  • When does it expire and how long is shipping?

    • +1

Expires next Monday unless sold out first. Stocks are right here now, and dispatching on a 1st come 1st served basis - generally arriving, 1-3 days locally (WA), and 3-7 days over East.

  • Title says USB3 but comment USB2, and web site USB3 again? Assuming USB3 then?

    • +1

      Yep - USB3 - description fixed. Thanks!

Hi rep are these the Hitachi branded stock or Tuoro branded stock? Thanks

    • +1

Interesting question - what is the difference? It is TOURO Mobile by HGST (Hitachi Global Storage Technology) by Western Digital. So, that makes it 3 companies in one.

      • Thanks rep. I believe the only difference is one contains a WD drive whilst the other a Hitachi drive (can't 100% confirm as theres so many drives out there with the same case)

        • +3

Can't believe you got a neg for that question. Along with 'blopd' have put you into positive territory!

        • So…. It's a WD Drive inside a Hitachi case?
Sorry, I'm not very good with these things. I just have a thing against WD drives dying on me…

        • WD has owned hitachi for a little while now.

I daresay WD recognised their high capacity drives were unreliable and tend to produce Hitachi designed drives (instead of WD dsesigned) for their high capacity drives (4tb 3.5", 1tb and 2tb 2.5").

    Hi Rep,
Where to Input Promo Code. I had a drive in Cart and the total value is showing as below
    total with delivery as $112.00

    • +1

Continue onto checkout - there will be a box for Promo Code. Type it in- don't copy and paste.

      Cheers!

      • I mistakenly copied and pasted the code and the price on the receipt sent to my email is $101.95 (Order Ref No 13020607TT). Can I cancel this order and make another one or could you help fix the price on the receipt and I will pay by direct debit? Thank you.

        • Please email us at [email protected] and it will be fixed up. Thanks.

        • Hi Rep. Do you know if this Touro drive has automatic backup like Western Digital drive? Thanks.

      2.5 portable vs 3.5 desktop

        There's always one…

  • thanks ordered one

    • +7

      No, THANK YOU!

  • Can these be taken apart? I need a 2nd drive for my notebook.

    • Maybe! But no more warranty - GL :)

    • it's probably better to buy a hard drive from a computer store because their hard drives are made for notebooks (and it's around the same price)

    • Western Digital portables can't have their hard drives extracted, not sure about Hitatchi's.

    • No you can't use it in a notebook as it has a hard wired usb port on the controller instead of a sata port.

      • +1

Sorry you are wrong, these can definitely be taken apart and used as a normal sata drive. I bought one 3 months ago and use it in my laptop. The only problem with taking these apart is that you will destroy the case, the way its put together, clips will get broken and thus you will definitely lose warranty. But for this price u cannot find anything cheaper.

BTW its a 9mm drive inside, Hitachi branded if i remember correctly. USB speeds are quite excellent if u use it through the USB, but i use it through sata and its doing its job quite well :)

        • Taking it apart doesn't destroy the case, I used a butter knife to do mine so I think you just need to be a little bit careful on how much force you apply. I scratched the outside of the case a bit trying to get it pried open with the knife but the clips themselves are fine. I put the drive into my PS3 and put an old 500gb USB2 drive I had into the USB3 case and it all clicked together nicely. Have no problems with it.

Hi OP, I'm from Perth, will there be extra incentive if I pick up directly from your store (save you postage)? =p

    • +33

You get to see our friendly staff, and visit our AWESOME shop!

      • +7

You still have those sexy asian girls working there? I used to come to your shop just to see them before.

        • +2

          Well, that's a bit scary.

Best price I've found especially when you include shipping - smashes Kogan's deal - with shipping that is $100.

    Thanks!

Would jump all over this if I needed one. Great deal, good to see the Wait Awhile state get some great deals.

  • HI NetPlus,

I have a Hitachi 750 Mobile touro and usb 3 controller unit inside that one has compatability issues with Windows 8 (it is known to crash explorer when connected, unless your MB has Nec USB3.0 controllers)…… Do you know if they ironed out those issues with this 1TB one?

By the way, can i assume this is a 5400rpm drive? or the faster one?

    • Yes, this is the non "Pro" and 5400rpm (undisclosed)

  • Bought one - about 5c cheaper than uMart, but I don't have to pick it up…

  • Just bought one. Great offer, thanks!

  • Dear REP, how long will delivery take if I order this today? I am in Melbourne.
I need it before Valentine's day.

Bank Deposit and Money Order/Bank Cheque - no additional fee
    Credit card (Visa/Mastercard) - 2.3% surcharge
    Paypal - 2.4% surcharge.

Like the deal but surcharge fees are high.

  • $84 at MSY, no surcharges (pffffffft primitive) on cash, no fiddling around with shipping.

  • Could anyone please tell me if this would be compatible with my daughters Mac laptop? We have a portable hard drive however it doesn't work on her Mac.

    • +1

She just needs to format the drive and it will work, just google how to format hard drives for macs.

  • +1

    Is this 7200rpm or 5400rpm?

    • +1

Doesn't matter this is the non "pro" - mx3 version
So its 5400rpm but still have the usb 3 connection

  • +1

The official site says it's USB3.0 compliant but only runs "up to 480Mbit/sec" which is only USB2.0?? http://www.touropro.com/product/touro-mobile/
    Can someone clarify?
The pro version says it runs "up to 5 Gbit/sec"
