This should be Macarthur NSW. =D

  • I've been seeing a lot of Pepsi Next deals lately. Are they discontinuing it?

    • +1

It doesn't taste nearly as good as it was made out to be. Not to mention they may need to discontinue this if they intend on bringing over Pepsi special (Pepsi with sugar that blocks fat cells) to Australia.

It was released in Japan in November last year, but if it makes it way over then 3 diet pepsi's would be excessive.

      • There are already 3 diet pepsi's: Pepsi Diet/Light, Max, and Next.

      • they'll never get those health claims past the regulators here. Basically it is Pepsi sweetened with dextrin. I have eaten plenty of maltodextrin in my time and so far it has not blocked any of my fat cells.

    • Yeah that's what my thoughts were in the other Pepsi Next thread… seems like it probably wasn't well received (and rightly so, tastes pretty awful :p)

  • Probs flooding the market, its a nice pepsi but i do miss drinking cans of pepsi light

  • Great price but I need to drown it with bourbon to make it taste passable

    • might as well drown it with bourbon anyway

If this were in Adelaide it would be like 11 cents per can!

  • FUDGE!

I like the stuff… and the better for cheeeeeep!!!

    • 10 Cartons down now.

      Fanx "31mop"!!!

  • Its just a pointless drink. I mean really, whats the point…

    • I agree, if you want less sugar you may as well switch straight to diet or max.

      • There are many people out there that want less sugar without resorting to aspartame.

Several studies suggest you actually put on more weight by ingesting aspartame

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/

That is aside from the safety debate on the artificial sweeteners.

        • Actually, if you'd read through those papers you'd find that you increase your appetite by tasting sweet things - and their is little difference between sugar and aspartame in that increase.

"A double blind study subjected 55 overweight youth to 13 weeks of a 1,000 Kcal diet accompanied by daily capsules of aspartame or lactose placebo. Both groups lost weight, and the difference was not significant. Weight loss was attributed to caloric restriction [27]. Similar results were reported for a 12-week, 1,500 Kcal program using either regular or diet soda [28]. Interestingly, when sugar was covertly switched to aspartame in a metabolic ward, a 25 percent immediate reduction in energy intake was achieved [29]. Conversely, knowingly ingesting aspartame was associated with increased overall energy intake, suggesting overcompensation for the expected caloric reduction [30]. "

That passage there pretty much sums it up; if you use aspartame to replace calories then you will lose weight. If you stick to the same calorie intake then aspartame makes no difference. Lack of self control makes you fat.

        • That is the only part of the link that says that and it also says that "Vigilant monitoring, caloric restriction, and exercise were likely involved in the weight loss seen"

When not under strict control the links both support that both people and rats ate more after being first fed aspartame.

"Sweetness decoupled from caloric content offers partial, but not complete, activation of the food reward pathways. Activation of the hedonic component may contribute to increased appetite. "

    • The point is it is pepsi and it has less sugar. How is that not a point?

Might as well say whats the point of pepsi max.

  • just make sure you check the expiry date before you pick them to the cash register.
I bought one from woolies on sale a few weeks ago and the expiry date is in Feb 2013

    • True…but ehhhh

  • not at Warringah Mall

  • Holy moly, a glass of pepsi in a pub costs you the same.

  • Went in to my local Big W and they had them $10 a box. Don't mind the taste at all, and they're cheap as hell.

  • Usually stevia-sweetened drinks taste like a side of arse, but this is only 30% stevia so it might be okay.

I must agree with the posts though, if I were after a diet drink I would just drink max.
