can some one confirm if this was real, not fake? there are so many fake ones there. Thanks
no one has received yet, best is to look at the photos and read the reviews, and then pray to Chinese gods
the seller is listed as safe on a wiki page
Big Wiki Page with tons of information for this particular device
Thanks for this!
Check xda if you can run android on it…. Not 100% but getting there.
but why… the OS on there is usually good enough, wouldnt android be more bloaty
Yea. Only 1gb of RAM. Not going to support play store that’s for sure.
Back to 22
$42 for me. Was going to grab a third as a gift. :( o well have the hope there is another sale soon
yep, been bobbing up and down like crazy, keep an eye on it as it may go down again.
Yer I got one. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet
Buy a new SD
Load a fresh ArkOS onto it
Spend more time picking your games out than actually playing.
Delivered in a few days. Impressive turnaround.
Can't tell if it's a clone though.
Check page one someone shared how to check.
Based on that it looks like a clone.
I'll download an official ArkOS image and see if it boots from that.
theres the wiki, this is on the safe list of sellers. btw the sd card is rubish, get a new one.
@PS2isBetterthanPS3: I saw that. However, it looks near exactly the same as the one I purchased from 'SUPER FUN GAME Store' which the wiki says is a 'clone' store.
I can't tell at the moment, without opening them up or trying some different FWs.
I'll swap out the SD, thanks.
@jwh: I thought we can see from the back its transparent, something on the pcb board gave away a hint clone or not but i forgot the details.
@jwh: The easiest test is to eject the as card and push the power button. If anything comes up except a blank screen it’s a clone.
You can also turn it off then plug in the charger. If it shows a battery symbol it’s a clone.
Either of those will show 80% of clones.
@internet-stranger: Both of my consoles showed a black screen with the SD card removed.
Both also showed a black screen when charged without an SD card.
Guess they're both likely original?
@Rage Roze: I've loaded up ArkOS (06302025) to a spare 16GB SD card.
Seems to be all good here. Might have to grab a larger card now.
This guy bought one from the same store (BOYHOM) and is going through all the ways to check it’s not a clone.
https://youtu.be/VlfWA9gVqmM?si=IhzFW0ueAroGkvM7@Hugh Man: Just got mine today. it uses rk3326-rg351mp-linux.dtb file that matches what that video said to check & uses panel 4 from reading gameconsole-r36s.dtb file. Seems legit
Mine arrived, swapped sd with a ark flashed and seems to work
Looks like it has the 2 memory chips
So legit I guess…Surprised at how much you get for 20bux. Tempted to buy another as a gift
well, its back down to that price!
A few people here have mentioned swapping the card with another one flashed with ark, why is that? I did no research and just bought it because it was cheap, and it seems to work fine out of the box with the included games. What are the benefits of installing ark myself?
I think, from what I’ve read, the included micro sd card is low quality and prone to failure so it’s recommended to copy everything over to a new sd card before you lose all your games.
That sounds annoying
I assume the new card would require specific formatting rather than just a ‘select all, copy, paste’ from original cardOh I see, so nothing to do with updating the OS or anything like that? I'll take the risk for now in that case
@Jayphen: there is no risk, just do a backup of your card, (you dont need to copy it to a new card) - that way when it does fail you have it already without having to find software
Can anyone recommend a hand held with HDMI and Bluetooth or wired separate controller support?
Have a look at the anbernic devices. USB c, Bluetooth and HDMI, will do what you need.
I've plugged mine into the tv with no issues.
Can you plug in tv and use 8bitdo or other wireless controllers to play games?
Received it today, the real one (based on R36s wiki, it has 2 ram chips). It looks very good
Ditto ! 👍
Can anyone share step by step on how to set it up with ArkOS etc and get new games? Is there any video link?
Apart from the wiki mentioned earlier, I would recommend this video from YouTuber @SjslTech (who just so happens to be Aussie) to get started:
https://youtu.be/yiOcVitDhoE?si=OKXxmOt2VjD5CFmu
It's worth checking his other related videos too
Followed this guide and put a new sd card in with the latest ArkOS. I was slightly worried I had a clone because the sticker on the back of mine says “consola retro” but everything checks out and seems legit. Even got it connected to wifi with a dongle. Downloaded some Commodore 64 games and they work so I’m happy.
I have yet to do it and this is very reassuring 😁
Once up, I have to send videos to old fellas for bit flexing 😂
Is it better to go for 2 sd cards method i.e. roms on one and system on one or is it extra hassle?
If you want to update the OS later, it’s easier with 2 cards. As you can just reimage the os/first SD.
If you are going to set it up once and just use it, or going to plug in a USB wifi adapter or are happy to follow the easy (but slightly harder than a fresh install) upgrade instructions 1 card is fine.
I use 1 SD for all my devices. Never been an issue and saved me some $.@internet-stranger: Thanks, whats the sd card size you usually use? I have an old 64GB lying around - will that be enough for games+system?
@ChipsChicky: 64gb will hold all NES, SNES, Mega Drive, Master System, GB, GBA, GBC games ever made.
You will even have space left for some quality N64, PS1 and PSP games.@internet-stranger: Thanks - One thing that with the stock games, screen isn't as crisp as shown in youtube videos etc. Is it due to stock games have low quality and I should get games from tiny**** or is there some setting need to be changed?
Anyone else not able to currently download ArkOS_R35S-R36S_v2.0_07312025-1_MultiPanel.img.xz ???
I am getting this message from the Github Download:

I assume you are sourcing from the google drive link? Try one of the other ones (mediafire or MEGA)
@RaceDoge: Thanks - One thing that with the stock games, screen isn't as crisp as shown in youtube videos etc?
Also, when I installed ARKOS, it showed the screen on first boot, after that I tried to keep R1+Left pressed for panel 4 selecting but nothing comes up to select. HAs it already picked Panel 4 and that's why the screen was showing after first boot?
@ChipsChicky: Personally I have been impressed with the screen quality, considering it was only ~$20.
Regarding the screen selection process during initial boot, you won't see anything on the screen confirming your input, but if your screen is working then you must have done the right thing ;)
If anyone is looking to usb tether for wifi. You can use the adaptor below from K-mart, and the R36S's included cable. Adaptor into the R36S OTG port and cable into phone, etc.

nice
FFS, landed in Melbourne, my location, now au post have sent this to NT!
AP have blamed a machine error, still frustrating. No compensation from AP.
Finally arrived yesterday, now to decide weather to gift it or keep it…
At this price point they are perfect for the kids classmates birthday gifts…I should have fought 10, and kept them as gifts! At 20 each it's cheaper than what we normally spend! And a reasonably awesome gift.
Mine finally arrived. Any decent microSD deals atm?
We dont need big so if me i will get 2x32gb pack from amazon maybe patriot brand. Good enough. No need sandisk or samsung.
is there any difference in games quality from stock vs tiny best ? the stock games doesn't seem that crisp.
i dont think so, the rom is rom no one will bother to modify them there are some maybe hack japan rom game to load english but just few and should not alter the game quality
@McMaferMur: & by 2x32GB, you mean to setup dual card method? System will read games from both cards?
@ChipsChicky: yes i like dual also i mean just get decent small 32/64 card from amazon they are cheap already no need wait for "deals" you can get 1 or 2 up to you. 32 or 64gb up to you.
@McMaferMur: but i read that there are tine best game sets upto 256gb and I thought I have to download them for best experience?
@ChipsChicky: well, do you have time to play 1000 games ? this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16864133/redir
@McMaferMur: Well, actually I don't have but I am pretty new to it, I was thinking to get all the games from there or how do I should setup my games or find games?
@ChipsChicky: Personally, if I have 1,000 games I play none or flick them on for 5 mins then go try something else.
I found finding a Top 10/20/xx list for that console and loading just those games onto a card they get a lot more gameplay.
Once you get past the top 100 in most consoles you have played most the “good” ones.
Still kicking myself I missed out on this

No thanks, god knows what they do with your data once you install these trojan horse apps. Happy to pay a few bucks extra.
