  • Anyone tried Cellucor C4 Or ON Opti-men?

    • +1

I have tried both, but you should know that all three are for completely different purposes …

Amino Chewables - BCAA supplement in chewable form (notice this one doesn't have Caffeine) - more for recovery.
      Cellucor C4 - Pre-workout supplement
      ON Opti-Men - Daily Men's Multi-vitamin

      • I know they're for diff purposes, don't intend on amino's at all :)
1 serve of ON GS Whey for post-workout should be fine yeah?
        How'd you find the C4 + opti-men personally?

        • +3

How much and when you take your Whey protein is really up to you. I mostly take my protein like this:
1x serve whey protein with skim milk as part of my breakfast (logic being that your body has not had any source of protein for 6 - 8 hours while you were sleeping, so you want fast absorption protein here)
1x serve whey protein with skim milk post-workout
1x serve of casein protein with water before bed

If i'm feeling hungry, sometimes I'll mix 1/2 serve of whey with 1/2 serve of casein with skim milk during the day. There's no real wrong/right way to use it, here but this is just how I like to use mine.

I think I responded pretty well to the C4. Good taste and mix-ability too. When I used it, it still had DMAA though, I think the new ones don't use it anymore. It's one of my favorite pre-workouts at the moment. I'm trying out Craze at the moment, which works well but doesn't make me crash after my workout.

Opti-men is my favorite daily multi at the moment. I've tried Swisse, Centrum, Orange Triad, but I think I feel more awake when I take Opti-men in the morning.

        • I'm going to give Opti-men a go then :)
C4 Ice Razz at the moment, if you buy 3 (+3 50% offs), so 6 all up (right before it breaks 3.40lb) it's $102 USD, under $100AUD shipped to Aus, will work out to be $17 for 30 servings x 6 where as Vitaminking sells 60 servings for $49
This is with a $10 referral code btw

        • Good post. Pretty much how I roll with my protein, although I mix oats with it in the morning for a quick and filling shake (leave in fridge for ~15mins to soften oats). Use Jack3d Micro for pre-workout at that seems to be OK (not as good as the original of course) or Beast. Also been using Opti-Men but reduced the serving from the recommended 3 pills to 2, as I have a decent diet and seem to be urinating out a lot of it.

        • @narz
          Agreed
As soon as my vitacost orders arrive, I'll be using Nitrocore24, will probably reduce the servings to 30g (rather than the stated 48g) + Blended Oats for morning
+ Whey for postworkout (Only have this on hand atm)
          + Casein at night

        • urinating out a lot of it.

haha this, I've been taking Opti-men for few months now.
Every single time, my urine is dark yellow; I think this is due to the excess Vit B.

However, when I finish my 2 jars, I"ll be switching to Orange Triad.

As for pre-workouts, still on my first tub of Jack3d(original one), only use it when I really need it(as in, when I really need a kick) so I don't overuse it and fry my CNS.
1 tub could probably last me 6 months, as I rarely use it; still have 2 more Jack3d and 1 Jack3d micro.

As for me, Jack3d works wonders, it really makes me feel more 'alive' and awake, it gives my skin(primarily my forearms) a tingling sensation.

However, some preworkout may not work on people, such as MusclePharm Assault, my friend bought it and it has no effect on him whatsoever, however, he's gonna give it to me to test it out

I've noticed a few of your posts recently asking for supplement recommendations and such so I assume you've only recently started working out (or are planning to start).

I'd recommend not taking any stimulant pre-workouts so early on because it's not a good foundation to start on. For the first few months, if you're working out right, eating healthy and getting enough rest, your own gains will be enough motivation for you to keep on going.
Pre-workouts should only really be used every now and then when you really can't be bothered working out because you're feeling down, tired or whatnot. Use them too often and you'll become dependent on them and/or build a tolerance and they lose their effectiveness. Becoming dependent on them is the main reason I don't recommend them to people who are just starting out - It's not a good foundation.

What I would recommend as a pre-workout though is a 2:1/3:1 ratio of carbs to protein taken as a shake 30-60 mins before working out or eaten as a meal 1-2 hours before. 80-90 grams of carbs should be sufficient enough for you. If you feel like you need more energy then increase carbs a little. When you cut then halve your carbs.

      • Agreed that pre-workouts are for special occasions.

        • Special occasions?

        • -1

          Special occasions.

        • +1

Yep, otherwise you're body will get used to it and will have little to no effect; and you will feel tired if you do not use it(i.e. like smoking addiction, etc)

          Quality bro science there.

        • +1

          Quality bro science there.

Yeah because fatigue, withdrawal syndrome, drug tolerance and dependence resulting from the use of stimulants is totally bro science with no legitimate scientific backing behind it at all.

Allow me to put my ozb hat for a moment, but even at this price, these chewables are a really cost innefective choice of BCAA. Convenience perhaps.

    4 Tubs without referral code = 200 serves = 1g per serve = $53.97 shipped = $0.26 per gram BCAA
4 Tubs with referral code = $48.94 shipped = $0.24 per gram BCAA

Compare to a Scivation Extend 90 serve tub from the same site:

    1 x Tub = 90 serves = 7g per serve = $66.98 shipped = $66.90 shipped = $0.10 per gram BCAA
    1 x Tub with referral code = $56.98 shipped = $0.09 per gram BCAA

As I said, +1 for okay relative price and convenience, but I would sooner just chuck 1/2 serve of Xtend in my water bottle for less than 1/2 the price.

    • +2

Following on from that (not that I think anyone is following this thread anymore, but the Vitacost home brand seems pretty good bang for buck, for capsule form

      4 Tubs delivered = $0.05 per gram…

I'll spare you my referral code :)

You guys need to get onto the celltech!

  • How did you use the referral code for a BOGO 1/2 off?

    • BOGO is automatic, referral code is in cart, I don't see any clashes?

      • Just realised he purchased 4 so the discount would work. For coupons to work with BOGO the minimum purchase needs to be $30.00 (excluding BOGO discounted items).

        • You mean the minimum $30 for a $10 referral code? :P

        • +1

Yep, but the BOGO Half Price items don't count towards that $30, that's what I mean :)

        • You're right, just tested it haha

        • Yea had to purchase 4 for the $10 code to work, but the extra 2 only cost an additional $14 when you think about it. Thats only $7 each :P

  • How long do these guys take to deliver to Australia.

    • 2-3 weeks :)

    • In my experience it's always been 11 days from payment to your doorstep, I'm in Sydney though.
Might be a bit longer sometimes but that's my experience :p
