Premier's Active Families Challenge - 20 Free YMCA Gym Passes, 15% off @ Rebel + 1 hr tennis Melb Park [VIC]

760

Same deal as last year but they've given more freebies this time round.

  • 20 free YMCA passes*
  • 15% off at Rebel Sport*
  • one hour free tennis court hire at Melbourne Park or Albert Reserve*
  • one free child pass to the Melbourne Aquarium and 10% off entry fee for current YMCA Members*
  • one free child pass to the National Sports Museum and MCG Tour*

The 1 hour of tennis is new for this year.

Last year I managed to go to Northcote and the Brunswick location. I was able to go to multiple locations but some managers may want to mark you down to use the 20 passes at 1 location. Looks like they've taken Brunswick off the list but Carlton which has recently reopened after a big renovation is on the list.

This deal should be receiving hundreds of +s - it's pretty much one of the best deals I've seen in that there's absolutely no down side to it, and you can get pretty healthy from it. So jealous.

    • I agree. Excellent deal, thanks.

But it's only available in Victoria. What about other states? :(

  • This is brilliant! I love my local Y but couldn't afford to keep up my membership, AND I've been planning on picking up some new runners from Rebel. Thanks OP!

  • Great deal.

I am already a YMCA member but have registered.

  • Can you use the YMCA pass to use the pool at the aquatic centres or is it just for the gym?

    • +4

In my experience, once you are in you can pretty much do what you like including classes. I would imagine many people would prefer swimming over gym use especially those looking for low impact exercises. For example, Carlton, before the reno, once you passed the reception, you could go to exercise classes, gym, or the pool.

      • Neil, can I still use the swimming pool at carlton(after the reno)?

        • The club only opened a week ago but the reception seems the same. I would guess yes but may want to confirm. There really is no incentive for any club to deny access to an area. Remember, these are community gyms not Fitness First. Carlton often offered deals to those in the commission flats across the road.

        • Thanks Neil. I've been wanting to go for a swim for ages. Will try and report back once I get the passes :)

      • Thanks!

  • Just wondering if we have to register as a team to get the special offers?

In the T&Cs it says 'TEAMS that register for the Premier's Active Families Challenge receive 20 visit passes to attend one of the participating YMCA Centres across Victoria' etc? So does that mean there's no point registering as an individual? :P

Just register as a one person team. Worked for me last year.

  • How fab! Now I can check out my local YMCA for free! I'm up for the challenge! Thanks heaps!

  • a fantastic initiative, me jealous.

  • Great find, thanks for sharing.

  • Been registered this for the last 2 years, now a member of my local YMCA(Swim only). This challenge is really motivate you to do some activities. Go for it guys…..

Awesome. This year’s Challenge runs from 4 March to 14 April, which only runs for 6 weeks.

  • Cn u have multiple teams at the same address? Just so we don't have to share the 20passes to the YMCA

    • +1

Yeah. It's 1 pass per person, not per team. No sharing of the 20 passes. It's a small card with 20 boxes they check off with a pen.

  • +1

Hey just so I understand, if you have 4 ppl in your team you will receive 4x 20pass to the YMCA?

  • Has anyone received their card yet? I'm holding out for that 15% off at Rebel!

    • Not me, I'm still waiting. I just came in to see if anyone else had got their card yet^^

      • Last year they tended to send them out very close to when the offer started so probably won't expect them until a couple of days before or when the promotion starts (beginning of March).

        • Ok thanks. I'll be patient =)

  • Just checking here for the same reason. Guess i'll wait a little longer.
For the guy a few posts up, it seems its 20 visits 'total' per team as per the below:

Only 20 visits can be redeemed per team in total.

Gonna sign up my brother and take his pass :)

    • Hmmm. That's weird. Every person gets a blank card with 20 boxes which I think you may need to put your name on the back. Maybe they've changed things. Everyone I went to the gym with was on their own team so can't say for sure.

Got my pass in the mail today =)
Have to wait for March 4 now, to try the out the local YMCA
