these mini PCs without fail every single time
Any keen cyclists out there know if this will run the Zwift application better than a very old Apple TV, which is what I am using now? I managed to snag one, hopefully it's good enough for that purpose.
Thanks again OP.
Mine just arrived. 16gb of ram for $120! I've been procrastinating for over 6 months.
Looking forward to tinkering with it over the weekend.
wtf mine said its coming at 1st September -.-
Depends if the stock was in your local warehouse. Mine said 1/9 on product page, but when I checked out had changed to 2/9. Has been sent by Auspost anyway, due to arrive end of next week.
Usually those long ETAs are very conservative, though I have had orders that just sat there then shipped last minute and arrived not long before the ETA.
missed out, was so much waiting for this
Anyone get a screenshot of this price?
Mine shipped with a dead NVME… Seeing what my options are at the moment.
Amazon will just tell you to return for refund probably.
Contact the seller instead, they may send a replacement part or give a refund for the amount to buy a new NVMe.
anyone used theirs yet. is it an nvme drive or a sata drive inside? i know the OP listing says NVME but looking at this model, it actually doesn't specifically state it's an NVME, just m.2 2280 SSD so I'm assuming it's just an m.2 SATA drive
Mine shipped with a dead NVME, but it was definitely meant to be an NVME drive.
Managed to snag one and I've got to say that it was a bit bigger than the other mini PCs I have. No expandability internally even though it seems there is provision for 2.5" but the cable isn't provided and looks to be custom. Mine's working just fine - HighRel NVMe 2280 M.2 PCIe3.0x4 Maxio-based DRAM-less SSD with 16MB HMB using Micron 232L TLC NAND, but only at x1 rates. RAM stick looks like they use Micron recycled packages, SPD says Vickter but label says Gofatoo, but passes the test. PSU is good, standby power better than my other mini PCs, but size blocks adjacent powerpoints. BIOS doesn't look properly customised, platform name suggests relation to BOSGAME. 2.5GbE is Intel chipset, surprisingly. Cooling is decent.

HOLY cow……very detailed review. Well done.
Is that one in your pics from Amazon. The one I got came in a rectangle box. Wonder if there's any differences
Yes. I got mine via Amazon, this particular deal.
very detailed analysis. did you check for malware at all?
@ironworthy: Only a quick scan - didn't detect anything using Windows Defender, Malwarebytes. I watched the network traffic in and out of the box for the first few hours - didn't see anything out of the ordinary either.
I can't guarantee cleanliness as nothing is ever "perfect" - if you're concerned about the OS, you can reload it from a clean image and go driver hunting for anything that doesn't automatically come down via Windows Updates, or switch to Linux. Won't save you if there's something truly wrong at the firmware level - but that's a risk I'm willing to take.
Mine was also a flatter rectangular box.
@luigough Yeh bit annoying they don't include the SATA cable. I also have a Bosgame E2 which uses the same and also didn't include it.
I tracked down what's needed for them when I got that one though, SATA cable for the X86-P5 should do the job. Bit pricier than some similar looking non-working ones though, haven't bought as don't really need but got the info from hereWow @bamzero - must have been quite a bit of detective work to find out the cable required. Much appreciated you letting me know - even though it's not inexpensive, it's probably worth it just to have additional storage.
@luigough: Just further to this, I have also come across another cable that may be compatible that goes by the part number AUK01972RB (seems it is a 100mm cable vs the 150mm of the AUK02520B above) referenced here and here on different mini PC models but ultimately still no luck (looked promising when I found this one at half the price but unfortunately no longer available.)
Putting it out there anyway if it helps anyone in future.
Looks like a damn good deal, bought before I looked at the product details 🤣
Thanks OP!
