How to Maximise iPhone 17 Pro Savings?

I'm planning on getting the 17 Pro later this week, I was thinking of getting some gift cards at a discount and maybe stacking it with my 2% Cashback from my HSBC card.

Does know if there are any current running deals that can help me with this and also where I could get discounted cards (possibly in store so I can get 2% off from my debit card).

Any help would be appreciated.

  • I'm curious what made you choose 17 Pro over the base 17 considering the base now has previously pro-exclusive 120hz? I know people that bought the base 17, the Air, and 17 Pro Max but you'll the first 17 Pro buyer I know of

was seriously considering the base model, but I've been rocking my 12 for almost 5 years I kind of just decided to get the pro since I know I'll only switch after another 5 years

so while you're in the future, can i get the winning lotto numbers?

I like the size of the pro. I want the best possible camera. ~$2000 vs ~$1400 doesn't make that much difference when used for hours a day and spread over 3-4 years.

You could grab the $50 Apple GCs from the supermarket each time, or split your payment under $100 to trigger the cashback. Budget Direct Rewards also has Apple GCs at 5% off, which is better than 2% cashback - but you’d need 2 policies with them to get access.

    • GCs from the supermarket

the risk is the hassle on the chance they've been tampered with

      • Totally correct. Personally, I’d prefer an online eGift card rather than a physical one to avoid the risk and also save time

    • I'll keep that in mind thanks

  • Staff discount (15% discount*), 10% off giftcards via classified, 10% TRS.

That's what I did for my iphone yonks ago. You could price match for more savings but im way too lazy for that.

I am travelling through Europe with an 14 standard at the moment and there have been many shots i missed where the 8x optical zoom in the 17 pro camera would have got the shot.

It’s the camera that makes all the difference between the models.

You can’t go back to these places so it’s a missed memory. That has to be worth something and the difference between the normal and pro, divided by 24 (new phone every 2 years) is minimal. It’s even better value if you divide by 730 for a daily cost.

I always value the iPhone as cost of phone, plus monthly AppleCare divided by the days you have it, less trade in, is less than a half a coffee a day for something used 4-8 hours a day.

Many people buy a coffee a day that lasts a few minutes.

Personally in our iPhone ‘upgrade’ plans, my wife got a 16pro last year, I inherited her iPhone 14 normal, then in 1 year she will get the 18pro and I will get her 15pro. So we both get a replacement one every 2 years, but mine is 4 years old by the time it is passed down to kids. We also time the purchase to save the GST when going overseas.

But you still have your memory, right?

It’s even better value if you divide by 730 for a daily cost.

It's even better value if you divide by 17,520 for an hourly cost.

So who gets her 16pro when she gets an 18pro if you get her old 15pro? And who has her old 15pro now?
