Wonder if there's ever going to be a 2000/100 plan from opticomm :sad

    • +16

Based on the Opticomm Facebook customers page I think most customers would just enjoy the system staying online more than a day with any speed and for Opticomm to actually do the support vs being stuck going via ISPs

      • +3

Opticomm has their issues, but funnily enough I've experienced much better stability on Leaptel vs Superloop.

Superloop only supports PPPoE on Opticomm, my experience with that was terrible due to timeouts with their auth server. Leaptel offers DHCP which at least removes one potential issue.

        • My only problem with IPOE (DHCP) with Opticomm is that the IPv6 does not work due to old equipment on the Opticomm network.

        • Same, always had better stability, support and evening speeds with Leaptel over Superloop.
It's too bad Opticomm only have a few competitive ISPs in comparison to NBN so inevitably have to swap back to Superloop for their deals.

        • I'm with Exetel and have no issues with PPPOE? In saying that, this deal is only $4/month more than what I'm paying 100/40 for.

    • 2000/100 is on the OptiComm website but I'm not sure if it's available.

      • +1

I've rented a couple of houses with opticomm in SA, they both had NTD's with only gigabit ports so may not be viable for a lot of opticomm properties without an NTD upgrade.

I think I've been lucky in that both houses were in areas that werent saturated with people aware of opticomm's existence, so I've been getting 288mbps on a 250mbps plan.

    • The wholesale price list has 2gig and 3gig listed…so will be on rsp to offer…saw it few months back

      • apparently no rsp wants to offer it

        • +2

          I have 1000/50

          Speedtest: 950/45

Opening a website: Maybe, if you're lucky.

Actual utilisation: 20-30 Mbps with multiple teams calls, 4k streaming all at the same time.

Real world requirement: 50/20 that ACTUALLY WORKS

    • +1

My Opticomm ONT only has 1G ports. So 2000/100 may not be possible unless they also upgrade their ONTs

  • +1

Previously you have to be away for 12 months to be considered a new customer.

Wonder if that's still the case. I went from Superloop to Exetel and looking to move again in about 1.5 months when my current 6 month discount expires.

    • I went away for 8 months and they just gave me the discounts

      • Nice, thanks for the confirmation. I'll give it a go 🤞

    • How do you move without downtime? I’m also looking to move.. superloop has to cancel 1 month in advance right? And then did you request the new connection date to be H-1 the disconnection date from superloop?

      • +1

You're better off having some overlap of a few days than risking disconnection by trying to time it perfectly, that's what I do.

        • Last time I switched from Superloop to Origin, I scheduled Superloop’s disconnection and Origin’s activation on the same day. But on that day, Origin kept saying it couldn’t activate because there was already another line at my property. I ended up having to call Superloop to cancel immediately, then ask Origin to try activating again. At that point, Origin told me that since they had previously detected another line, I now had to provide proof of property ownership. The whole process was a mess, so now I always set the new service activation date to be d+1 the cancellation date.

  • +2

My current provider requires a 30-day cancellation notice. What’s the best process to follow in order to cancel and transition to the new service without any disruption?

    • +3

Generally you can notify your current ISP that you are leaving and cancelling with 30 days notice, keeping the service active for the 30 days, time the commissioning of the new service to coincide the same day or the day before, to minimise how long you're paying for both services, as well as making sure you have an active service at all times.

Only issue to be aware of, not sure Exetel allow you to specify a future date for starting their new One Plan, it will be commissioned immediately.

    • +3

Are you with Exetel? You can say you're moving to Superloop and they will waive off the 30 day cancellation notice. They did with mine.

      • I am with uniti wireless opticomm.

      • Tried asking last time but the agent mentioned I have to serve the notice period - Will try with another agent. Also, will the invoice be prorated or will they still charge me for the entire month? Makes sense to cancel it when the plan renews in that case

  • +6

Sharing my bad experience from Superloop customer support here

    • +6

Superloop CS are horrendous! I mean, sure, their infrastructure is great, but should you have any issue outside of a billing enquiry, you're in a never ending spiral of frustration for hours (if not days) that you'll never claw back.

      • +1

Outside of needing any technical support though, absolutely phenomenal uptime, performance, routing and bang for buck. Think one of the best in Australia.

      • +1

Yeah these guys are worse than Optus by a long way….awful.

  • +1

I was with ABB a few years ago and had no issues. I switched to Superloop afterwards because of a good deal, had drop-outs and variable performance, which was really annoying for gaming. This is in Victoria 3165. Switched to buddy and had no issues since. YMMV.

    • +3

I've had no problems with Superloop and Aussie BB nbn FTTP.

    • I have same drops out issue almost every 2-3 hours and so frustrating. They keep saying it is my device issue and I even purchased a new one and nothing had improved. When I want to cancel, they still required 30 days cancellation notice and I have to stick to this horrible network for another month!

  • Can one opt out of CGNAT without charge, or does it need a static IP and what's the cost?

    • +3

OptiComm: $5/month for a Static IP to turn off CG-NAT.

      • +2

        Thanks!

    • +2

You can opt out CGNAT without having static IP for NBN only. For opticomm, a static IP is required to opt out CGNAT.

      • Thanks.

  • +1

    Static IP is $5

  • -5

exetel is $80/m ongoing for 1000/100. why go with opticomm?

    • +5

That is nbn FTTP 500/50 $80/m ongoing ($1/day extra for 1000/100) @ Exetel and is not available on OptiComm.

This Superloop deal is for homes in OptiComm FTTP estates.

    • +3

Opticomm is the fibre supplier like nbn.

    • +5

You don't usually have a choice; it's either NBN or Opticomm.

    • I don't have a choice, can only go with opticomm in our entire building.

  • -2

Thought Opticomm would have Exetel, they have a large range of providers but not like NBN

    • +1

Exetel used to sell OptiComm plans. New Exetel signups are nbn only.

    • After Exetel got acquired they stopped providing Opticomm plans and redirect to Superloop now.

  • Anyone moved from superloop or Aussie to tangerine and their connection experience?
I moved and speed test says good connection, but I get more disconnections ( few seconds) with tangerine compared to Aussie.

  • +1

I would expect to see more Opticom plans from other RSPs shortly I hope for the new speeds.

    • Leaptel has the new OptiComm speeds however it costs more. No details from Aussie BB and Launtel about new OptiComm speeds.

      • Opticom plans generally do cost more from the smaller RSPs too. I guess we will find out shortly!

  • I cannot upgrade to the 500/50 plan from 100/40 from my account. It seems like same price for my legacy pricing of $95/m.

Is the 500/50 really a new Opticomm plan or wrongly listed?

    • +1

New OptiComm plans. Give Superloop a call.

  • I hope they have something in mind for the ppl like me stuck on FW because rural, 90 bucks a month for 250/20 while the rest gets at least double. I will ring monday and talk to 5 operators that can't understand my accent, while I struggle to understand their accent over a crackly and muffled line, explaining to all of them the same thing over and over until someone can finally give me an answer.. service it really is atrocious indeed, the stability and consistency of speed makes it up for it tho. Be nice at least to get a tiny discount if nothing is planned for FW. Will see

    • nbn Fixed Wireless speeds are not changing from 250/20 and 400/40.

Leaptel has nbn Fixed Wireless 250/20 $79.95/month for 12 months and local tech support. 400/40 may be available for $89.95/month for 12 months.

      • I have 4 sims with SL (that gives some discount on the internet plan), be a pain to move over leaptel.. might consider tho if SL gives me the shits lol

  • 1000/100 $85/Month

Well, it's cheaper than the last black Friday deal that they said the best deal of the deals which was soft of a lie lol. I guess we existing customers can ask them to extend for another 6 months or churn?

    • +1

It was the best deal at the time. Ask for another 6 months. I haven't found any other OptiComm 1000/100 deals.

  • -2

Tangerine are offering 500/50 for $68.90 for the first 6 months

    • +1

That Tangerine nbn FTTP deal is not available on OptiComm FTTP.

    • +2

That's for NBN. Opticomm is different.

  • I'm currently with LEAPTEL Opticomm on a 50/20 plan for $83 but our modem is only capable of 100mbps internet speed. Is it worth getting the Eero7 modem for $160+20ph and going up to 500/20 on leaptel for $11 extra, or switch over to this after getting the modem from leaptel?

    • Get the eero 7 router for OptiComm 500/50 @ Leaptel.

  • Wtf im with superloop opticomm and paying $109 for 250mbps. I'm willing to pay an extra $4 for the 1000/100mbps but I can't see it in my "Change Plan" page and I can see on the website that my address order the 1000/100 plan. Do i need to call them up or something?

    • Give Superloop a call.

      • Yep just searched and it looks like im getting upgraded to 750/50 plan on Sep 15. I'll prob call to upgrade to 1000 if it doesnt get added in my portal hub since its not much

        • nbn are doing automatic FTTP and HFC speed upgrades.

I haven't seen anything about OptiComm automatic upgrades.

        • Where do you see that? It's probably for NBN only not Opticomm.

  • +5

Finally, an Opticomm deal - I really liked Opticomm previously, but these NBN upgrades, and recent price hikes have been a little wild (plus many estates are cutting free to air next month which isn't highly advertised) - and leaving me feeling we're getting a worse off deal than NBN.
    https://www.opticomm.com.au/support/fta-faqs/
This is about as good a deal as any I've seen in recent times for Opticomm. (doesn't beat my almost 2 years on $45/month for 100/20 when Uniti bought over Fuzenet; and stacked 2 recurring discounts over each other). They scrapped all accounts paying below retail (mine included) 2 months back, and ABB was a nice $1 for 30 days to tide over to this deal. Was switching in next 2-3 days anyway; this speed boost for an Opticomm plan - is icing on top!
    Thanks!

  • I’m moving soon and got forced onto Opticomm, no NBN… Chose Leaptel as they had a $15 off for 6 months deal for $79… no idea who is better … like an Aussie call centre

    • +1

Both have a good network. Leaptel has local tech support.

      • +1

Thank you!!!! I was very nervous.. been with tpg for like 20 years… I felt naked being forced to Opticomm

    • So leaptel is forcing opticomm on existing customers?
I'm on the same plan and unsure what of any difference there will be…

      • No, I’m moving into a new complex which is Opticomm only. I can use whichever Opticomm service provider I want. Was currently on NBN in current address.

  • I am with superloop on 100/20 already and have a static IP that they threw in when I signed up, and was hoping to keep it with an upgrade to 500/50 or 1000/50
Does anyone know if Opticomm will be giving everyone already on 100+ Mbps a speed upgrade similar to the NBN upgrades?

    • +1

I haven't seen anything about OptiComm automatic upgrades.

      • +1

        Thanks.

  • I'm on 1000/50. Just rung to get the 100 upload (could absolutely use it for work): "it's for new customers only".
Refused to put me through to sales, refused to put me through to complaints.

    Useless.
And on 1000, i am only getting 483 max.

    • 483Mbps may be a router problem.

      1. Is that a wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi speed?
      2. What is the brand and model number of your router?
      3. Have you tried changing to 1000/100 on the Superloop app/website?
  • Now we wait for Uniti to match the price.

  • Currently on EXetel 100/20 for $90 a month in an Opticomm area. This is enough to push me to a Superloop 500/40 for $95/month ($75 for the first 6 months - which effectively keeps me at the same price for two years). Given that Superloop acquired exetel, I presume this will be a real easy transition.

  • I recently joined Superloop 1000/50 plan for $85/month. I wonder if they will increase the upload speed to 100mbps since they no longer list 1000/50 plan on their website.

  • Anyone had any luck with upgrading the existing plan? I contacted support and they say its for new customers only

  • Does cashback still track via TopCashback Australia and get paid out.
Says only for NBN plans and not sure if OptiComm falls within that.
Any one had any luck with tracking with either TopCashback or Shopback

    • OptiComm is usually excluded from cashback.

      • How about shopback? no mention on their website and actually takes you Econnex Comparison website and not offical Superloop website. Anyone had any luck getting cashback from this deal?

        • I don't know. Ask Econnex.

        • +1

Signed up and tracked - but to be seen if it goes through; $40 is $40
          Confirmation is 09 Jan 2026

        • +1

Looks like TCB Au has $70 on "Broadband" services for Econnex, and the Opticomm plans pop up on that search.

          • @ol mate: Thanks for mentioning this. I did just this after reading your comment.

  • +1

Just got activated today and now connected. Speedtest.net shows 540 down and 53 up. Don't know why they previously told me to sign up or connect on Monday as the sales guy last night said good to go once I call up to activate and just have your modem ready, get PPPoE user/pass email and off to the races.

    So far, so good
    👍

    • -1

Interesting; I just got connected on 500/50 and doing 100/100 (was 100/20); checked on both speedtest and internal Unifi DreamMachine speed test (both showing as Exetel - which makes sense; parent company).
I'll give them a call Monday; the extra 400mbps would be awesome but not as noticeable as the upload boost!
Think officially NBN (though separate of course) upgrade is 14 Sept? Giving them the benefit of having a small grace period to move it up for Opticomm!

      • +1

I would call Tech Support to find out if they have provisioned or activated the 500/500 plan.

You may need to power off your modem, enter in PPPoE user/password they send you and it should likely kick in if its been provisioned.

Again, best to call while the hours and still early, imo. Good luck with that!

        • +1

Builder put Cat6 in walls as requested. I put a few Cat6 in the walls myself as well. Turns out a Cat5e was left by builder connecting the Opticomm box 😂 New patch cable and getting 550/200 which is way above for upload.
          Happy days!

  • So I'm guessing that Exetel won't be doing the boosted speed plans? I've been pretty happy with them, but looks like it just makes sense to switch to Superloop.

    • Change to Superloop for these new OptiComm plans.

  • I just signed up with Leaptel opticomm last Saturday and the switch over from iPrimus was done in less than 30mins . The promotional price is $84.95 for six months and they allow you to opt out of cgnat by logging into member portal and connection type can be ipoe instead of pppoe.

I wonder if it is worth switching over to Superloop?

    • Yes, but Superloop costs $5 for the static IP to opt out of CG-NAT. So $5 cheaper now but more expensive than Leaptel in 6 months when the promo price ends.

  • is coming from Origin Broadband (Superloop) to Superloop considered as 'new' customer?

    • If you have been away from Superloop for 12 months or not connected at all with them, yes, you would be considered a new customer! :)
