Saw looks to be 165mm too not bad

Can anyone comment on the angle grinder? I bought a ryobi one. Crappest thing ever. Constantly stops mid cut. Anything but light duty I need to go back to my plug in electrical one with an extension cord.

I rate it. Overall I have been pretty pleased with the Stanley 18v stuff when compared with Ozito and Aldi options. The range of tools is decent, not as good as Ozito, but still good.

Can't comment on Ryobi specifically but on my Worx tools it turned out to be the battery. Bought a 20v third party compatible battery (even though the tool was rated at 18v) and the problem was solved.

      • Thanks. I'll give this a go before jumping ship. Sure a third party battery would be a cheaper test than just getting a new grinder. I left it too long to return I think.

So Li cells operate over a range of voltages. Some say the nominal voltage is 3.6, some 3.7 v. Fully charged they are over 4V, but it drops off quickly.

        18V = 20V = 21 V - it's 5 lithium cells in series. If you have a 2.5Ah set, it's probably just 5 cells in the whole pack. 5Ah is probably 10 cells, 2 parallel sets of 5.

The 20V vs 18V was not the reason. But not all lithium cells are made the same.

        • great explanation…was just thinking how Dewalt uses 20v from the States but we have 18v. Same tools, glad there is no power difference

    • Had a Stanley drill driver and impact kit for 10 years (bought from Masters lol). Worked great. This kit is a little outdated being brushed, so a little less compact/noisier. But this is a great starter kit.

I've since moved to Chinese tools that take Makita batteries. A little cheaper but a lot more features = more bang for buck.

Which brands / tool if you don't mind sharing?

      • Could you please elaborate on what more features you get and where to find these chinese tools? Thanks.

        • I bought circular saw, reciprocal saw, blower and 2 batteries.
As a weekend warrior these have been great. The reciprocal saw with Bosch blades is great for pruning arm thick branches.

You normally get brushless across the board with the Aliexpress tools. The Stanley here are brushed. Not a big deal for DIY. It does maks the small Ozito battery work for long enough for me being brushless. Also the tools are more compact and very powerful compared to the starter Stanley. I can take wheels nuts off with the Heimerdinger impact (not that you should for longevity).

stops mid cut because its low battery or your cutting into something and its grabbing the disc or not cutting straight, its a good safety feature so it doesnt explode in your face

      • Yeh quite possible. It just feels like it's got no power. Soon as you try to push it, it cuts out. My corded one is a bit older and not ryobi so maybe it doesn't have the cut out safety feature and just keeps going and cutting through.

        • the corded ones just go hard, if the grinding disc explodes it will continue going lol

i found that you need the right disc for different jobs, the thin ones are good and cut like butter and im running with an ozito it does the same thing your talking about but gets the job done, i know why its cutting out because im doing something stupid

1 Year Limited Warranty, 3 Year Limited Warranty When Registered

    • That seems oddly low. Is this normal across tools? I'm no professional but I know Ryobi offers a fair bit more than that

      • exactly what I thought too

      • +1

Dewalt which is part of the same company has the same warranty. Used to be 3 years with no need to register but Ive had no problems getting warranty on 2yo DW tools that I never bothered to register. Bosch Blue is 1 year or 6 with registration.

  • How do the drills compare to DeWalt in general?

    • +3

I would say these are a tad better or equal to Ryobi. Dewalt is a lot better than Ryobi. That said, Ryobi does a decent job

    • Just asked chatgpt and apparently this one is not brushless

  • Great kit combo - I have none of these. Hopefully solid for home use.

  • Is this a relatively good deal as compared to their usual sale cycle?

  • +2

    That's a lot of stuff for $260.

Are they brushless? Can't find the info.
    Thank you.

      no

    • +3

This cannot be unseen by any true ozbargainer. $37.99 savings. Just gotta wait for it to drop to this price again over the next couple of years or so.

  • lack of Brushless motors is a deal breaker for me.
