8WEEKSFREE

Pretty much a standard deal from BUPA. 6 Weeks after 28 Days. 2&6 month waiting periods waived on Extras

8 weeks free, with the value of your free weeks based on your level of cover when payment is made. How it works:
In most cases, your 6 weeks free will be applied 28 days after you join, extending the date you’re “paid to”.
The remaining 2 weeks are applied once you’ve held eligible cover for 13 months, extending the date that billing cycle is “paid to”.

have not held domestic Bupa health insurance within the last 12 months of your join date;

An Eligible Health Insurance Policy is a combined Domestic Hospital and Extras product or packaged product issued by Bupa but excludes any hospital product when combined with Extras Saver cover.

  • This might be a better deal

    Only 60 days previous policy holder restriction.

    • yeah. 12 months sucks but it has free weeks instead of the ER points..

  • Anyone know if the Policyholder is just the main policyholder or does this apply to anyone on the policy?

  • Call their customer retention team after anything like this expires or if existing and can't access it, they gave me a 16% discount on my cover for 2 years, on top of my 10% age based discount I still have.

    Bupa is typically more expensive so you can easily quote cheaper pricing, but they actually provide better outpatient services and follow up (OT, psychology, etc, all free)

    • they gave me a 16% discount on my cover for 2 years

      12% is the maximum discount per annum that can be offered by law. See clause 6 in Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Rules 2015:

      (1) For subparagraph 66‑5(1)(c)(ii) of the Act, the maximum percentage discount allowed is 12% per annum.

      It seems to me that you got dudded.
