It is a good alt, i was in between the p1s and this, but figured as a beginner this one is a lot more forgiving as it defaults a lot of settings so you dont screw the print up. Also happy with the touch screen and RFID spool tracking so i cant mess those settings up either.

It was plug and play from the box

      • Mines over 900hrs since I turned it on in March :). The print quality is really good for the amazing price. Its my no fuss get things done printer…while my other one is the 'hobby' printer :)

  • Let's see how long it takes for them to release a multihead/nozzle printer.

Its been running basically non stop. Perks of wfh.

Done some pretty cool prints and currently a piggy bank for the kid

  • Damn this is dropping in price rapidly. I've pledged the Snapmaker U1 already but could always find reasons to get yet another printer, the integrated dryer in the ACE is a big one.

    • U1 will be awesome if it performs as expected.

      • Yeah I really hope so, right now it's looking like a gamechanger. I saw bambu didn't want to be left out and announced their new toolchanger system too but I expect the printers that come equipped with that will be at least 3x the price of the U1

  • Is this comparable to the p1s?

    • Yes also:

      ‐ Qidi Q2
      - Elegoo Centauri Carbon
      - Flashforge AD5X
      - Creality K2 Pro

I have had both the P1S and this Kobra S1. The differences that I have found between the P1S and the S1 boil down to build quality, quality assurance, and software. If you want something more plug and play then the P1S is the better choice.

I've written a more thorough comment another thread .

I'm committing to the Kobra S1; it's currently printing PLA really well on a GECO cold plate.

great price about what i paid for mine a few months ago. Once i figured out my clogged nozzle issues its been rock solid prolly 3-400hrs on it

FYI I was running ACE hot…ish to dry filament making the filament this likely softened up filament slightly causeing feed issues.

Now I run dryers different times compared to printing. It may of been a bad roll of fillament (may of been old, sized wrong, few solids in there who knows beats me) i could likely run filament at 35/40 and be fine or tweak hotend tension.

Bambu's been coasting for the last year and I think the new offerings are too little, too late… The Vortex thats comming is interesting but the Snapmaker U1 and all the other anounced or also-rans will soon make this the basic ask for a 3D printer. As for this deal. eBay have the Flashforge AD5M AD5X 3D 4 color printer for UNDER $500 after EXTRA AU $100 OFF WITH CODE FLASH3D100 & 22% off eBay Plus discount! Its got theething problems that have plauged it since its delayed shipping in 2024 alas but thats 3D printing for you too! Also its got a smaller print bed, 220mm c.sqr but thats not a bad thing too. Bigger printers mean more waste when sh*t goes sideways too. One upside is its all opensource, just use openslicer and you can even flash the full open formware on it will lots of meddling for the true gadget guys and gals!

Dont spend too much. Try to use other peoples and do a community course or attend one somewhere… my2c
