I have done some benchmarking, and this is WAY faster than a N97 or N150. Great retro machine. Emulation up to PS2, GC and Dreamcast.
Perfect for office tasks as well.
Shame it is DDR4 RAM but at least it is dual channel.
Nice to have a full function USB C port as well at the back.

    • Comes with Win 11 Pro. Just updated the details.

      • Thanks, missed that.

I need a new office computer. Will this happily have a bunch of MS Office programs and accounting and chrome open at the same time?

    • Easy as….16GB helps a lot….

      Trying some more emulation now…. Sega Model 3 - 1080p easily….

      • What’s your setup for emulation? Please share.

        • Depends on what you are emulating. Retroarch for a lot and individual emulators for the more complex machines.

      16GB RAM = 16 tabs in Chrome.

      • Meanwhile my mum's 5 year old Samsung with over 700 tabs in Chrome.

  • not baaaad.. not bad not bad not bad..

    WiFi 4, BT 5.0

It's Wi-Fi 5, not 4 — would be a worry if it was that outdated!

    As per the specs:

    HDMI 2.1, RJ45 2.5GbE LAN, USB 3.2, USB-C (DP/DATA/PD), WIFI5/ BT 5.0

      Updated. Apols.

Even though it comes with Win11 Pro, if you try to enrol it into intune it will say the key is invalid. So I don’t think these are proper Windows license keys.

    Hmm tempting.

Also same thing but 512GB SSD for $309 for those who want to save a little.

      • Thankyou. Did you have both? Curious on the comparison!

        • Both what?

          • @boxall: Benchmarks. You mentioned you'd benchmarked both?

            • @Ademos: My N97:

  • If you wanted something like that with modern BT and HDMI but in a bigger form factor (like a micro tower or similar) would it be any cheaper? Where would you look for it?

For anyone who wants to compare between a few types of mini PC's, perhaps you can check this file:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14hlhWYL4agfXEk5C7Be0…

Or you can also browse to Mini PC reddit group.
Please be advised that the google doc is based on US mini PC's, so some PC's may be different from the AU ones.

  • There are also these, slightly cheaper at both the 512 and 1TB price points, but using the 35w 3550H instead of the 15w 3500u:

    • 3500U can go to 35w.

This one is $249 with $240 coupon
    Ryzen 7 32gb 1 tb

    • Is this a better machine than the one in OP's post?

      • YES by far. That is one of the ones with the coupon that shouldn't be there. Don't hesitate….

    • What did I just buy? I want to try to set this up with a DAS. Does anyone have any recommendations for a DAS that is super cheap but still decent? Should I just install CasaOS on this?

      • do you already have the drives?

        • yer just a mix of 2.5" and SSD drives. Like a bunch of external ones that i wanted to put in to a single container.

    • great spot, been waiting to catch one of these unicorn deals

    • I think they may have just hiked the price after you linked it.

      I'm only seeing $999 - $240 now.

      • Yes they did unfortunately

      • it ran out quick, $999 is a different CPU.

  • Waiting for something with a N355.
    8 core 8 thread 3.9 GHz boost.

  • Shame it is DDR4 RAM but at least it is dual channel.

    This +

    These two

    WiFi 5, BT 5.0

Should be more modern for me. CPU for most office works is overkill, but these stuff are more important for power and connectivity. At least that's my reason to stay away from this and wait for the ddr5, wifi6 + bt5.2 version on other gmktec pcs to go on sale.

  • Can i run 3 monitors off of this?

    • Sorry did you actually click on the link? It is in the description. The answer is yes.
