Seems to be a good option for casual Mac user. 16GB seems to last for a while.

Not when you consider the M4 MBA went for this price with the JB HiFi coupon + Ultimate 10%, and the M4 MBA standard sale price would be about $1380 nowadays. M3 MBA also went around this price if not even $850.
Is the M3 chip used in MBA same as the one in MBP? I have a MBP 14" with a M3 chip (the one that doesn't support more than 2 monitors). If they are same, what's the benefit of having a MBP like mine?
Thanks.No. There are M3 8/8 and 8/10 CPU/GPU configs. Aside from compute power, not much difference. Between MBA and MBP, it's just other things like display, fan vs fanless, thermal caps, etc. MBP definitely more performant. But MBA suffices for most. MBA actually supports up to 2 monitors if you close it lol.
Thanks. My MBP also supports 2 external monitors if I close the lid. I never heard the fan running, or felt the airflow from the vents. It also only has two USB-C ports. Next time, I'll opt for the MBA then.
m4 for 1k when? i never saw that deal otherwise i would have bought one
There's a healthy amount of exaggeration there but the deal itself was great. He is referring to this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/913997 which would be $1167.3 after the additional 10% with giftcards.
ahh i see, so more like 1300, how do them gift cards work was it a limited time offer?
@Roe Jogan: It happens every so often, take a look at this for previous sales https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/ultimate-gift-cards
so a targeted offer plus gift card when this is readily available. completely asinine comparison
completely asinine comparison
M2 MBA for $1000 is a bad deal.
Okay, how about countering with a better deal that's available now? Just polluting the thread with "This is a bad deal, m'kay?" comments does nothing to help the rest of OzBargain.
For quite a lot of people who do nothing other than send/receive email, write some documents, browse the web, and watch the odd video or two this is a perfectly acceptable laptop. Small, lightweight, good battery performance, and an interface that's heavily geared towards simplicity - what else is available at this price point that's as good or better?
Yeah not that great considering I just got an Macbook M3 Pro 14" for $1350 just last week. Refurbished off eBay but in pristine condition and like 40 cycles. I couldn't notice any wear. Could've gotten for less if I used gift cards but didn't wanna risk it and get left with $1k+ eBay balance.
i sold one M3 MacBook Air 16GB/512GB (3 months warranty + 13 battery cycles) on fb marketplace for $1,200 yesterday which I consider it as the market price.
What a rip for whoever bought it
I bought it for $1,035 from JB HI-FI, still have 11 months warranty but I didn't want to disclose that
cheeky
May I know if you bought another Macbook afterwards? Which model? At what price? Thanks in anticipation.
Great price!
When did you buy it from JB?
I was told usually month of March is the period where they can give better discounts due to slow sales.
I paid $1053 in July. Can't go wrong with this price. It'll last you for at least 5 years with care.
I had this level of ssd space in 2014. Crazy stuff
Yes I agree if you check the NAND flash price difference between 256G and 512G. Apple is badly greedy in forcing people to pay a lot more on storage.
Just got a M4 16/256 sky blue for $1k off FBM, 2 weeks old.
Scored.steal!
Past tense of that word.
Oh it's the Air, if this were the Pro I think it'd have a niche, going for an older Pro vs a more modern Air can make sense because of the fans.
Ignoring the better screen, usually larger battery size, and of course more ports, above all, Pro models having active cooling is probably the biggest reason I wouldn't go for an Air, as much as I really like a lot about them. Fans and the Pro motion screen, I think that's worth it for ~350g of weight, and its not just the sustained performance loads, but I'm more concerned about heating up the battery of all things. Anyway.
in our household we have the 2 extremes
I rock an MBP 16 (M1 Max) and I got the sleek M2 MBA 13 for my better half
MBA 13 is a superb device for a lady, it's so tiny and sleek and sexy
MBP 14 and MBA 15 are really hard to choose between as MBP 14 is awesome with better screen, speakers, ports, cooling, but MBA 15 has a screen that's less claustrophobic
and if you can carry around MBP 16 and have funds to get one, that's the winner overall.
I just can't go an m2 knowing ssd is significantly slower than the m1 ssd. Just out of principle. (profanity) apple for doing that.
not on the 16gb one right?
Why do i get 1044 (incl $10 shipping)
price has increased pon ebay…however i see it's 1004$(delivered on their direct website)
