  • Ddr4 at this price?

    I like the other specs.

I value a good deal on this will be around the 300 Mark

Ryzen 7 5700U is actually rebranded a Ryzen 3000 series (3rd gen) chip. Even if it was 5000 series, still no chance of DDR5. I have some Dell laptop with this chip, perfectly responsive for desktop use, never wished for DDR5.

This discount happens so regularly it's just the normal price. https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0DK3W9CHB

Edit: I pretty much use Origimagic mini PCs as a baseline comparison for other mini PC discounts 🤣

  • title says ryzen 5, you might want to update that.

    • thanks updated.

  • This CPU is now 4.5 years old. 4 new generations of Ryzen CPUs have been released since then. This is also a base clock of only 1.8Ghz, and I'd expect 6800U performance (2.7GHz) as a minimum at this price.

Can you get 6800u's at this price, or was that just pulled out of the preverbial?

Just love the “expect more” comments. We all want more. This is good value. I posted the G10 deal and this is much better value.

Even this one I was expecting someone to say they expected more: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/920187

      • The deal you posted was actually really good bang for your buck! I would've hopped on if I didn't already have a 5825U from a previous deal.

Although admittedly the one you posted has one fewer USB C port, so yeah, not quite as good in comparison. Or as you put it, "Me want more!" 😅

  • What is the main use for this PC ? Desktop or for entertainment on the couch ?

  • A novice question, would it be suitable as a replacement for a i3 laptop, 16GB with 256ssd, Win-10 which has uses MS office 70% of the time (50% xls with multiple tabs, 25% word, 25% ppt) and firefox 20% of the RAM (100 or so bookmarks) and pdf for the remaining 10%? Rarely video streams, no gaming. Will having the older ssd connected via USB be a valid option/ improve performance? Thanks!

    • You will be ok with a gmktec 125 mini pc that was on sale yesterday. This is overkill for your need.

It will likely be a much better experience depending on how old your laptop is.

  • Thanks, appreciate your response. Will keep an eye for a future deal
