Was checking that, but I can't find it on Amazon anymore.
Edit: Got the link from a past purchase, but unavailable on Amazon.
yeah you're right, not showing on Amazon :(
How do they deliver in summer? Doesn't it melt?
If in Queensland, I think the odds are pretty bad
is that the lowest they have ever been ? or do they go half price occasionally as well ?
No where near the lowest they have ever been, chocolate has increased in price dramatically, but it's the lowest they go nowadays. No half price specials.
Not sad … ridiculous, actually.
The price of cocoa has definitely risen dramatically but the gouging price rises that we see now can't be put down just to the rise in cocoa price. Me smells opportunistic profiteering. Can't wait to see the price drop when cocoa prices return to somewhat lower levels. And oh look, there's a squadron of flying pigs!
I've been hitting up Aldi. They have a peanut butter variety which is good but $5.
@ajr5k: Cool I might give it a whirl. I love Whittakers but their peanut butter chocolate was crap - I ate a few lines before chucking it.
@Caped Baldy: Aldi chocolate has gone up a fair bit too. Used to be like $3.70 for a block of Moser Roth just recently. Now it's $5
@OzBarAnon: The actual impact of rising cocoa prices. And yet, the Big Two are trying to sell you a block of Cadbury Oily Sugar Block for $8 a pop.
@OzBarAnon: Yeah, Aldi is still cheaper than the alternatives and better quality imo. Agreed, it is annoying about the price increase but I still want my chocolate hahaha.
$5.31 if you have the Woolies 10% off monthly shop. That matches the May price at BigW (before they canned their 10% off)

Best bang for your buck in the chocolates world & the taste is amazement!
Much better than Lindt & Haighs IMO.
Much better than Lindt & Haighs IMO.
Really…
Yes, Whittaker's is solid
Better than Lindt without question. Haighs is close, but obviously more expensive
@FXx: The bigger the box and the smaller the chocolates in between, the better tasting right?….
RIGHT?? /s
Whittakers forever
@smartazz104 in response to your question… Yes.
Shame Woolies don't stock the Rum & Raisin variant. Big W does but they seem to only do 20% off.
Same for Berry Forest, my favourite but so hard to find!
Berry and biscuit is better, but not available in Australia. The Berry Forest has too much chewy gummies in it, gets stuck on the teeth and gums.
berry and biscuit sounds amazing… agree on the gummies in forest.
This is how cadbury used to be! So good!
agree. Modern Cadbury now gives me heartburn.
Good luck getting this anytime soon for $3, if ever.
I rarely pay more than $3 per block.
You haven't bought a block in 2 years have you…
Really?
Do tell, hasn't been $3 for 2 years.
Dollar cost averaging and five finger discount.
Check if the brand of choc you buying is Wonka or Whittakers
Even in NZ we paid $5-$6 a block…
Thank you.
Best chocolate, hands down!
YESSS!!!!
Hazella is 👌
Like Guylian but not shit lol
smaller size
Cadbury 180g ($2.22/100g) vs Whittaker's 250g ($2.36/100g)
but:
27% Cocoa Solids vs 33% Cocoa Solids
24% Milk powder vs 30% Milk Powder
55.8% Sugar vs 44.7% Sugar
(Comparison for plain milk choc flavour)
Cadbury is about 2-3% more expensive for the non plain choc flavours, which I prefer over Whittakers varieties
Here's a full comparison from ChatGPT (at this price, Whittaker' Dark Ghana 72% is the winner):

Godiva | Signature 72% | 90 | 9.50 | 106 | 148 |
Yeah but Cadbury, they aren't worth $2.
Gross.
I miss the dark mint chocolate …I have to order from NZ to get it
Try HAZELA variety.. its a game changer
Whatever happened to the Coconut x Mango variety….
Not enough interest and no longer bringing into Aus 😭
Yes, white chocolate is always a hard sell compared to milk and dark.
That's like 50 cents in today's dollars
The calc goes the other way, but yeah.
I was curious to do the maths on the cocoa shortage excuse.
Since 2021 the cocoa price has gone up 290%.
However, cocoa only makes up 33% of the block.
That means that $1.16 of the 2021 price was directly related to cocoa, and $2.34 was to everything else. If we inflate the cocoa portion by 290% we get a bar price of $5.7.
That means that the remainder of the bar has inflated about 2% per year, not too far off CPI.
As a certified Woolies/Coles/government inflation hater, I have to admit these pricings are fairer than I expected.
Yeah, nah. Not a single cruelty free variety 🤮

Yeah, nah yourself!
Ouch!
😁🎖️
Worth noting that their dark rum n raisin and dark almond are vegan tho.
OH LAWD PLEASE NOOOOO.
I quite like them. NO harm done I suppose.
Not really understanding this comment? You want dark chocolate that isn't vegan? Most dark chocolate is naturally vegan, as dark chocolate is traditionally made without milk.
Not true. It has to be up over 70% usually. Some of the really high rated dark chocolate from lindt for example still has some part dairy in it.
TLDR: Not all dark chocolate is vegan
@serpserpserp: Yes, thank you, this is what I meant. I was a bit sad to find out that it's 'vegan' but happy with the product because (if) it only means dairy free, then no love lost, it still tastes great.
Thanks for the post OP!
also Dairy Free tooo, i have to have those as Aussie storesdont sell the Dark Ghana peppermint blocks and soon either in New Zealand…
If it is vegan then it has to be dairy free :P
vegan sounds like some instagram person wanting attention that they are on some fancy diet, i can eat meat, i love duck fat, i love chicken, i love steak, i can eat gluten i just cant eat dairy so therefore i will always call it Dairy Free
so my folks went to NZ last week and was looking for the Dark Ghana peppermint blocks and was told its being discontinued… its the only one i love and now its going forever… damn them!
Yeah man, that stuff was delicious. If you have an IKEA near you, try their Fazermint brand. It is a pretty close replica
as long as its dairy free. which is why i alway had the ghana peppermint, also i contact Whittakers in NZ and asked why they are stopping the Ghana peppermint, turns out they arent, they found the making process had the goo falling out and causing issues with the equipment so they stopped it and fixing the issue and repairing it atm.
Remember when $5.90 was RRP or close to?
i buy magnum almond dairy free 3 pack ice cream blocks, they used to be a max of $6 around 2020, now its $10 and special on sale is $7… thats a clear example of inflation right there.
waiting for Amazon price match
