  • I can't remember, do these Perks codes usually work on a price-matched cart from customer service? I'd try it myself, but minehasn't come through yet.

    • Nah, price matched they send you a pre-filled cart which is kind of like a unique code for that price match, if I remember correctly. So I don't think you can stack.

      • Just haggle the price instore

        • I think Perks coupons only work on ticketed price but not negotiated price, tried it when they had the gift card to price match and then have the perks discount, wouldn't work.

    • Who are you price matching it with? I assume this is the lowest priced C8K in the market right now.

      • +1

Ah sorry, just a general question, not for the TCL in particular.
Thanks to everyone who answered :)

    • +1

Just tried. Got it price matched for $2990, but the perks doesn't stack on the deal link they give you:
      https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/85c8k-tcl-85-inch-premiu…

Was $2889 delivered with my jbhifi perks instead.

    Go Brisbane!
    Best of luck OP.

  • Getting the 75 i think 85 might be too big i was waiting for it to drop too

    • It'd be too big for a month or so, then it'll start looking normal and all your friends 75's will make you squint to watch.

      • God, this is accurate.

        I went from a 55" to a 85"

        Going backwards seems otherworldly.

    • Yeah I have the 85C855 coming from a 46inch. Now I want a 98 inch

With 4% off giftcards, this comes to $2688. Not bad! I think I'm going to bite.

    • +1

      Where is 4% off?

      • I get it through work.

        • Fair enough nib gives 3.5% but could take up to 72 hours is that just to cover their ass?
It should come pretty instant am i right

          • @blitzn: I get them through FLARE and they come instantly.

      • +1

        Macquarie bank has it.

My experience with JB Hifi for every TV over 50 inches: Sorry, there is no stock within 200km of your store.

  • It appears you can get extra $500 off if purchase TCL Q85H soundbar in same transsction.

Have someone tried to return soundbar after getting TV? Did they receive full refund for soundbar?

    • Thats a good question
Im going to guess they wont refund the full value but who knows

    • +3

  • I'm looking for a 65" TV - is the 65" of this model, the C8K, a good choice as well?

    • +1

C8k is a highly regarded tv best bang for buck tv.

      • thanks! anyone know if the TCL Q85H Pro soundbar is worth getting as well?

        • We got the soundbar together with the TV. The soundbar had problems and we returned it and got another brand. It had hissing and crackling sound when paired with the tv. Not sure why. Rang TCL but they too not sure why and in the end asked us to return it.

    • Definitely. I have the 65" C855 (last years model) and it's a great TV.

    • I got the C7k, a step down. Comparing at the store they have (mostly) the same features, the only main difference is brightness. Our media room is quite dark so the C7k is fine. If you have a brighter room then C8k is best bang for buck TV around.

  • I have LG OLED C4 in bedroom but I use it with light on and dont like the brigtness.

Would this TV be better from brightness perspective?

    • Should be, LED panels generally achieve a higher peak brightness than OLED.

    • +1

You want an 85" TV in the bedroom? Yikes.

      • 65 inch

    • +1

The mini led would be better brightness wise, but the c4 is definitely a better TV as oled is generally a better technology.

You'd be better off having bedside lamps than downgrading the TV just so it can look better in a bright room.

    • -3

Motion and blooming will be very bad on this TV vs your OLED which has instant pixel response time and having infinite contrast at pixel level. But if you don't put this TV side by side with your OLED, it won't look too bad.

      • +1

Sorry, but you're actually quite incorrect in regards to this particular model and size of TV.
The blooming won't be much of a problem at all as this size and model has 2,880 local dimming zones which are meant to directly counteract the problem of blooming.
It also means it will be far brighter in his setting than any current OLED on the market can be, the 144 HZ response time also means that motion is better than other TVs in this class type.

I have a Sony 75 inch X90L, which is an excellent TV, however, the 65-in TCL 855 that I purchased for my mother has more vibrant colours far less blooming and faster gaming response than my TV does, it's not quite as good in motion processing, but Sony pretty much leads the field. All I can say is that bang for buck these TVs are excellent, probably best on market for price/quality.

        • -3

Like I said, don't put it side by side with an OLED and it won't look bad.

  • Prices for the C8K currently seem to be the same as the C7K. It makes getting the C8K a no-brainer!

  • I'm a Perks member but don't have a coupon smh…

    • Same

    • Also same, nothing in my account.

  • +1

If you've ordered this please let us know how the motion handling is once you receive it, the C7K apparently has poor motion handling.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Hisense 85U8QAU?

I been looking at the 75” model it was about $1000 cheaper last week, hoping it goes on sale again around this price by BF sales.

  • HODL for Black Friday? Or anyone reckons this will be the lowest price for a while?

  • How does this compare to the LG 86 Inch NANO80 AI LED UHD 4K Smart TV from Costco for $1880? Which would be a better buy? Throwing this out to my smarter fellow ozbargainers

  • 75" C8K $2120 or 77" S85F $2571 or 77" S90F $3113? Is it worth spending more for WOLED?

    • -4

The OLED will be 10x better then a LED TV when playing uncompressed 4K media from Blurays. 2x better then LED TV's when streaming 4K from decent sources eg. Netflix/Disney. Around the same as an LED TV when watching low quality sources like free to Air TV, torrented sub 20GB media downloads.

      • Would be playing Youtube and Stremio RD content, so it sounds like the C8K will suffice for my needs, but the S85F/S90F is so tempting when the OLED prices have come down significantly and are within reach..

      • +2

Can you supply some statistical evidence of "will be 10x" or "2x better"?

        Here are some facts:
        1. OLED still has issues with burn-in
        2. There's no such thing as an uncompressed 4K BluRay. They will all be h265 - which is compressed. Streaming content is more greatly compressed, yes, but both are actually compressed.
        3. The inky blacks of OLED can be more closely replicated by MiniLED than by LED due to the greater amount of dimming zones.
        4. MiniLED is brighter than OLED

        Final fact
Rtings.com will give better insight on which TV is better suited to a consumer's needs than the comments on ozbargain

        • 10 times or 2 times?

    • Where did you get $3113 for the 77” S90F? Seems like a S85F price instead. Other major retailers are selling at over $4600 before codes.

Going back to this topic OLED is better but maybe not worth over 50% price difference.

      • $3599 - $150 trade up - 5% first purchase - 5% voucher on Samsung Gov Portal

  • FYI Appliance Central has it at $2880, free delivery to select cities: https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/85c8k-tcl-85-inch-premiu…

Good option if you can't get the gift card discounts/delivery too expensive

  • Does someone know by experience if 65" can fit in the boot of a Kia Sorento or Mazda cx9. Thx

    • +1

Measure the width of your boot opening and check dimensions of box.
Every box has a different opening width
My cx60 is 110 width but doesnt fit the 75 box as its 117 so it will be a squeeze rather pay delivery

      • Thx will do that also I guess you have to get TV in upright position and laid on its back so that makes it tricky

  • +1

We got the 65 inches C8K in July together with their soundbar Q85H PRO. While the TV is VERY good, we returned the soundbar bar because it’s making a hissing and crackling sound. We rang TCL as it’s under warranty, they asked for videos, sound clips etc and we did it. Eventually they themselves asked to return it and exchange it for a new one. We didn’t get the TCL one again but got the Samsung 990F instead (topped up the price of course). Paired it with the C8K and it sooo much better! But yes,’TV is SO good that I dare say it’s even better than the big players out there. I highly recommend it. Especially this model.

  • +2

Thats a really good price, especially if you use with gift cards from Woolies giving you 20X reward points (2000 points = $10). I have 85" version of this TV in a bright room and highly recommend it.

    • So that'll be $280 credit to spend in Woolworths if I'm right. Does JB has any limits on how many gift card you could use ?

      • Nope. I used 32 cards of $100 each.

  • Price for the 65 C7K has jumped up from $13xx to $16xx!! when saw it last night

  • Bloody JB cancelled my order. Will have to call them later today.

  • For anyone wondering this tv is fantastic. House mate got the 65 and picture is superb for the price.

  • Can anyone recommend a good wall mount bracket for this?

  • +2

Was gonna post but OP beat me to it.

For this wondering, I have been tracking the 85C8K since April after missing out on the 85C855 last year for Black Friday.

This is an All Time Low for it @ $2800.

I have bitten the bullet and ordered yesterday. Delivery tomorrow.

This is the best bang for buck TV out there on the market.

    • Absolutely agree.

Best bang for buck TV on the market.

    • I am upgrading from a LG 65 C8 oled. I don't know if i should pull the trigger on this, the extra 20 inches is great but I'm worried about blooming, I was more curious about the TCL x11 but now I'm intrigued by the c8k because of the price

      • -1

I always say, as long as you never put an OLED TV next to a Mini Led TV then you won't notice the huge difference in picture quality especially with infinite contrast on OLED's and vastly faster almost instant pixel response times of OLED's. Keep both TV's in separate rooms so your brain can't totally compare the picture quality of each and you won't feel buyers remorse.

      • I went from an LG B8 65” to a TCL C7K 75” (the model below this) and was super worried about the PQ…I’m honestly super happy. I really haven’t noticed any blooming and I’m super critical. There will be some edge cases where things aren’t are as good, and they’ll never get as inky, but unless they’re side by side you likely won’t notice. The bigger screen and daytime brightness was well worth it for me.

    • As someone who is tracking the price calling it best bang for buck, do you have an idea on how it compares to the Hisense 75U8QAU?

85 is too big for my space and I do not have space for a sound bar so hoping the speaker inside the 8 series will be ample (not my primary TV)?

      • I can't comment on the comparison in terms of picture quality.
But the plus side for me is Google TV. Have never been a fan of Hisense VIDAA OS.

From a quick comparison, the Hisense has a few better specs such as:
        165hz vs 144hz
IMAX enhanced picture settings vs Film maker mode
MediaTek MT9655 vs MediaTek Pentonic 700 MT9653 - Though it can be argued the Pentonic 700 chipset is better as its a TV specific chipset.
        3 x HDMI 2.1 vs 2 x HDMI 2.1

at the end of the day, you make the best judgement of how you like your PQ.

Mine just arrived. awaiting wall bracket to come and hopefully get it installed on the weekend.
Finally upgrading from my 55" Samsung ES8000 (2012).

        • Thanks for the comparison points, I agree about Google TV being far superior but find most TV OS get sluggish after a couple years, investing a couple hundred into a Chromecast or Shield is a much better option anyway so I don’t let OS decide a TV for me personally.

Congrats, it will be a big step up from a 2012 TV.

Please report back your thoughts once you’re up and running.

    • I got this for 2755 from tgg, convinced appliance alliance is the king

  • The 83” LG C5 OLED was around $4,500 a month back, is it worth the extra $$$ ?

    • Thanks, got one
