14 Weeks Free Cover (via HBF)
New HBF members who take out a combined Hospital + Extras policy between 8 May 2025 and 28 August 2025 get 14 weeks free cover.
You must pay the first month premium upfront, then HBF applies the 14 weeks free as one continuous block immediately after.

Requirements (read carefully)

Must be a new HBF member (no HBF hospital or extras cover in the last 12 months — dependents excepted).
Must purchase Hospital + Extras cover together in one transaction.
Must pay via direct debit (bank or credit card).
Policy start date must be 8 May – 28 August 2025 (for the 14 weeks free).
To get the $300 gift card, you must also start cover before 30 September 2025 and be one of the first 391 via Finder’s promo link.

How it works

Start date (example: 25/08/2025) → You pay your first monthly premium upfront.
Next 14 weeks → HBF applies the free cover immediately after that first paid month. You won’t be charged again until early December 2025.
Finder reward → The $300 Visa gift card is issued within 90 days of your policy start, provided your cover is still active. This lines up roughly with the end of the free period.
Churn strategy → Once both benefits have landed (free cover + gift card), you can consider switching to another provider.

then HBF applies the 14 weeks free as one continuous block immediately after.

No it doesn't. Your AI is confused.

I guess so, was too much reading for me, not enough time :D

Fulfilment of the 14 weeks free offer
    • 6 weeks free cover will be applied to your policy after 31 days from the start of your policy.
    • 4 weeks free cover will be applied to your policy after 13 months from the start of your policy.
    • 4 weeks free cover will be applied to your policy after 26 months from the start of your policy.

    From the Terms & Conditions

So really, it's 6 weeks free if you're churning

      thanks for clarifying

Still 100$ expensive (on a monthly basis) than same cover with say Medibank. Get a better deal, mate

    • 6 weeks free + $300 gift card though?

      • -1

That's true, but you need to keep churning like NBN deals….do people also do this with health cover? with most people it's set and forget

  • +2

You have to maintain cover until atleast 6th January, and will get the $300 gift card by 31st January 2026

    • For finder part. Did you see the qualification date?

I will share this again. HBF does not offer aged based discount. So, if you have ABD and decide to sign up to this offer, you will lose it. ABD can save you thousands as it applies until youre 40

    • Appreciate this. I realised I have a 6% discount so not keen to lose this

    • Keeping a policy for the age-based discount isn't a good idea, at least in my view. At most, you're going to get 10% off per annum.

Churning through 'pay 1 month, get 6 weeks free' offers yields an annual discount of approximately 58%.

      • But you can churn through most providers deals and still get the ABD. But seems you can't with HBF

        • But who cares? The churn discount is significantly greater.

Sound like you have a bee in your bonnet about HBF.

  • still waiting on my $500 Finder / HBF gift card from months ago…. I hold my breath

    • It's due to be paid end of Aug… If you are still with them

  • "Must be a new HBF member (no HBF hospital or extras cover in the last 12 months — dependents excepted)."

Can anyone please clarify if this extends to see-u by HBF?

I switched from see-u a few months ago, so am wondering if I am still eligible for this offer.

    • +1

They confirmed to me that having held a See-u by HBF policy does not preclude you from this promotion. You should get this confirmation for yourself.

I also suggest that you read the full terms and conditions, not just someone's summary above.

      • Cheers. I did, but no clear reference to 'see-u', just HBF policies.
