This or the 36v gang? Seems that the 36v never on sale T_T

I've got a 40v green works, it struggles with longish grass or damp grass, this would be only good for artificial turf 😋

Really depends on your lawn size but the 36v steel deck is a beast. Heavier obviously but it shreds.

      • 2nd this one, best mower I have owned

      • Yeah, mine ended up getting destroyed by honkey nuts, need to invest in the steel.

Go the 2x18v (36v) plastic model. I have both and fold them up and hang them off a wall. I started with the 18v it's okay for a small yard 50sqm back 30sqm front, but needed to do a few passes if the grass gets long. The 36 is more powerful and cuts better, the plastic catcher on the 18v is annoying (I ended up taking the blade off the 18v and it's now a toy for my kids) .

      • Is it the $400 one? Thanks

      • I also have the 36V plastic deck model. It's great. Plenty of grunt. Even handles taller or wetter grass than the 18V could ever dream of, although I would still recommend doing a pass at max height and then at the intended height.

Plastic deck means it's quite light. The only criticism is that the pressure to hold the trigger engaged is higher than from other brands I've used.

        • Those fabric cables ties for like .10c from aliexpress are your friend.

          • @Nalar: Yeah, but it's a safety feature. I just would mind the spring being a bit lighter.

@Erwark: I cant post .gif's in here but just picture that Eric Bana scene in black hawk down.

18v is fine, just don't skip cutting the lawn over summer

it's so light you'd burn more calories going for a walk

    • +1

My wifes got toys with more grunt than the 18v.

      skip it for the 36

      • Read in a certain way this makes you sound like a prophet.

    • If your lawn is bigger than that of a townhouse's then save yourself the frustration and get the 36V.

If you need this, I recommend camping on fbm. Plenty of people who bought this and upgrading when they discover they need more power.

    • +1

power is fine, battery lasts a decent amount too

this is form a lawn with that terminator kiruki weed grass

im guessing people who upgrade are trying to cut a lawn that's overgrown, most electrics will struggle

      • Yeah mine 300mm is fine, just don't let it overgrown

This is ideal for artificial turf, anything else it will struggle!

  • Any strong opinions about this one from Greenworks?

I have this mower, it technically cuts my Kikuyu 50m2 but is frustrating and takes 3 times longer than it should. Small court yard would be great, otherwise I wouldn't recommend

    • I got through 100m2 of kikuyu in autumn but it wasn’t long or wet although that was on the lowest setting and it basically scalped the lawn. The battery was super hot at the end though and wasn’t game to charge it.
I bought mine to use on my new house which has no lawn just garden but 30m2 of grass nature strip and it is perfect for that. Light and easy and hangs up in the corner of the garage.

  • Haven't yet setup my petrol one from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/919151 but bought with OnePass so I have 365 days to change my mind. Just bought this one instead, some prick nicked my charger for the Ozito battery that's in my drill a while back and I've been dreading when it finally goes flat, so this is a ripper. Thanks OP!

  • Voltage is no indication of what it can do.
Total weight of machine is a bit of a better clue.
Rule of thumb: Electric is great but machine by machine as per gravity petrol does at least twice the work.
Thin couch grass on sand the above can handle 100m2
Buffalo gras, well get the largest beast.
