  • Anyone using these as a plex or HTPC?

    • +3

many are using the lower spec Intel N100/N150

This begin a 8 core 16 thread will be able to do that and more

    • +20

BUY then ask. Seriously this is a bargain.

      • Too late!

      • I saved fortune by canceling Amazon Prime &now I have to think 2x, then decide I don't need it now. Free life is worth much more than consumerism addiction (+ I'm more ethical by not financing US/UK warmongering ;)

        • +18

Are you sure you're on the right site?

We are material girls, and this is a material world.

        • +3

Pro-Chinese talking about consumerism is so ironic. 80% of the world's landfills are filled with useless Chinese goods and packaging.

      • Me too, buy first and talk later, lol.

    • HTPC is good, worth doing some research on Plex, as it seems that Intel Quicksync offers better performance (hence the popularity of the N100/N150 mini-PCs)

  • Thanks OP.

  • finally caught one

  • Refreshed cart, and discount now gone for me

    • same :-(

  • woo got it just in time!

  • Got it

  • +2

Gooone! Well done to those who managed to nab one!

  • can't see coupon on my end.

  • +4

Amazon deal insta buy, then research then cancel if its shit deal.

  • woohoo got it thanks op .

  • Thanks, ordered one when see R7 5825U for $250. Didn't even check the other spec yet.

  • +3

    Have to be SO quick:

    • -1

      oof rub it in

      • +1

Sorry was just showing this was real.

  • +1

Got one, hope it isn't rubbish … but for that price it's almost a complete no brainer. Hopefully they honour the deal.

    • +2

Have had a lot of success with GMKTec. No issues at all.

    • +1

I've got the Ryzen 5 6600H/16gb (now 32gb - cost me $120)/512gb and its been great. Paid the same as this one and even that price hasn't been repeated and its a lower spec machine.

      You did good

  • and gone…

  • Anyone know a good cable for the DP1.4 to Hdmi 2.1 so I can output 4k 120hz?

  • Poo missed out

  • +1

    missed it :(

  • +1

darn, i didnt even snooze, yet I lose ..

  • Missed it but thumbs up for the deal. This is quite powerful for a homeland server or HTPC.

  • +1

I saw old mates comment in the other mini PC thread and thought I must have been missing something cause this one looked like a way better deal… Embracing my inner ozbargainism, I clicked buy without putting any more thought in to it.

I came back to check for comments saying "lol you noob, that's worse because of reason x,y,z" and spend the rest of the afternoon feelingbadman.jpg, but hooray! Looks like it was actually a bargain!

Just to be super annoying, I'm actually planning on using it for an office PC…. the most boring possible use of a bargain.

    • +1

This actually makes a great office PC. Very capable CPU, 32gb memory is sweet spot for Win11, 1TB storage will be enough for long time just storing applications and documents. Low profile on the desktop.

The iGPU it comes with doesn’t have AV1 decode, which is not ideal as a media server.

      • +3

The iGPU it comes with doesn’t have AV1 decode, which is not ideal as a media server.

Good news! I have a Dell R730 and 24 disk JBOD for that!

I think I spend more in electricity a month to run that server than I just did buying this mini PC :-\

      • Would it be ok as a Plex type server? Just thinking of putting all my DVDs on backup and then streaming them out. I thought the AV1 feature was more for subscription services.

        • +1

Surely you can rip it down H264.

  • -2

Well done to those who got it, but surely they'll cancel and refund.

    • -1

      Why?

      • Pricing error / losing money on it

        • It depends on the store. Sometimes it's an error, in the case like the monitors, they will cancel. sometimes they just want to get rid of stock and do a heavy discount promo

          • +2

@ironworthy: Already shipped. So it’s coming.

            • @boxall: Mines like 25th August expected delivery the earliest. So hopefully it gets shipped soon…

            • +1

              @boxall: Delivered. Will play tomorrow.

        • +1

          mine has shipped

          • @3dprintdeals: congrad, good to see that they're honoring it.

            • +1

@kml22: Just got an update, ETA this Saturday 23rd August now.

  • I missed out but I’m not all surprised this great deal was snapped up in no time. Nice find @boxall and thanks for sharing!

  • Dayum, all these insanely good mini PC deals are popping out of the woodwork all of a sudden! Makes me wonder if it's all done on purpose.

  • CURSESSSS

  • How power hungry are these compared to N150?

    • Very! only reason I could but did not get it (if it makes you feel better :) )

      • lol… that depends on how much more…

    • +1

This one probs consume twice power, but you are comparing N150 with 4 core 4 threads vs R7 5825U with 8 core 16 threads here. The performance is almost 4 times different.

      • Is this overkill for Plex, Home Assistant, Homebridge and WireGuard? Been looking to replace my Pi 4 with broken USB ports.

        • How are broken USB ports better than a Pi4?

      • +1

Found this from two years ago.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14241494/redir

Assuming N95 and N150 consume similar amount, $80/year (twice the power) at 2023 rates is not insignificant.

Just trying to make myself feel better for missing out on the deal 😂

        • Using similar comparison:

Intel N150 TDP is 6 watt CPU benchmark 5474
Ryzen 7 5825U TDP is 15 watt CPU benchmark 18101

    • It's all relative.. idle not much, under load yes but with more performance. Probably not anything you'd notice on your power bill though…

  • +1

    Missed, envy you guys 😭

  • +3

    Monster specs for $250!

  • Damn, what a deal. Well done to those of you who got one.

  • Must have been a price error or they forgot to remove the discount box.

    • +3

Sure is. That's why I told everyone, buy now and ask later.

  • I got one of these off aliexpress but at what was already a good price. this is an extremely hot price.

It's good performance, but fan is abit noisy to me at stock though since i run it 24/7 and dont need maximum performance i reduced TDP and its quiet.

    • How?

      • +1

        Bios setting.

  • For all you guys that saw this and bought one within the 10 minutes for it to sell out, you are insane, well done.
Is there any automation for getting notified of bangup deals? Seems I'm always a hour or two late for the really good ones.

    • +1

Not really. There is the OzBargain Telegram app, but there's a 10min delay on that from the time that a deal is posted, which wouldn't have been useful in this case. For these kinds of short-lived deals it really is a matter of being online at the right time.

    • +1

I'm usually in the same position (watching bargains get snapped up and missing out). It was literally Just me happening to have been online when the deal was posted and then completely disengaging my logical mind and pulling the trigger instantaneously. Act first, think later - the old OzB proverb.

  • I want to run home assistant but also run the device as a media player with Signal RGB for hue display. Anyone know if this device is capable of running Home Assistant OS in virtual and still outputting 4k 120hz SignalRGB Hue?

    • Use linux or proxmox or similar hypervisor os. Run HAOS in VM and other things in either Vm or docker/lxc.

100% you can run multiple services on almost all mini pcs.

    • Easily with proxmox hypervisor

    • You should be able to pass thru the display adapter to whichever VM you wanna use for media or gaming

  • dammit as per usual

  • +1

woah, monster deal OP, Win 11 Pro key cost as much
congrats to everyone who scored this bargian

    • +4

Who is buying windows 11 keys…

  • wow what an incredible deal! wish I'd caught it. Congrats to those that got one.

    • +3

That's the price for barebone, without the 32GB RAM or 1TB storage.

    • +1

Barebones. Don’t think there is any RAM, storage or OS included.

  • Bummed out I missed this.

  • What can you do with dual lan on this unit?

    • pfsense/opnsense router
      network bonding
      VLAN

      • So essentially making your own custom router?

        • +1

yes, that is one reason why you would need dual lan.

    • in case you get cheese in one port

  • Mine got shipped just then, weird time of the day to ship an item for Amazon, they usually shipped at night I think it's 6pm or 7pm, maybe it's not shipped by Amazon.

  • Looks like this is back, but for a price of $489.

  • +1

Will benchmark this today. Putting it in performance mode adds a bit of fan noise but as it is under the TV not an issue. Super quick setup. No Microsoft account required. Love that.

    • Just wondering, they are free of spyware? Just curious.

      • +1

I have checked them many times. No malware that I can find.

        • I don't trust it, I always reformat it and reinstall windows, Windows license is attached to the PC.

      • +1

        just do a fresh install
