  • Several months ago I was happy to have this, but more recently I would say hostelbookers.com is killing hostelworld.

The only example of where hostelworld has been cheaper was were there was a dorm room with a higher number of beds and subsequently a lower cost. But it was a small hostel so it wasn't possible to have the same dorm on hostelbookers.

    • Am on hols, passing through KL, so have been doing a bit of online booking. First place I tried was Coolangatta. (Early morning $99 Scoot flight after the surf.) Hostelbookers only offered 2 places & only 1 was available - the ancient YHA. The other one was available on HW. Hostelworld had more choices & at same price at those same places. In Malaysia I gave up on the few choices provided by Hostelbookers. Some great small places here exclusively use HW for all bookings - even if you walk in. Have happily used Hostelworld since 2005 (travelling cheap 9 months a year most years). Always find free discount codes online, so have not paid booking fee for years. • Not sure what makes you think that. Just did identical search for accommodation in Singapore for the same dates and Hostelworld came up with a few much cheaper options than the HostelBookers…

  • I used this last year while backpacking in Europe, saved about $2 in each hostel that I've booked in. Ended up saving around $50

  • I've found that hostelbookers and hostelworld will often vary in price for the same place and same room options for no particular reason. I've queried some hostels about it and some have mentioned the website automatically changing prices according to supply-demand, people manually changing prices but forgetting to change the other, or simply refusing to acknowledge there was in fact a price difference despite me showing it to them.

If you're looking for the best bargain on a place to stay, probably better to spend time searching on both anyway as some places don't list on both websites. I have found hostelbookers overall to be the cheaper option though, but not always.

  • Hostelworld was good when I travelled Europe. This is good.

  • +1

These are always going aren't they.
