Fujifilm 400 Camera Film 135-36 $13.80 Delivered @ digiDirect eBay

640

Could be ATL for this film. Great price now for this.

Edit: Not ATL but I don’t think it’ll be any cheaper than this. Stock up if you plan to use some.

  • I see you are in Melbourne - can you recommend anywhere in particular for development and prints?
I have found an old undeveloped family roll of 35mm film and I want to treat it well

Hillvale photo. Everyone else is second best

      • +2

is filmneverdie still a thing? I know there they copped some hate when they did the nana cam fundraiser but i havent been following news about them for some time.

        • +2

I haven't used them in a few years, but FilmNeverDie were good when I did.

    • +3

      Hillvale

    • -1

yeah I know the kodak film better.

    • +1

Walkens used to be the cheapest, Hillvale apparently good as they do Dip and Dunk (film is not touched by the machine). Irohas offers same day developing.

    • +1

Hillvale or Vanbar, only trust them for precious rolls..

    • +1

Halide Supply in Collingwood and CBD. Cheaper than Hillvale for hi-res with quicker turnaround

      • Seconding Halide, and Irohas in the city.

    • +1

      Ikigai in Williamstown

  • Who is the cheapest in Melbourne to convert VHS tapes into USB sticks with Enhanced Dolby Atmos Sound

    • This thread suggests that Dolby surround was encoded into the two stereo channels, hence any digitisation service should be able to capture the data. Decoding I am not sure but perhaps there is digital emulation/decoding available.

  • Good find! Not an ATL, but probably the lowest since the price of film went up a few years ago.

I miss being able to buy these for $9.50 each back in 2021.

    • Yeah my bad it’s def not ATL strictly speaking. But at $13.8 anyone who’s keen on shooting films wouldn’t want to miss this. Off it goes to my refrigerator.

  • +17

Def not ATL, I paid less for some in 1986

  • +4

Not bad. This plus around $15-16 for dev and scan you're at less than a dollar a shot.

Sounds sarcastic, but that's pretty good for colour and not developing yourself. That's the price we pay for sweet sweet grain.

  • +3

Just fyi, this is rebranded Kodak 400 :)

    • +3

Yes. It’s confirmed to have the same emulsion as the current Kodak Ultramax 400. However some labs scan this differently due to settings, hence the debate.

    • No they are not the same. They are close (since Fuji uses the same factory now as Kodak), but they have different spectral curves and characteristic curves are not identical. https://www.35mmc.com/11/07/2023/fujifilm-400-made-in-the-us…

      Similar but not identical.

      • They’re due to different calibrations in measuring. When initially released Fujifilm simply copied and pasted all the graphs but later did their measurements. I develop, scan and colour grade manually myself and never noticed meaningful difference.

  • +3

Not sure what I would do with 400 of these.

    • +2

It's the ISO. (unless this is /s)

      • +2

        Imperial Standard Object

So that's about 650 metric rolls!

  • Any recommendations for film processing in Sydney (preferably Western Sydney), any that do Dip & Dunk? I've been using Digidirect Parramatta in the past.

    • +1

Sydney super 8 is good and fast

  • Can I order this via Pony Express?

  • +1

For anyone in regional Vic, highly recommend Lumina Labs - the guy is a photographer himself and cares passionately about the outcome. Checking their website (https://luminalabs.com.au/), it seems there are a couple of drop off sites in metro Melbourne too though can't attest to the efficiency of that service (he's a Kyneton local).

  • +1

Any suggestions for cheap, but good, processing and prints in Sydney (preferably near to the CBD)?

      • Do Film Labs in Surrey Hills
      • Irohas Photo in Chinatown

I've personally had better experiences with Do Film Lab but their turnaround is slower than Irohas.

  • Has anyone compared to Photobee in Malvern? They process and print too. I've used them and am happy, but have never had anything else to compare too.
(picking up another processed roll from them today!)

  • Well I’ll be damned, it actually shipped. Thought digidirect were a joke when it comes to stock levels, especially considering how long it lasted.

    • Their eBay store has been good to me, never had a problem.
