Possibly the best rent cheque I've received yet!

It's February, the month of love! We've got a very special discount for you.
Receive $20 off your purchase no matter how much or how little you spend!

That's right - it is yours to spend as you wish. Please present your voucher to the cashier when paying for your purchases. This offer ends 28/02/13.

Essentially, a free $20 voucher to spend at IKEA this month.

Sign up to receive their monthly discount vouchers if you're not already, confirm your e-mail and this month's voucher should be in your inbox shortly after.

Really good if you're stuck for Valentine's Day ideas, you could pick up some plastic flowers and Swedish chocolate with your $20.

    • Yep. I signed up and only got $12 with minimum $50 spend.

  • Thanks OP!
    - I had to fish my voucher out of my trash box as I didn't read it properly. Happy days… ;-D

    • +1

No worries! I'm one of those people that usually skim over my monthly discount because it's something like "$50 off when you spend $150 on HERMES". I had to do a double take when I saw this one

  • Thanks, OP - good deal!

  • -7

ermm so if i sign up now i dont get the $20..

this is a pretty stupid deal,.. its like if u already go it u get it,.. whats the point of this?

    • +2

What's the point? They are rewarding existing customers. Sounds like a nice thing for a company to do.

      • -1

soo.. why is it posted if you cant get it? ie dosnt belong here, esp as $20 in teh title

        • Not every bargain here is available to everyone

    • Never mind, realised I'd signed up before the midnight cut off, lucky me :-P

  • -5

"New sign ups during the month of February will receive a new Rent Cheque Discount Voucher offer and will not qualify to redeem the February $20 Rent Cheque Discount Voucher offer."

so there is no deal here

    • It's to stop people OzBargaining IKEA and walking away with free $20 purchases, one per email address. I already get 2 rent cheques (old and new house address) so will quite enjoy the free $40.

      • soo.. why is it posted if you cant get it? ie dosnt belong here, esp as $20 in teh title

        • +1

A lot of people don't even really look at their rent cheques. Often it is something unusable. This is usable, provided you can get to the store with the voucher in hand.

  • Does anyone know if VIC has this rent cheque thing too? I tried to sign up using the above link but it doesn't have VIC on the state option

    • I most likely accidentally linked my preference on the IKEA site - i.e. when you go to the IKEA site it asks you to select your state, so maybe go to the homepage for VIC and find the link to sign up for the rent cheque.

  • -1

My gf would no doubt kill me if I bought her crappy plastic flowers and cheap swedish chocolates from Ikea. And yes they will know it's from Ikea.

    • +1

Oh I didn't know the 6th -ve revokes a -ve vote on the deal!

    • +4

Spoiled much??, think it's about time that SA / WA finally got something worthwhile.

  • My Rent cheque I got sent from signing up to my SA store was "$12 off purchases over $50" :|

    • When did you sign up? According to the t&c's you had to sign up before 1st Feb to get this offer

    • sounds like you signed up after midnight and they sent you that goofy offer

Damn I saw this before midnight while cruising the web on my tablet but too busy perving on some
chicks in Maccas to bother filling it out then.. grr

  • I signed up additional accounts just before midnight Perth time and got the deal. Wouldn't have happened without this post. Thanks op.

Does anyone know if these can be used in the self checkout lanes??

    • Yes it did for me but the Ikea lady came up & had to manually enter the voucher code

    • I scanned the rent cheque barcode in the self checkout lanes. (WA) No one checked on me.

  • Received mine in WA all OK - $20 for free, no minimum spend, happy times.
Also found that if you select reply or forward to the e-mail, the contents of the e-mail including the name and numbers on the cheque can be edited. I'm assuming each individual barcode will only work once so there's probably no benefit, but if anyone is game enough to change the value I'd love to hear how it goes.

    wtf is a 'rent cheque'

  • I have received this :

"Thanks for signing up to receive Monthly Discounts. On the first of every month, you'll receive a new offer to spend at the IKEA store.

Your first discount is $12 off when you spend $50 or more. This offer ends 28/02/13. Please present your voucher to the cashier when paying for your purchases. "

Your first discount is $15 off when you spend $99 or more. This offer ends 28/02/13. Please present your voucher to the cashier when paying for your purchases.

This is what I got: "Your first discount is $15 off when you spend $99 or more. This offer ends 28/02/13."
Was hoping for the $20 with no minimum spend :(

  • I originally signed up with them and have been receiving rent cheques up to December last year. Didn't receive one for January or February. Just signed up again. Guess I miss out on the deal.

    • check your spam folder.

    • I never receive them to my registered email either but if you "like" them (Ikea Perth for me) on Facebook you can click the "resend discount voucher" button under their cover page, enter in the email you registered and it will be resent to you. Hope that helps! :)

  • Your first discount is $15 off when you spend $99 or more. This offer ends 28/02/13. Please present your voucher to the cashier when paying for your purchases.

  • get the coupon, but now it is $15 off when spend $99 or more

  • no vic love?

    • WA/SA and VIC/NSW/QLD stores are owned by separate companies.

  • I got the rent cheque but nothing particular I want to buy. Any suggestion?

  • I got the deal, mrs tried a few hours later and only got the $15/99 deal

  • +1

Thanks for the heads up, got the deal last night and received $20 off this morning. :)

  • +1

This should be marked as EXPIRED.

    • got a few mates to join, all got the standard $15 for every $99 purchase.

  • Cheerz guv.

  • I accidentally used the same voucher twice, maybe half-hour apart, and it worked.
Tried it again, different voucher I think, and it failed.
I did end up with more discounts than vouchers.

$3 wicker baskets for Expedit shelving!

    • I did the same. Both my wife and myself have the rent cheque. We did the self check out. After I paid $0.30 for my items, my wife was trying to get the cheque from the bottom of her bag. I then paid again with my cheque and it worked. We ended up getting $60 of goods for $0.30.

Anyone know if the cheque is re-usable?

      • Yes, i would also like to know if anyone has been game enough to try??

  • Thanks OP - I too deleted the email without reading it and have just fished it out of trash.

Looks like I'll be looking for something for $20 tomorrow :)

  • Any chance anyone isn't using there $12 with minimum $50 spend voucher?

    Thanks
