    Mojo JoJo!

  • Any deals for existing customers?

  • -2

Why the half prices if they are the best value in the market?

    • -6

Our everyday plans are some of the best value in market.

We are offering $10-$5 off per month to attract new customers.

      • -7

Again to my original question, no deals for existing customers?

        • -4

          Just good value everyday?

Up to $15 off NBN plans from next month for existing customers.

          • +1

@Yomojo: Just a simple yes or no minus the fluff would be appreciated.

      • +2

        I'm paying $10 with Felix

  • -1

    Optus, no thanks

    • +2

Their coverage is very good , but that might not be your experience - user experience may vary !

  • +2

Don't forget cashback ($20-$40) with TCB or SB. I did mine with TCB on the previous deal and had it paid out after 45 days.

    • It says expo, is there a newer cashback offer?

      • +1

        Go to TCB. Same offer.

        • Found it, just waiting for someone to refer me.

  • Any data banking?

    • -2

Not on our prepaid plans, but our soon to be release postpaid plans do have data banking.

      • When are they released?

        • +3

I'll put a post up here as we will have a promo on them.

  • -1

    Looks like 4G ? In 2025 🤣

    • +2

A lot of "5G" plans are capped at 100Mbps….

      • Regardless that’s an entire signal band that’s unavailable to you. When you’re at a gig or the footy and you don’t have access to the newest network you’re far more likely to get congestion.

        4G only in 2025 IS a joke.

        • My Yomojo service often performs better in the Sydney CBD than my "uncapped" 5G Telstra service.

Anyway each to their own, the bucket load of customers who have signed up today appear to disagree with you.

          • @Yomojo: Network by network, location by location you will obviously have different experiences. I'd still prefer to have the 5G signal available rather than not have it available.

As for signups how you spend your marketing budget is your concern but expect the vast majority of these people to take the cashback and port out, this is ozbargain after all :)

        • Is there a 5G service at a comparable price that you can share?

          • @Trishool: MooseMobile as commented below.

Though personally as I am only using an average amount of mobile data I'd join Boost. Telstra coverage is the best in the country and I can afford to spend the ~$25 a month it costs.

  • Renews every 30 days, no data banking and speed capped, yeah pass, I’m living in 2025!

    • +5

Most Australian's don't actually use much data, our plans have been very popular.

The speed is faster than many other plans in market which limit services to 100Mbps.

      • +3

Yet the Telco's keep pushing the price up (not pointing the finger at Yomojo specifically) and try to placate us by adding an allocation of even more data they know most of us aren't going to use.

        • +2

The big three telcos plans start at a minimum of $50 a month.

Telstra MVNOs are pushing up their prices considerably at the moment.

We think our pricing here is very competitive.

          • -5

@Yomojo: Maybe your customers don’t use much data, but everyone I know and myself use at least 60+ a month.

Vodafone had $39 200GB the other week.

            • +1

@BatmanAU: It's not just Yomojo customers, it's Australians in general.

              https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/internet-activity-repor…

Look at page 5 of this report, the average pre-paid customer used 9.3GB in June 2024, the average postpaid customer used 17.4 GB in the same period.

              • -1

@Yomojo: I call BS on that, ACCC couldn’t collect data correctly if they tried

                • @BatmanAU: Mobile providers, and ISPs have to report this data quarterly…..

                  https://www.accc.gov.au/by-industry/telecommunications-and-i…

So that report is very accurate.

                  • -1

@Yomojo: Sorry, i would rather believe everyone i know with actual figures, than some random Government flogs writing what they want the average Joe to read. Oh wait, the Australian Government never LIE!

                    • +1

                      @BatmanAU: @BatmanAU you do you!

I like most others would side with the statistics of the ACCC, which pretty accurately reflect the usage of our own customers.

                      • @Yomojo: I am doing me, thats why i get a better price, speeds, more data and better data banking cap with another provider!

  • +7

    https://moosemobile.com.au/

Cheaper more data and data banking.

    • +1

      Speed limited to 100Mbps…

  • +4

Moose Mobile looks to be cheaper for the first 6 months - uses 4G / 5G as well.

    https://moosemobile.com.au/

    • +1

      This has cashback though

      • +2

And you can combine the cashback with referral credit too, potentially giving you months of free service.

    • Speed limited to 100Mbps with Moose on lower plans.

      • Lets see your Optus 4G speed test result offering you more than 100Mbps… And then look at how much data that speed test uses… It will be a large chunk of your monthly allowance in mere seconds…

Even on the 220GB plan you can use the entire allowance in less than 5 hours with a 100Mbps speed cap. Whats far more important is network reliability and congestion.

  • +1

Been using them since June, had to call their billing support once recently and I'm very impressed. Can chat directly with the CEO on whirlpool forum - literally give me no reason to look elsewhere.

    • Yeah I contacted their CS regarding changing plans and when/how you do it in the billing cycle, etc, and they were amazing. Quite possibly the best mobile CS I've dealt with.

      • +1

We have and continue to invest considerably in our customer service experience, happy customers = retention and referrals.

  • is this a sim card or e-sim?

    • Both are available

    • +1

      We have both options.

      • Ok great. I wanna churn from Kogan to yomojo on Tuesday as it’s my last day under Kogan yearly plan.

What is the process. Do I buy and activate / transfer in same transaction?
Or so I buy then activate e-sim to churn?

        • +1

You order a service, we then send you the details on how to start the port/activate the service.

It is not done from the order form, it is a two step process.

          • @Yomojo: So I can buy today and activate on Tuesday morning to port out of Kogan before COB?

            • @bashar20: Yes, for a port all customers initiate the start of the process.

              • @Yomojo: I activated esim today and churned from Kogan without issues. However my connection is 4G only and I am unable to connect to 5G despite full coverage.

  • Do you guys have options to connect smart watches to your numbers?

    • +1

No the only MVNOs who offer that right now are Tangerine telecom and Woolworths Mobile, both for an extra monthly cost. IMO most people carry their phone with/nearby them during the day so its not really worth it and it drains battery faster

    • Not yet sorry :(

  • OP/Rep, is there any restriction on this for customers who used to be with Yomojo on a promotion then left ported to a competitor for a while?

    • +1

No restrictions, we know some people port in and out of providers for deals.

      All good.

  • +2

Just signed up with TopCashBack & referral, will comment if something goes wrong or unexpected.

Gotta say, not a fan of the card fee, which makes the above advertised price incorrect. Can't wait for the Commonwealth to finally classify Debit under EFTPOS & Cash like they've been promising for nearly 2 years.

Edit: My TopCashBack has tracked already, +$30 instead of the expected +$20.

    • +1

Edit: My TopCashBack has tracked already, +$30 instead of the expected +$20.

      Ooh nice!

      • Update: It was retroactively changed to $20, even though it originally acknowledged the $13.90 charge.

    • +3

Gotta say, the app is surprisingly bad. I have to re-enter email/password + email code every time I open the app, the code doesn't send half the time and you can't even paste into the the verify screen.

I'm also not seeing the referral credit in the account, the app is extremely bare-bones.

      • +1

Referral credit usually shows up a bit later, after activation of the service IIRC.

        • +1

That was the same experience as I had

      • +3

        The app is absolutely awful.

We are launching a new one within the next week or two.

    • -1

We lose money on merchant fees.

We will have Payto available before the end of the year with 0%.

      • +2

Feel free to incorporate that into your advertised pricing like all other cost of business.

  • +1

Optus for same price as Telstra 5G? Pass

  • Just had a look on their website and it keeps freezing or not moving on the the next page. Put my name and details to join. And you get a page not found. You know you get what you pay for.

    • We have had no reports of this, and based on sign ups today, the multitude of new customers have not either.

      • -1

I can assure you that I did and it wouldn't work so you may be right you have not had know reports because the people who could not log in couldn't log in so never had a option to get help.
The only way I am reporting this is through a third party website.

  • +1

@Yomojo Do you offer Optus Number Share as an add-on?
    https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/number-share

    • As asked above, no we do not offer this at the moment.

      • Thanks, missed it from above.

  • What is the timeframe to activate the SIM after receiving it?

    • Best case a few minutes once you initiate the port.

  • Is anyone else sick of Telstra Mobile? Coverage and saturation are absolute garbage with Telstra. Optus would actually work better in a lot of the places I go. My town is absolutely loaded with Telstra deadspots, it's ridiculous. I was doing a Site Survey 1 KM from a Telstra Tower, building was facing down a bit of a hill and the Telstra coverage was virtually non-existent !!! I had to switch to my Optus SIM to upload my Survey Forms. It was literally that bad. Disgusting. Telstra is utter shite. Every time I go in a Shopping Centre or Bunnings and try to look something up quickly, nope! I'm sure Optus isn't anywhere near this bad. Even Vodafone was great in Capital Cities.

    • +1

Every network is different, all have pros and cons in certain areas.

      • True, it depends where you live. Where I live and go to, Telstra is the worst. But I've been to places where the speeds on Telstra were amazing.

  • Are you able to receive SMS messages for free while roaming?

    • +2

Yes, you just can't send them without a roaming package.

  • @Yomojo I hadn't got my hands on the SIM yet, when I received this message informing me that the number I was going to port would be auto-ported soon regardless of me activating.

This is very bad practice, both security wise and potentially causing significant disruption to the prospective customer.

This wasn't a $0 SIM, it required first month payment upfront, If the person doesn't activate they lose a months payment.

Just the other day, the ABC put out an article about the increased security risk of stolen/lost mail, someones phone/SIM should under no circumstances be automatically ported without explicit readiness by the individual.

This is an unacceptable practice, had the worst happened and you had ported my number without me being in possession of the SIM or unready, you would have been on the receiving end of a TIO case.

    • After connection:

      Pros

Fast port, referral credit applied within an hour of activation.

      Cons

Activated before I realised the SIM didn't come with an ejector, couldn't swap SIM's until I found makeshift to eject with.

      Additional payment fee.

Very low quality app, requires new login each time opening, with email code, pasting code breaks TOTP entry.

      TBD

Don't yet know how seamless a manual monthly payment will be.

      • A brand new Yomojo app will be released very shortly, it's in final testing.

        • @Jimbuscus, context would also help.

          How many bars of reception?
Where you downloading anything else at the time?

Based on 2 bars at home, using nothing else on the device, I got this: https://www.speedtest.net/result/i/6754968475

          • @Yomojo: Not downloading anything, not using hotspot during test, coverage map shows as fully available in area (West Melbourne).

That is a genuine result, today Opticomm was down for 7+ hours and this was my first instance of properly testing out the service cover, it likely means coverage in itself is bad for Optus in my respective area, but this is a real result in an advertised coverage area.

Note, it may also be the case that with a major Opticomm outage, there may have been a larger volume of usage in what may be an already poor signal area. Outside of speed testing, I was attempting to use this for my computer as a hotspot, across 7hrs I wasn't even able to use 500mb of my data. YouTube at 360p required long intervals of buffering.

            • @Jimbuscus: Thank you for the added context, it could explain the poor result.
