Is this a portable? Might wanna put that it the title somewhere otherwise it'll get compared to 3.5's like this one.

A good deal a few months ago, no so much now as there are cheaper 2.5 portables available as pointed out above.

  • whats with the high postage

    • thats probbaly how they make the $$

Just last week there was a deal from DSE for a 2TB external drive for $79 free shipping. You could get it from OW for $75. So this deal is complete rubbish, over $100 for 1TB? You can get much cheaper ones from everywhere these days.

As above, the one in this deal is a usb powered 2.5" portable, can't compare to the ac adapter powered 3.5" "desktop" drives. You gotta compare apples with apples.

      • I 100% know it is. In my opinion desktop drives are higher quality than portable ones, and as such you are getting a far better deal buying a $99 2TB desktop drive than a $100.94 1TB portable drive. Understandibly portable drives have the advantage of being portable, and are a bit dearer, so you are correct in that you need to compare portable with portable.

But, all you have to do is go on the Portable Hard Drives page on OW, and guess what? The very first result is a 1TB portable drive for $89. Free delivery and pickup available. As you scroll down you find several for the same price. You could get 2 500GB portable drives for cheaper than this "bargain".

It's already been established a couple of times that there's cheaper comparable drives out there, but you were comparing incomparable desktop drive prices to portable drive prices. Portables are and always have been more expensive per gig so if you're going to go on about 2GB this and that, at least compare like with like.

There's no bargain here, that much is certain.

I'll keep that in mind. I always look at desktop drives, and didn't notice that portables were almost twice the price. So my original post is invalid, but the main point stands, you can get much better deals than this, but not quite as good as I posted.
