Discounts before they even come out

    • +5

May be they care their members

    • +6

Take a hit, make it all back on the other random impulse buys while customer is out there

      • +1

Yeah 100% I wish they could do big Samsung discounts

        • +1

I’m just there for the cafe pizza and mango ice drinks tbh

        • Everywhere had insane preorder discounts when the Z Fold 7 launched. I think there was even a code for free or heavily discounted Buds going around at the time. What you are wishing for already exists. Source: I preordered my Z Fold 7 heavily discounted.

    • -1

Fake discounts. I'm not interested in the buds. The watch is more interesting because they have augmented actions now

    • -4

      Fake discount on inflated prices

  • -2

Note: does not come with a usb c charging cable in the box
    https://9to5mac.com/2025/09/10/airpods-pro-3-dont-include-a-…

    • +17

2025 and not a deal breaker anymore. You can buy 5$ for Two.

    • +7

Next year you'll need to buy a charging case separately.

      • +5

The year after they exclude the box.

        • +6

And the year after that each ear tip will come in their own individual box so you have to buy the right size outright.

    • +3

Just reverse charge it on your iPhone™️ 17 Pro

    • +12

Thats annoying. I wanted to add it to my drawer of unused USB-C cables

      • +1

        The pile must growwwwww

        • +2

Its making it difficult to find a Micro USB in that drawer. No chance finding a Mini USB

    • Apple: and we think you’ll love it

    • I actually had to check what connector my APP2 case had on it when the discussion about lightning vs USB-C came up after the announcement yesterday. 3 in 1 wireless chargers on the bedside table and desk have meant I never even need to consider plugging them in.

  • +6

Damn, I remember getting my AirPods Pro 2 for $319 on release from Amazon
Tempting to upgrade to these but the price increase hurts.

    • +3

Hopefully Amazon do something similar to this in the next week or so!

      • -3

        Prime day

        • +4

You're more than welcome to wait it out for 10 months if that's what floats your boat.

          • @KangaDrew: It and eBay usually do something in the lead up to Black Friday.

            • @entropysbane: The comment I was replying to was in relation to Prine Day, which is Amazon only and held in July each year.

    • +5

      Glorious day. Used everyday since.

    • +5

Prices for everything hurt these days

      • -1

Apple led the charge on that well before COVID happened

    • Epic deal.

    • There are ways to mitigate some of these price increases, EDR and Flybuys 20x happen quite often for apple gift cards. and if you can plan around an OS trip or know someone who is there is TRS as well.

    • -2

Your AirPods Pro 2 had heart rate sensors?

  • +3

Anyone else can't stand the ear plug style? I got the Airpod 4 ANC because of the older shape to them and that they do not have the damn plugs

    • +1

100%. I did the same after my pro 2 went into the washing machine. I prefer Airpod 4 ANC, but pity it’s not as good at NC as the pros.

    • Yeah fr

    • I used to - felt like my ears were being violated each type I used earbuds.. but the Pros were comfy and sometimes I forget I still have them in there. Can't go without them now.

    • Yep, same

    • +1

I never liked earbuds, they always fell out. But I like AirPod Pro, they never fall out. I think because they are so light. The weight of the cable on old fashioned buds was what was yanking them out.

    • +1

the normal airpod keeps sliding out in my ear so I prefer the silicon tip.

  • +1

Would the iPhone 17 Pro max also be discounted for preorder?

    • +2

HODL and you will get even more discounted iPhone 17's in due course. Ordering now is to cater to the FOMO crowd.

Unless you need a phone now because yours is about to break.

      • 8-10 months?

        • +11

Even cheaper in 8-10 years. HODL

        • Depends if and when there are gift card deals and pay with discounted gift cards. One of the best discount you can get.

    • Asking as I’m planning to preorder through a plan but if Costco is discounting these from preorders , I might get it there. And how much?

    • +18

Price and Value are 2 different things, You can always get $4 Reject shop earphones. just because you dont see the value , it means this product is not for you. For those who use these every day in a variety of settings , the value proposition is reasonable. Is it cheap ? No, is it Valuable ? to many people it is.

      • Indeed. It’s called utility in economic terms.

    • +4

What a use of NEGATIVE. Jesus, are you also complaining $100k for a car? or $2M for a 1BR apartment?

        • Our personal thoughts are irrelevant.

Having a list of what we will revoke, is for the sake of consistency. You are asking us to be inconsistent and make personal calls by revoking negative votes for other reasons, which are deemed inappropriate, based on feelings, which leads to inconsistency.

          Inappropriate uses of negative vote

Any negative vote that falls into the following reasons will be deemed invalid and revoked by a moderator. Negative votes for other reasons will not be removed.

That is up to the community to dictate, which is what happened.

          When negative votes are revoked:
The user community casts a number of negative comment votes to any comment by the user casting the deal votes.

      R U OK?

  • Just ordered but already having second thoughts if it would be cheaper in-store. I've sent an enquiry to Costco via their bot to find out more.

What I have seen historically is that the Costco pre-order price ends up
    1. being either equal or less than you can buy from any other store including Apple Education
    2. the pre-order price is often not immediately repeated ie. it's a quick one-off

So I presume even if it was cheaper in-store you'd have to rely on them having stock at this initial launch price. Anyhow, will find out!

    • Interested to know if this price factors in delivery (which some of their online pricing does).

      • Yes the $389.99 includes delivery.

        • Thanks, I was more of the thinking, is it cheaper to pickup instore if you forgo delivery?

          • +1

            @rysith:

having second thoughts if it would be cheaper in-store. I've sent an enquiry to Costco via their bot to find out more.

          • @rysith: Yeah this is what I’m contemplating; but also don’t want to risk it if the offer is only for pre order?

    • You can buy AirPods via the Education store now? Every time I've looked (including just now) it flips you back over the main AU store.

      • +1

Yes but the price is not discounted on Apple Education unfortunately. Nor is it discounted for Enterprise ERP (corporate discount) and Education Union ERP too (usually the cheapest of anything). So Costco is the first 'deal' we are seeing.

    • ikr, very confusing

    • -4

Straya tax + tariffs = screwed as usual

    • +13

You're paying $15.25 extra in Australia after currency conversion and GST.

      • +2

For it to be sent to the other side of the planet haha

        • +6

Pretty sure they're coming direct from China which is closer but I get what you're saying

        • +2

For it to be sent to the other side of the planet

Australian ones will come from Vietnam, they aren't going to send them to US first then to AU.

      • $15.25 extra in Australia after currency conversion and GST.

Probably fairer to compare with ex-GST AU$390, as US has state sales tax too depending on the shipping address.

        But $10-15 dearer in Australia.

    • +2

      you math ?

    • +5

      $249 USD = $376.56 AUD

Factor in ADDITIONAL costs such as the additional year in warranty and GST (in the US taxes are not included in sale prices) - its about the same

  • -7

Never woulda guessed a time when earphones would cost as much as the phone.

    • +3

Which phone? Doesn’t it start at $1400?

      • -1

I've never paid more than $530 for a phone..

Still believing everyone else spending $1k+ is doing it wrong

Comparatively I've spent $860 on just one pair of headphones (and $150 on replacement cables) however unlike a phone I'm still using them 10 years later…

My partner is now on her third set of pro 2s… Just as expensive.

    • +4

There have always been expensive earphones, maybe you just didn't pay attention?

      • -2

A refurbed 11,12,13 can be in the price range of these headphones. It's still a ridiculous price but I can see how hypnotize people are to the marketing, buying more Apple stocks…

        • The way your brain works is fascinating

        • You know headphones existed before Apple, also headphones have nothing to do with Apple, there are some made by Apple yes, most are not. And many are far more expensive.

Anyway, go on aliexpress and you can find your next phone and earbuds there.

  • +2

I will wait to see some review videos, need a pair of earbuds that has good call quality.

    • +1

I can pretty much say you’ll be fine - my Pro 1 and 2 ones never had a complaint.

The background noise cancelling for other parties is eerie it’s so good. General noise cancelling also better than Sony XM3(??) headphones!

  • Tempted to upgrade from the pro 2s but i'm really happy with them currently and I already got an apple watch for heart rate tracking, and APP2 still gets the new translation feature. Only thing i'd be upgrading for is slightly better audio and better ANC which might even be achievable on mine by just replacing the tips…

    • same.. im sure the sound is better, but not sure my older ears would even notice

    • what would replacing the tips achieve? unless theyre split or something, nothing will change.
if you want better ANC, your best bet is to clean the grills on the exterior of the airpods. apple has a video on their website about how to do this.

    • Dave2D just did a quick impression on them. The ANC is noted to be almost twice as good from the already insane pro 2. Also uses a new tip that for a different fit if either of that appeals to you

    • +1

Your current apple products are doing just fine. I promise you won't get shunned by your friends/family for not having the latest tech.

    • +1

Change of mind for phones are 90 days, unless major issues
      https://www.costco.com.au/member-care/refunds-and-return/wha…

        • +2

And a change of mind refers to an unused/unopened product. You can't use a product for a year then decide it isn't the right product for you.

    • costco store owners hate this 1 simple trick!

  • Pretty good Ultra 3 is already $100 off, but probably not enough to entice upgrade from Ultra 2.

Wilderness enthusiasts would appreciate satellite SOS.

  • Knew it wasn't worth the price increase. Glad to have gotten pro 2s for my partner at $250.

  • Kind reminder: this is likely to be the easiest/most stolen item.

    • +2

Really? I would have thought they would be less of a target because they're usually in a person's pockets and locked down to an apple account.

      • Exactly. You can track with Find My both the AirPods case as well as the individual AirPods buds themselves. And in AirPods Pro 3 the tracking range and fidelity is increased.

So a kind reminder: even if it is the easiest/most stolen item because of the way users leave them around or handle them, the in-built tracking makes it a dream to find.

  • Careful some crooks sell fake ones on Facebook marketplace. I fell a victim for the pro 2. The receipt, the quality of the pods all checked out, I punched the serial in and it showed 3 years apple care plan. A few months in and it all unraveled. I had to get ear treatment and throw it away.

    • +1

what did the airpods do to your ear?
